We are sailing on the May 23rd Wonder, and had originally planned on driving down from N.C. But I think we may fly instead. In the past, I've rented a car from Avis at the airport & dropped it off at the Radisson. Are there any special rates or promotions I should be aware of through Avis?

Thanks for any info!

In reading some other boards, I found that the code USA reduced my rate by $30.00. Wanted to pass this info on....

I LOVE THIS BOARD!

I just went back to Avis, and for $4.00 less than my current reservation, I got a minivan instead of a category E.

Woo Hoo.

And coming back from the ship, I had a Category E rented for 3 nights, and changed that to a minivan and my reservation only increased by $11 total.

WOO HOO AGAIN!

Now I don't have to jam all our bags on our laps, we will be very confortable.

Thanks so much for the USA code.

I tried to use the USA code & was told that I need a world number or something. Does anyone have this information, or do you know of the website I can go to to get the discounts?

It will save me a lot of money too!

Thanks

Go to the transportation board-there are several threads about Avis.

Also try going to www.mousesavers.com and doing a search for ground transporation or rental cars. There is a code listed there for an AVIS GROUP CODE. I have used it and a minivan only cost me $59.00 (including tax) from airport to Radisson. It was the cheapest code I had found so far. I have not priced out with the USA code so I don't know what minivans go for with that.

I used the USA code for our May and December cruises and saved lots of $$$. $30 per day for class E car, saved me almost $30 per day!

But what is the AWD code you use with the USA code?

I just left it blank. I think it is one or the other. I experimented with both and got the best rate using the usa code alone.

Thanks for the USA code. I just rebooked using it, upgraded from an Impala to a minivan for $30 more. Without the code the minivan would have cost almost $200 more. Everyone on this forum is great, I love it!

Everyone should check their reservations. I got a better rate on a bigger car and then when i went back to it, the rate had mysteriously jumped up. After cancelling and rebooking several times, I called Avis tech support. She tried to replicate my problem and couldn't. I explained the USA code and she said that that was a bug, it had been reported and was being worked on. Basically there are no "USA" rates, the rate code should be a 2 digit number. A bit after you make a reservation using the USA code, the reservation will find the lowest available rate using rate code "69" and that is what your rate will be.

Anyway, that's been my experience. Just check your rates! If avis wasn't so convenient to the port and where we are staying the night before I would use a different car company, the website is such a pain.

Wow. Well that's a little disheartening news. I was planning on using that USA code to book my rental car both ways too!

Has anyone else who has used this code gone back to check their rates again? Please let me know what you find out!

Wow, thanks for the great discount code. I had made reservations and redid them saving $34.50. I appreciate the info. I did have to use USA and the AWD code. Most discount clubs like Sams, Costco, etc have an AWD code to use.

I had existing reservations (made by phone) and tried to modiy using the USA code and was told I could not use the code.

I then created new reservations via the internet, used the code and save about $25! However, before I cancel the first reservations, how do I know that they'll accept the code when I get to Avis in Orlando in August?

And if they do not honor the code is the worst thing going to be that I have to pay a higher rate?

Does anyone know when the latest you can cancel Avis ressies?

Thanks for your help!

I am a Sam's Club member. Where do you find the AWD code?

I'm sorry; I didn't realize that I hadn't indicated the AWD code. I found it on the Transportation Board. It is: K163324, to be used with the USA code as well. I had to have both to get a discounted rate. I don't know what it stands for, but it does work. I printed my confirmation; it's my understanding that Avis must honor it. I plan on taking the printout with me.

Just wanted to let everyone know, after you make the reservation, print off a copy, also save your email confirmation. I went in and checked on each reservation after it was made and found that it increased from the amount that was quoted. I printed both, and will carry them with me.

I also have not cancelled my previous reservation yet that I booked using my BJ Wholesale codes, because I am afraid I won't be able to use the USA code and will be up a creek so to speak.

Anyone that has used the USA code recently or is using it soon, please update us as to how it worked.

Thanks!

Bumping this up to see if anyone has used the USA code and gotten the rate that was quoted.

The USA code is not working any longer, so I wanted to see if anyone got it!

I printed out my confirmation, and my confirmation emails, and am ready to fight ! LOL

As I said before, when I called Avis about the fact that my rate was going up, I was told the USA is not a valid code and it was a bug in the system. When she tried to duplicate the bug, she was able to, but in their reservations system the rate immediately kicked into the rate it was giving me when I went to check back on the reservation.

She also told me that they would NOT honor the previous code. I had printouts also but I decided I didn't want to start off my vacation fighting about what amounted to about $30 so I gave up and rebooked under the AWD code I had used previously. Let us know how it goes, though.

I'm sorry some folks have had difficulty with the rate I found on the transportation board. We will be renting a car this Wed., the 22nd, and on the 26th as well. I just got off the phone with an Avis rep to confirm the rate, and it was within $2.00 of my quote. I don't know why other people are not able to use the rate that they were given via the Internet. It would seem to me that Avis should honor it.

I jUst got back this weekend and used the USA rate. When the rep put in my confirmation number, the higher price printed out.
She did give us the the rate that was on our confirmation. I had no problem getting the rate.

Thanks for the good news. I hated the idea of squishing into a smaller car, when for the same price with the USA code I could get a minivan.

I have all my printouts, so I am ready!

Keep the updates coming... let us know how the 22nd and 26th turn out with the Internet rate.
