This will be our first visit to KSC. Does anyone have any tips?

we have been..ds was younger then (about 9 i think) and really enjoyed it.
it does take up most of the day if you want to see all the exhibits.
it was not busy when we went (fall).

I went in March.
I booked the Cape Canaveral Then And Now tour.
It was an additional $21 over the price of admission to the Kennedy Space Centre but the 2 1/2 hour tour was well worth it.
You get taken onto The Cape and visit several sites from the early days of the space program.

we went there last time and **loved** it!

we spent pretty much the whole day there and couldn't get enough.

It was cool it was around the John Glenn going back to space timing and my brother is named after him so I got him some special souvenirs :)

We did the basic tour in August 2006 ... it was busy but nothing like a busy WDW or US park!! With travel from the WL it took pretty much all morning into the evening. We really enjoyed it ... even though there is was only one real "space buff" in our travelling party. That said, it's not something we'll be rushing back to do over and over - well worth it for the "once in a lifetime" experience though! :thumbsup2

If you use the disount code: TANG
you get $5 off

Every dollar counts :cool1:

Thanks for the advice on tickets.

Is the discount $5 off available at the gate?

We are planning to go next month, have never been. The best discount we found was on the AAA website (southeast region), but you have to be a AAA member (my in-laws belong in that region - I suppose you could ask at your local AAA office if you can't get onto the right web page).

I will also say we were taking the weekend away from WDW to avoid the high Fri-Sat DVC points, and the next day we are going to St. Augustine. Could not find anything about that on DIS, either, although regular web searching tells me there is so much to do there we should have planned more than a day!

We went in April 2007 and enjoyed it. We spent most of the day there but we didn't do any films or the Hall of Fame. We thought it would take a half day but we easily spent the day there. My daughter found it slightly boring but my son couldn't get enough. I wouldn't go again soon--once every several years is enough for me!:goodvibes

I visited KSC in March. My strong advice -- buy your tickets in advance on their website. Especially if you want a special tour -- these tend to go quickly.

I arrived at 9:30am, and wanted to take the "Up Close" tour. I managed to get the second last tour of the day. They sell out quickly.

One thing I disliked about KSC was the cost of the food/drinks. I couldn't believe how expensive it was... yes more expensive than Disney

I thought the same thing!!! I could not believe the prices and the food was awful and the service was terrible!!!!!!!!

My dh and ds like it but they are into this stuff, my dd and myself could have skipped it.

Wow. I would not have guessed that. Are you referring to the sit down restaurants or counter services or all of them?

I was referring specifically to the counter service since I didn't dare look at the table service. To be honest we ended up holding off on eating until we left due to the prices. We also drank the nasty tasting FL water from the fountains b/c DH flat out refused to pay those crazy prices!

My dd and I went several years ago and brought our lunch and drinks with us. It was okay, we enjoyed it but I won't be rushing to go back. Just not my thing. My dh and ds's went last Sept and were really upset. If you go just make sure it isn't Florida day. They had that in Sept and the place was crowded and they ended up not really being able to do or see anything. It was a time when they give Florida residents a special day at KSC.

I have to agree with the last poster. DH and I went about 13 years ago when I was pregnant with DD and we were both kind of bored. I'm sure they've improved it since then, but we really didn't get to see any real "space stuff" -- just a "replica" of a 1960s control room.:rolleyes1
