I know it sure surprised the heck outta me, which is why I posted here. I figured that somoene would have already heard about it. I even checked out All Ears to see what they had listed for the '09 plan, and it says that you do get a TS! Do you think a CM would tell me if I called and asked?

It must be a typo. Graphs, etc all show a CS meal in the brochure.

I think it is a typo because Dreams Unlimited says there is a table service they are probably more accurate than disney - I hate their website when you try to get a quote for 5 people it rejects everything.

I hate to say it, but I find the Disney site itself fairly useless. It tends to leave out a LOT of info.

But the brochures that I have seen all indicate a QS (quick service aka Counter Service) meal included.

My travel agent told me today that tax and gratuity was included in my DP. Is this true? I read that its NOT included. I don't want to arrive at DW short of cash because I believed that it was included. HELP!!!!:headache:

Thanks JimMIA, I thought something didn't sound right. From my understanding, The HDDR DOES include the tax and gratuity though. Would it be smarter to have my family and my brothers family at seperate tables then being there will be 6 of us total? I understand that parties of 6 or more automatically get charged the 18% gratuity, is this correct???

Gratuity was included in the old plan, but not in the 2008 and newer versions.

if you make your ADRs seperate than you wont have to pay the auto tip. if you make the ADR as one family, you will be required to pay it.

and sorry everyone, i wasnt aware that disneys own website was not to be trusted, go figure:confused3

It is definately a TYPO!!!

I just called WDW to confirm what the plan entails and they confirmed it is definately a typo. Per WDW -- the regular dining plan is just like it is now -- 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack.

Hopefully they fix the website soon because Disney's website that the CM's use is showing its 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack. It is a typo.

But boy - they should be more careful/diligent about that stuff - it is a pretty big error!!

It's a typo. Here's the correct info:

Includes the Disney Dining Plan:
Choose from participating Disney restaurants.

For each night of your package stay you will enjoy:

1 Table-Service meal including entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage or one full buffet
1 Quick Serve meal of either a complete Combo Meal or one entree with one dessert (Lunch or Dinner) or one juice (Breakfast)
1 Snack choice of a frozen novelty ice cream, popsicle or fruit bar, single serving grab bag of Frito Lay's chips, one 20 oz. bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or Dansani Water, single piece of whole fruit, medium fountain soft drink or apple juice
Gratuity is NOT included. Children ages 3-9 must choose from children’s menu if available.

Dessert available only during lunch or dinner. One juice is included during breakfast

Meal plans must be purchased for the entire length of your stay and for your entire party.

1 Table-Service meal can be exchanged for 1 Character Dining Experience (Note that some Character meals require 2 Table-Service Meal exchanges.)

2 Table-Service meals may also be exchanged for one of the following: 1 Cinderella's Royal Table Dining Experience, 1 Signature Dining Experience, 1 Disney Dinner Show (category 2 or 3 seating at 5:00 or 7:30pm shows, Cat 1 at 9:30pm shows), or 1 Private Dining Meal.

Pizza Service: 2 quick serve meals can be exchanged at a quick service location for one 16" pizza, two desserts and two beverages.

4 Table serve meals can be exchanged for Private-In-Room Dining (room service at the Deluxe Resorts) to include two beverages, two appetizers, one 16" pizza and two desserts

Meal entitlements for children ages 3-9 are not transferable to adult guests in the party ages 10 and up.

its a huge error! if i didnt have this as another resource, and many people dont, i would see that and not book the dining plan because of it.
i also called disney, but couldnt get any straight answers. they always talk in circles over there. glad you were able to get a straight answer.

Hey .. you are right!

When going to book and add the dining plan they forgot to add the quick service meal in the text! But they did add it in the brochure. I am sure they will fix their mistake soon and add the quick service to the text!

That would have freaked me out a bit too!

If you have more than six people at your table, you will be charged that 18% gratuity. I found this out the hard way Dec '06. I was down there for Mousefest and had several meals with groups of DISers. We all had seperate tickets, but were all charged the 18% gratuity. This happened at every restaurant. Some were on the DDP and some (like me) had the DDE card. I didn't bother to look at my receipts until I got back, so didn't realize I had tipped twice every time. I just glanced at the total (to which the 18% tip had already been added, but I didn't notice it), then I tipped an additional 20% (my DDE discount). Not smart I know, but I was busy talking, instead of paying attention. I was down there again for Mousefest this past Dec and again had several meals with a group of DISers. At that time the tip was included on the DDP, but for those of us not on the DDP we were all charged the 18% tip.

If we are all using our DDP cards...how can they (Disney) automatically put an 18% tip on the bill? What bill? Wouldn't they just present us with some sort of paper stating what we owed (18% on our table) for the tip? How could they "charge" us...? We would just give that amount (for the tip) , wouldn't we? :confused3 There would be nothing to "charge" it on...I pay cash for all of my tips...

Disney will give you a receipt showing how much the meal would be and the total for the tip will be included on that receipt. When you give your KTTW card for the DDP they often have to ask you how you are paying for the tip. This is not to be rude, it's because they can't reopen the ticket for any kind of charging once they run the credits for your DDP. After they run the DDP credits you would have to pay cash for the balance due. Which in your case is the amount of the tip.

Since you pay cash for your tips you will give cash to the server along with your KTTW card and they will bring you any change when they return your KTTW card.

There is actually an entire tipping thread stickied at the top of this forum that covers much of what I summarized here. Any more questions that you have regarding the automatic tip, are probably covered HERE (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1870320) :goodvibes

You decide:
. . . Parties of six or more are assessed an automatic 18% service charge.
. . . If you make separate reservations, check in separately, and do not in any way indicate that you are together, you will not be subject to that service charge.
. . . If you indicate you are actually one party, and are seated together, or near each other and have the same server, ditto.
. . . If you are seated separately and have different servers, you get to determine how much to tip.

QS meals must be included, because I'm looking at my reservation confirmation, and it includes

• 1 per night QUICK SERVICE MEALS
• 1 per night TABLE SERVICE MEALS
• 1 per night SNACK

But I did panic a bit when I saw the website, and it says differently. I wasn't budgeting much money at all for food!
