Dubai buys slice of Cirque du Soleil
MONTREAL (AFP) - Cirque du Soleil sold a 20-percent stake in its entertainment dynasty Wednesday to two Dubai firms to fuel its worldwide explosion, starting with a new permanent show in the Middle East.
Does this change your opinion on the show?
Would you still go?

Why would this change my opinion on the show:confused3
Of course I would still go. It's a great show.. and Dubai is an incredible city with astounding development.
Sounds great to me!:)

Doesn't change my opinion. I thought it sucked before and I still do. If Jesus Christ himself took ownership, I'd think it sucked.
It just sucks.
IMO.
Love Blue Man Group, though. :thumbsup2

Yeah, it does affect my opinion. Right or wrong, it just does. I was thinking of going again in December with my MIL because she has never seen it. I think that we can mark that off of the "possibilities" list now.

Doesn't change my opinion of anything. :confused3 I've loved Cirque since I saw an IMAX movie as a preteen. A lot of the live shows are pretty much out of my budget, but I'd love to see as many of them as possible eventually.

What's the difference between responding "No" and "It Doesn't Matter to Me"? Neither answer means the change isn't going to affect your opinion.

The Dubai connection didn't buy a controlling interest, just an interest. 20%, I think. I doubt it'll change the show in Orlando. And I'll bet there is or soon will be a Cirque show in the new Dubai entertainment complex.

Eh, it really doesn't matter... More and more of what we have here in the US is being taken over by foreign interests, especially those from wealthy Arab States who are making $$ hand over fist from their oil riches...
The Chrysler Building here in NY was just sold (majority) to owners from Dubai and as Ibelieve one of the Saudi princes has for years, had a large stake in Disneyland Paris...
It is what it is...

There should be the option of "Who Cares" in the poll. Ownership (and only 20% at that) is meaningless. It's all about the show.

It's all about the show. And the money to develop new ones, especially when the economy in their primary market (Las Vegas) is not doing great and their sales are, in all likelihood, down.

What does Cirque Du Soleil having a show in Dubai (an amazing technologically advanced city) have any effect whatsoever on how you feel about it? That just makes no sense whatsoever imho.

I am not going to say anything further on the issue. I have a few character flaws, just like everyone else, let's just leave it at that.
