How far are the walks form the Universal resorts? The HRH appears to be right in front of US, but what about the others? Do you go through the parking garages?

HRH is the nearest, brings you out wright next to Nascar.8-10min walk
PBH is the furthest, brings you out at the entrance to US.20 or so min walk
RPR is like in between compared to the others.Brings you out by Jimmy Buffets
10-15 min walk..
All the paths are great with foilage trees and lighted at night :thumbsup2

hrh will bring you very close to the entrance for the studios.
rph will take you to ioa
short walk between the two parks.
maybe about 2 minutes, 3 at the most.

They also have richshaw type carriages attached to bicycles at the beginning/end of the walkways. The Drivers/peddlers work for tips only and do not receive salaries.

i stay completely away from the rickshaw drivers.
when i am on the sidewalk, they try to hog the middle of the walk.
i get run over almost.
if that is the way they treat the park/hotel guests walking, just think of the type of ride you would get being in their cart.
they constantly rush to make another buck.
i would hope universal would ban them.
it's an accident just waiting to happen when it is crowded at the hotels and city walk.
i know there are some that like the idea and ride.
i'm just stating how i feel and i know many do not have the same opinion as i do.
for tips, some people pay them and some don't.
there was a hot thread last summer about the rick shaws and ill try to bring it up.
quite a few posted what they paid for the ride.
brb once i find it.

this thread talks negatively about the pedicabs:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1503655
this thread has more yak on them but on the 2 & 3 pages people that have used them list what they paid.
and there are some posters that really liked the ride with the pedicabs.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1466623
i can't locate the third thread from last year.
read thru them, filter out the opinions to you get to the posts of what people tipped.
just because i don't like the pedicabs doesn't mean you will have the same thought.
i just wanted to be answer your question with the costs that guests were paying last year.
you have the right to make your own opinion and should not feel bad if you decide to use the rickshaw/pedicabs on your trip.

Does anyone know if the water shuttles carry ECVs? If not, I guess we'll have to hoof it.

they do.
a ramp is put in place for them to roll on to the top area where the captain steers.
i have been on the boat shuttles w/ ecv's on them.
piece of cake.

glad to help
sometimes we regulars forget the questions we had when we first started going to the parks or staying on site.
others helped me and in turn, i like to pass the favor on.

Last time we stayed at HRH, very short walk but my boys pleaded so many times to take a ride. We finally caved and the guy said 4 is no problem. The guy must have buns of steel.;)
It was literally a 15 sec. ride and we tipped him $5.

We use the rickshaws to HRH when the kids are wiped out. They just don't have the energy to finish up the walk. There are 4 of us and we usually tip $4-$5.

Agreed - To the OP, as others have said, don't forget the rickshaw guys. They took 4 of us from PBH on a 95 degree day with no problem. (He INSISTED 4 was OK!) We gave him $5 or $6 bucks I recall. 2 minute ride, tops.

How long does the water taxi take to the parks from PBH? We're going next week and have never been to US/IOA!

when staying onsite @ Universal u don't need to rush -anytime; i enjoy the boat rides;)
i find the rickshaws rather demeaning:confused3 jmho, feel so bad for the guys especially when it's hot....know they have to make a living & nobody is forcing them. Guess if there wasn't a demand for it, they'd wouldn't continue though.
appears as though way more dead lizards on the pathway since they began operation:scared:
