DH is still not convinced to stay onsite. :( I want POR but he will only do it if I can match, or do better than the $89 a night we have booked at the DD Marriott Courtyard. I know that the rate codes that are out now are only until 8/24. From your experience, do they issue rate codes for the fall Value season? If so, what can I expect?
TIA!

I think they issue rates for the fall value season in the summer. They currently have some AP rates into September. We in fact have Coronado Springs booked for $93 per night for Labor Day weekend.

I have thought about going the AP route, but it will just be the 2 of us and we want UHP so we can go anywhere we want whenever. The cost of a PAP just to get a room discount would end up costing us more.

I'm wondering about this too. I hate waiting to plan until the last minute!

We planned our trip for October and I hope a discount becomes available too. Right now we are using the DC discount , it helps a little but it would be nice to save some more. I'm hoping for something to come out during the summer.
I would tell your DH that $89 for the Courtyard in DD isn't that good. We stayed there for a fabulous rate of $25 in Nov 2001, but it wasn't worth much more. The lobby area was nice as well as the pool area, but the rooms (although large) were VERY shabby and bland . The rug was UGLY. I even got mad at my DH because he got a little video of the room. It was fine, but basically just a hotel! We stayed at ASMo in Jan for $49 and thought that was a MUCH better deal, even at twice the price. The rooms were small, but cheery and clean (not at all shabby) and housekeeping did cute things with our towels and stuffed animals. The pool area was real cute , with lifeguards and a pool bar. the food court could not be beat and bus service is better. I would just wait it out and as soon as you see those discounts, cancel the Courtyard and change to onsite.

When are you going? I'll bet we see less than $89 for moderates during the value season Oct-Dec. I agree that Courtyard struggles to compete with the value resorts, let alone the moderates. I've stayed at nice Courtyards elsewhere, but by all reports this isn't one of the nice ones.

You really think we'll see prices that low for the fall??? That would be GREAT!

At first I was kind of pessimistic about this fall. But the latest round of summer (July-Sept) codes give very reasonable rates, only about 10% above the best rates from last fall. So now I'm more optimistic!
The sad part of course, is that it means WDW is still struggling attendance-wise.

October is no longer considered value season. With that being said, I do know they came out with a code last May for the months of October and November. It was in my newspaper and was the first time I'd ever seen a code to use for WDW. I booked the CBR right away and got a price of $99. They also had the deluxes starting at $139 though the only one available was the AKL at that time and the Allstars were $49. I'm hoping they come out again with discounts for October because we plan on going again for the MNSSHP. You might want to book a room and then switch it to a discount once the discounts become available.

Has anyone seen those $49 rates for Value-season for Jan into February. I would LOVE to find a rate like that for Music. We are in right now for $109 (preferred)?????

This past January we payed $59 for ASMo. It was great! $49 was for AP, which we didn't have at the time.

DH and I will be there September 19-24. That is already the Value Season, Mods go for $133 rack and $108 DC. What kind of rates have you gotten for the fall in previous years?

we were there Jan 23-26th..( I believe that is right). We had the All Star Music preferred for 59 or 69. It was a really good rate.

In value season for the moderates we've typically paid $84 to $89. Last year we had a an AP rate of $89 for a standard room. Water view were more, though.
I would definitely stay onsite instead of offsite, though. While I love the moderates and am not thrilled about AS. I would stay at AS before I would stay offsite. The major reason is transporation. It just isn't that good when you are offsite without a car. If you have a car it might be okay but it still isn't Disney. There is just something about the mickey soap, the animals made out of towels, the DisneyWorld channel on the TV, etc. Just something there that isn't at off site resorts.

... agree with dcedwards.
There is nothing like staying on-site. And Yes I would do AS before off-site DEFINITELY!
We paid $108 (inc tax) for two adjoining rooms at the ASSports last value season (Aug-Sep 2001).
We're staying at the WL and AKL this Sep AP rate. This seems to be the best fall rate I can find for deluxes at the moment. So like y'all Im hoping for some rate drops or codes!

We stayed at the Marriott DD last Sept. for 20.01 a night. I have to agree with the majority. I would stay onsite. The service and our room was fine. But the transportation was HORRIBLE! I'm one of the ones who really isn't crazy about the All-Stars either but I would stay there before the Marriott again if price is an issue.

we have the asmu booked for 8/25-9/3. I am hoping the moderates will drop. We are paying $69 taxes included for the hotel. I would love to switch for a little more.
What is the lowest price you have seen for a moderate during this time?

We had Dixie Landings at $89 / night in August of 2000. Got it with the old MKC discount.

I have seen moderates for as low as $84 a night. But, when those rates are released they tend to go fast. Seems like you find out about a lot of discounts through the boards. We have our ressie thru DU and they are always checking. When they find a lower rate they change it for us. That way I don't have to worry about it.

Well, I successfully convinced DH that we should go with POR instead of the DD courtyard! :bounce: :bounce:
I showed him all the cool pics from Our Laughing Place and the Carlson's website. We are decided on an Aligator Bayou room. We spent our honeymoon in a rustic log cabin, so it should bring back a few nice memories :D
I am going to make ressies for now and will stay on the lookout for discounts. I am hoping to get POR for under $100 a night in September.
I told him about the transportation at the Courtyard vs. POR, and that also helped to sell him. We really want to be able to get around easily. I really hope they keep the boat to DD going, cause that was also one of my selling points.
