View Full Version : Beating the Heat

I'm heading to DLP for a weekend at the end of August and I'm concerned about how hot it will be. I managed to get in a quick day visit last May and the temp was around 25 and for me that is hot. I tried my usually Florida tricks and found they didn't work. I tried ducking into a shop - only to find it is not air conditioned, same with the restaurants I tried. I tried getting on the train to ride around the park but no air was circulating because the train cars where enclosed in glass - which actually made them hotter than outside.

So, how do you cope w/ the heat when at DLP in the summer????

Pirates of the Caribbean tends to produce a slight splash which can cool you off, plus it seems to be quite cool in there anyway.

Failing that, there's also a water feature just by the POTC exit which you can splash yourself with quite easily.

Get wet standing near the singing in the rain umbrella by ROR in the Studios.
There was a big huge fan at the exit of one of the rides, can't remember which one but it's near the entrance to the stunt show.

During the summer they used to install sprays at various places where you stand underneath what looks like a shower and it sprays a fine mist over you. I think they got this from Orlando but not sure. I also don't know if they are still there or not!

I'd make use of the drinking fans by the toilets to splash water on myself too

Definately agree about the rain. Tell me more about this magicool spray - can you get it anywhere else? I'm in Copenhagen right now and they don't have Tesco and we don't have them in the states yet (but I hear they are coming).

Thanks for the tips, I think I'll bring my little 'cooling' neck wrap. It looks a little funny, but if it helps, it's worth it.

Better hot than cold or wet for me...

It's around 40 degrees where I am at the moment and I must say I find it a bit warm... The kids love the heat, they love splashing in the paddling pool etc but it's hot...

We've been there in June (I was pregnant then) & July and it was quite warm so we drank lots of water, had ice lollies and splashed ourselves with water. It was ok...

Never heard of that magicool spray so hope it works for you.
