for outside renovations, so they are closing 1/2 of concierge for a couple of weeks in Sep/October.

Thankfully, months ago I decided to switch most of F&W fest ressie to BCV and cancelled all but our first night at AKV Concierge but it would have been nice, because we planned on arriving and hanging out in the lounge and at the resort. It's a girls trip.

Im waiting on a call back to see if they can put us somewhere else, but its not looking promising that we will have concierge access or even be placed in a resort that offers concierge:headache:

What does that mean, for outside reservations? I have a ressie there in Sept. and I am a bit concerned now. It is my home resort, will I have a problem? Do you know why they are closing it?:confused3

Sorry, it should be outside renovations!:rotfl:

She said scaffolding will be going up and they are closing the rooms off. I think someone posted about this last week, so Im going to look for that thread. If you are late September, you may be impacted. I think only 1 side is closing but she didnt say.

Oh, no! My DH will be crushed if this gets cancelled. He is so excited about getting concierge. We will be there the middle of September. :sad1:

DW and I had booked AKV concierge for a couple of days at the end of September. MS called to tell us that the concierge lounge would be closed then, and offered us a similar room at BWV (for two points less) and with the use of the BWI concierge lounge. All this on the opening weekend of F & W festival!

Just updated!

AKV Concierge closing Sep 29 - Oct 28 2008!

Right now availability is tight everywhere but SSR.

I am waiting on a call back and did not confirm if all of DVC concierge is closing or just 1 side of the 6th floor.

We can still do the safari if scheduled, you will have to take a taxi and they will reimburse you.

Other than that, the priority waitlist may come thru.

I would take that ! I was offered a studio at SSR and thats it, no basket and no mention of returned points. I told her that I want a comparable room wiht concierge offerings as I had planned. I wold even take a non DVC resort room with concierge. heck, I'll take a non-DVC room with the deluxe dining plan if I have to but she kept insisting there was nothing but SSR available.

I am booked for Oct 10-14 and just got the call 15 minutes ago.

They have been calling us for a couple of weeks, but dh was never able to get the person who called us on the phone. Turns out she had a family emergency of some type, so its a good time for me to remember that there are things worse than being kicked out of our first AKVcl trip.

We were given a preferred room at BWV with access to BWIcl and 38 points were returned. We asked to please note our request for a room closer to the inn, since we were near the end of a wing last trip.

I am disappointed, but I am sure that I will be fine when October arrives and I can just hop, skip, and jump over to the IG for the festival! Hmmm, I'm feeling better already.

We had a reservation on the 11th of OCT for AKV concierge studio. They called a couple weeks ago and said they needed to move us do to renovations. They offered us a savannah studio with access to the concierge lounge and refunded the point difference. Now, it sounds like the lounge is might be closed as well. This wasn't what we were told. We need to call and find out.

Good for you! I'm trying for that deal, too. Do you remember who you talked to? I spoke to one supervisor, but I don't think he was high enough on the totem pole to actually make any decisions.

I received a call back from Maggie at MS and she told me if my reservation was impacted I would have already received contact and that she looked on her list and didn't see me listed so my AKVcl is intact for Oct.

What a relief!!!

Actually, DW handled the call, and I don't know who she talked to, but I know she did talk to a supervisor. Also, in response to an earlier poster: I just presumed that the concierge lounge was closed, or otherwise they would have just put us in another room and given us a key to access the lounge. So if they are saying the lounge is open, then I apologize for leading anyone astray. :guilty:

Well I was able to work our reservations out to a satisfactory level this morning. We are being placed at BCV studio for our 1 night and will have Concierge Level Access. Our reservation will be linked to our existing BCV reservation so we will not have to change rooms.

I didnt ask for anything else such as housekeeping for that day or the USA Today, because they would probably forget anyway and then I would just be mad on vacation, so I didnt even go there. They can even keep those 3 points. I cant use them in this UY or the next. My plans are solid for the next year.

I think it will be trying enough to explain to the checkin clerk that it should be noted on my ressie that we have Concierge for 1 day. Im glad we are checking in during MS hours.

So I am no longer a Concierge Refugee. I have a home and we will enjoy our wine and Grand-Ma and still be able to relax on our first day.

I already have AKV Concierge booked for next June, hopefully everything will be fixed by then and we can give AKV another try.

So this has been going on for weeks? No wonder there was barely anything left for those of us notified this week.

Im glad I only had to be placed for 1 day. I doubt I would be at BCV the entire time waiting on MS to call me.

The lounge will remain open. It's the 6th floor rooms that are affected. Not sure how many.

WHAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!! This is the first I head about this and we are coming September 28-Oct 4. We booked a year ago and have another family staying with us in a two bedroom. They have been saving for a year to make this trip happen. I swear I will sell my interest if this gets screwed up. I am LIVID right now!!!!!

Just got off the phone with MS and I am NOT confident. The gentleman I spoke with was unaware of any construction at AKV concierge at that time. He put me on hold for awhile and spoke to a supervisor. He told me the supervisor said my reservation is fine. I asked him if the supervisor told him he knew of the AKV concierge being renovated at that time and he replied "not exactly". I asked to speak to the supervisor. He told me my reservation is "fine at this time". I am FREAKING OUT! I specifically asked him if I would have received a call by now if my reservation had to change and he replied "yes." For some reason I don't believe him and I will be crushed for the not only myself but the family we are taking with whose kids have been dying to go on this trip.
Any ideas about something else I can do to verify my reservation is not affected?

I emailed the concierge staff regarding the closure and here is the reply:

"Dumela! Renee,

The concierge lounge will still be open. The construction is only affecting some of our rooms on the 6th floor and that is why you were moved to a different room for your stay.

So, we have a savannah view room with concierge access. If you haven't been contacted, hopefully, you are unaffected.
