Valet parking and tipping

Never having done valet parking I am unsure whether I am to tip on arrival or just when I get the car back? :confused:

What sort of amount should I be tipping?

Can I use valet when I am not staying at DVC? (We are there for three weeks, the first two in a villa and the last one at SSR).

we tipped at GF both dropping off the car and picking up as we weren't sure.

there is no valet parking at SSR though, unsure if thats where you meant

You can use the valet parking perk when not staying at DVC - just show your blue membership card.

However, AFAIK, it is only available free at DVC resorts that are attached to Disney resort hotels, so AKL, VWL, BWV and BC, so I didn't understand Ali's comments about GF :confused3

The tipping business is often talked about, and there are those who will point you in the direction of well-known US sites which say you should tip on pick-up only. However, I've never had the nerve to do this and leave $2 on drop-off and again on collection.

Yup, we do the same.

$2 drop-off and $2 collection.

Ah, that explains Ali's GF comment. Thanks for that - another new piece of info to store :thumbsup2 BTW, I think valet parking is more expensive than $7 these days - $10 maybe?

opps never knew there was a charge at GF, how bad is that, however, we did have the disabled badge and hubby tipped but will know for next time

we paid the charge and had the disabled badge , didnt know it was free. we had to pay at a kiosk bit at the front and hubby had tipped also when dropping off the car but will know for next time.
