WE had a pool party with friends who are going down in 10 days with us. A question came up:
I know we have 5 counter service meals each day. Does the DDP receipt specify as to whether those are kids meals or adult meals? So could my friend's 9 year old son in effect order an adult CS meal?

On your KTTW card it will designate how many adults and children are in your party. You will not be able to order 4 adult meals at a CS if your card says 2A2C. You are correct in thinking that the credits are all pooled together. You could order 2 meals at a time and pay with your dining plan separately.

The counter service credits are all listed together....There is no indication of child credits and adult credits....However, it is on the Room Key...There is a small code at the bottom that indicates to the CM how many on the plan are adults and how many are children...If you order all five meals at one time they will be looking for you to order two adult meals and three child meals...That is assuming you are ordering at a place with a child menu...Most places do have a children's menu and you will need to order off the child menu for all of your children.

The rules of the DP say he has to order a child's meal. The rules of this board say we abide by Disney rules. So I think you know the answer...
I will tell you there are some places that don't have a child's menu, so be sure to use his credits there. Pizza Planet in DHS is one of them. Main Street Bakery might be another (though my 5yo nephew chose a PB&J Uncrustable anyway). At the top of this thread there is a Sticky: Everything you want to to know...its about the 2007 plan, however there is a list of these places in there.
Another way for him to get an adult meal: share, the CS meals really are sharable and a few times we got 2 Adult meals and there was plenty for our 5yo to eat too. For example at Pizza Planet order the Pizza combo: Salad and a Pizza. I did this, the salad and shared dessert were enough for me and the little person was immensely happy with the pizza. He was kind enough to leave me the edges too. :rolleyes1
An OT comment about MSB, don't order an adult meal per person. The desserts there are so HUGE they qualify as an entree. My advice is to start off sharing. If you devour the entree and dessert and still want more then use the second credit or snack credit to fill up. We shared the basil mozz sandwich and could not finish the carrot cake. It was oh so good as leftovers though.

Actually, all 3 of the kids under 10 in both families are chicken nugget/ mac and cheese kids, so it really was just a hypothetical discussion (honest :) ) Besides, I'm pretty big on setting an example for my kids; I'm not at ALL a fan of the "do as I say, not as I do" style of parenting.
A coworker had told my friend that the credits were all generic; I was pretty sure that there had to be a way to distinguish between adult and kid meals.
Thanks for the info; I'll pass it on.

correct me if I'm wrong, I think 10 yr olds are adults on the DDP. I think the kid's plan is only for kids 3-9.

Nope, you're right; my 10 year old is an adult.
He eats like one anyway.
It was a hypothetical question about my friend's 9 year old son.
But I've gotten the answer; thanks to all who responded.

From what I know, kids have to order off of the kids menu. When we had the dining plan in January, our receipt specified how many meal credits we used. It didn't break down which were adult meal credits or kids meal credits.

It is against WDW's policy concerning the dining plan to use children's CS credits to order adult meals. The DIS will not advocate violating this policy. Because the OP got her response, this thread is being closed before it gets a chance to veer into such advocation.
