I know we need to take birth certificates for the kids. Do we need to take them for the adults as well? We both have drivers' licenses, but our passports have expired.

Expired passports are no longer accepted as proof of citizenship. You will need to either have a certified copy of your birth certificate or a valid passport along with your photo ID.

Just for peace of mind make scanned (color) copies of your photo IDs and your birth certificates. If you happen to loose the original you will at least have the copies to help prove who you are.
Put them wherever you put the card with your credit card number and and credit card provider phone number. You really need to do this just in case you loose them.

Ruvidu, how do you know this is a good idea, you may ask.

Because I have lost my wallet with driver's liscense and credit card on the first day of a cruise.

Have a safe trip.
