It's from signing up at disney.com.
Right before my 2004 trip, I registered with their website and gave them my email. I have always gotten those Disney Destination emails, but never, ever a pin.
But about 4 months ago when I started planning a May trip, I called and asked if there was a pin attached to my name. She said no but double-checked my email address to make sure it was right. It was, and funny enough, about a month later I received my first pin code! I've had another since then - so I guess I'm getting them about once a quarter.
So be sure you are registered, and if you are, make sure they have the right address!

I'm also registered at disney.com and when I look at my profile it has my correct e-mail address. However, every time I call Disney (to make a payment, make a change to my reservation, etc) and they confirm my information they have my e-mail address wrong. The first part is correct but the @ _____ part is from an old e-mail address. They'll correct it but it never fails every time I call back it's the old address again. I wonder why? I just keep thinking they are sending codes to my old e-mail address.
I guess I should just pick up the phone and ask if there are any codes attached to my name .....

I've been registered for at least 3 years, and no pin codes thus far.

For four years not a single pin and only after I called a few months ago did I start getting them. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it all, but calling and checking on your email can't hurt!

I have been registered with email for over 8 years and never got a pin code nor a post card in the mail. I do go every year for the past 15 years.
My SIL, she has gotten post cards with pin code every year or every other year. She had only gone to Disney 2 times in about 15 years.
I think she is on the entice back list.
I think it is hard to figure out, I guess they have many marketing strategies they use.

I'm glad you got the code, but it's probably not something you did for them to just start sending you the email. You could have been on the do not call list and when you contacted them they removed you from that option. It could be alot of things, but most of us are in the same boat and have never received a PIN. Congrats on the code.
I've just purchased an AP as they usually always get a discount code prior to general public codes being released. They are similar to the bounce back codes: 40% villas, 30% deluxe/mods or 20% values but they do vary too. I'm tired of waiting for a PIN so opted into an AP for the first time ever. YAY!

May I ask what number did you call? Thanks

I think that registering just puts you into the running. It's a necessary step, but beyond that you either need luck or to fit some sort of profile that no one knows about.

Who do we call to check on pins?
I just called CRO and was asking about a room and she checked my email for me. I wonder if me calling bumped my account up - like it goes dormant after a while? :confused3
