VWL boat question

I am going to a wedding first weekend in may, and staying at VWL....my question is...If I take the boat over to magic kingdom, how far is the walk to wedding pavilion and then grand floridian, and how late does the boat run?.....also if anyone can think of a better way to go please let me know...thanx

You can take the boat to the Contemporary and catch the monorail or just take a bus to the TTC and get the monorail there. Don't think you can walk to the GF from the MK. One other option is to get on one of the buses to Epcot, MGM, or Animal Kingdom. They usually stop at the Poly then the GF. Ask the driver first to make sure they will be going that route.

you can take the boat to the Mk then the boat to the Polyn or Gf - you have to walk to the wedding pavilion from either of these resorts. You can ask if there is a direct boat to the wedding pavilion but I think there is marina there.

Just read on another board that the WL bus was now sharing with FW, not Poly and GF (and the bugs needed to be worked out). Don't have any personal experience and only read it once, but will find out for myself next month.

There are definitely changes going on for FW and WL bus systems but not clear what they are yet. Basically, they are supposed to going to a system where FW busses go to WL and then to Epcot, MGM, and AK. FW previously had the worse bus system as you had to go to TTC to switch to transports to take you to those parks. What is not clear (and recent visitors need to report) is whether there is even a bus that goes to TTC anymore -- apparently the Boone and Crockett busses are gone or renamed.

The wedding pavilion is between GF and Poly and accessible from either but somewhat closer to GF. You cannot walk from MK to either GF or Poly. Boat to Contemporary and then monorail to GF is possibly the best way although boat to MK and then boat to GF is a pleasant trip. Other alternative would have been bus to TTC and then monorail to GF but that route may not exist anymore.

Since you are going to a wedding, I just wanted to add one thing.
The boat to the Contemporary has open sides and you will get wind blown if its breezy. The MK boat is closed on the sides.

Although the boat to the MK is closed on the sides, the boat from the MK to the GF/Poly has open sides. So either way, if you take a boat, you are going to be in the open air at some point.

Have you considered taking a cab? The WL is actually not that far away from the Wedding Pavilion (maybe 5min. by car). Bell Services would certainly call a cab for you. I can't imagine it costing more than $5-$10.

Directions from WL to WP by car:

As you exit the WL property, you come to a traffic light at the corner of Timberline Drive and World Drive. Continue straight through the traffic light. You will now be on Seven Seas Drive. You will pass the Disney Kennel, TTC and the Poly on your right. After the Poly, make a right onto Floridian Way. The Wedding Pavilion will be a little ways down on your right.
