Ok, so I got on the Disboards this morning with NO intention of booking a trip. I noticed at the top that the ticket prices were going up. So out of curiosity, I looked them up. Didn't really seem to be much of a change, but it's been a while since we have bought tickets. Out of curiosity, I also looked at the 2009 packages. I noticed the new Quick Service dining plan. And I noticed that they have a Junior plan that would include our two teenagers. My mind started reeling. I started thinking....and thinking. I mentioned it to my DH. He didn't seem to really protest so I called WDW (they are on my speed dial) and booked a trip! Just a short one, three nights and four days. But we are going on my DD's 16th B-day! We will be there Dec 3-6. And it will be decorated for Christmas!!!!! I have always wanted to go to WDW when the Christmas decorations were up. YAY!!!!:cool1: :cheer2:

We are going to be there December 5 - 12, 2009. I am very excited. This will be our first trip where not only are we taking our children (daughter 9, son 2) but also my mom will be flying down to meet us for the week. So we chose one of the family suites. I have never been during the holiday season and I am a Christmas fanatic, so I am sure I am going to be giddy as a child in a candy store.

My husband and I are planning a trip for around the first week of December '09. He keeps picking on me for researching/planning so much when it's so far away, but I can't help it! It will be the first time I won't be staying on property since the very first time I went about 14 years ago, which I'm a little nervous about. We'll be staying at our timeshare, and taking my parents and his along for the trip. I'm very excited to be going when it'll be decorated for Christmas! We're New Orleans people, so we always went at Mardi Gras before.

I booked our trip last week. We're staying at BWI on the Club Level the 2-9th of next year. This was a big deal because we're taking my parents on their 1st ever WDW trip - our treat. I am so excited. I'm more excited to see them there with their grandson than anything. OK, I'm also really excited to see the parks decorated for Christmas too.

Still in the planning stages, so not sure about the dates yet, but I will be there. I can't decide whether to take my daughter out of school for a while to go or just wait until her winter break. Also, I could stay longer if I wait and go over Christmas rather than early December. Any suggestions??

DH probably won't be going since he has limited vacation time (plus he isn't as fond of Disney as we are. . .freak!). Planning my Dec 09 at POFQ! This will by my first time at WDW while the Christmas decorations are up, and I could not be more excited! I was there this past year while the Halloween decorations are up, and it was amazing! Has anyone been to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? My best friend and I are going together, as a girls-trip. She and I are both a kid at heart, and we were thinking about going to the Christmas Party, but I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on it, for two 20somthing Disney Girls!

My mom (55) and I (22) did Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party this past December and it was AWESOME! It turned out to be our favorite part of this trip. We loved the special shows, the parade, and the special Wishes. We also loved how there were so many more characters out (like the hard to find Alice-my favorite who I finally got a picture with) and how the lines were so much shorter for the rides. I think especially for "kids at heart" this is a must!!!

I am already planning our next trip in December 2009! We will be staying at PoP again from Dec. 18th-23rd!!! I can't wait!!!

As long as DH can get off we're going in early Dec 09. We'll know in a few weeks. Anyway, our plan is to keep it a total surprise from the kids. We'll pack when they are asleep. We'll get up and head to the airport but not say where we are going. I know it won't be long though for DD to find out. After we're there for a few days, we'll tell them we have to go home, but we'll actually be heading out for a Disney cruise! Then, after the cruise, they'll think we are going home. Daddy will have to home, but the kids and I will head back to the parks for a few days. DD keeps asking us when we'll go again and we say at least 2 years so she will be so happy.

Just an FYI.. we usually find Alice in England at Epcot. Check there if you don't see her at MK and would like to see her again.

An unexpected pin code for 40% off convinced me to try a Christmas trip. The last time we went during Christmas was 14 years ago for our honeymoon. We booked AKV Kidani for Dec. 24th thru Jan 1. We have never been down at Christmas and are very curious as to the decorating and special attractions. My DW has been after me for at least five years to try it and I just happened to be on the phone with MS and the CM said would you like to book for the Holidays and I figured why not try.

So if anyone has any good Holiday season tips I would love to hear them.

:wizard:We are staying at Bay Lake Towers From Dec. 16-23. For the last three years we have been going at Christmas. In 2007 we stayed from Dec.20-28 and last year we stayed Dec.16-23. No place like Disney for the holidays:santa:

This trip we are really excited about. It will be the first time we will be staying at our new home resort!!! We will have the Magic Kingdom view that will let us see the fireworks from our window!!! And being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom when it is sooo crowded is also a plus! Never thought as an adult I would be wishing Christmas to hurry up and get here!!

See you all there! :woohoo:

I'm going December 13th - 20th for DS's 4th birthday. My mom and I have been planning this trip since before he was born! So far it's my mom, my dad, me, DS, and my dad's mom who are going on this trip. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge and I'm really excited to see the Christmas decorations!!!

I'm impatiently waiting to be able to do more planning - it's hard with waiting to see what the park hours will be and what night MVMCP will be and we'll have to wait until September to make our ADRs!

We were at FW cabins last December and loved it (with free dining :goodvibes ), and we said we weren't going again this year... but I just HAVE to go back!

I am so envious! I have been begging DS and DIL to go with us (so the two granddaughters can come of course) but even tho we have offered to pay, they think the girls are "too young" and refuse.:sad2:
Have fun. :dance3: The grandparents (and of course, you and your husband!) will have a wonderful time! WDW couldn't be better at Christmas:santa:

We will be at POP 12/26 thru 1/2! It is our first time going for the holidays, we are usually there in the heat of the summer. I know it will be very, very crowded and we are prepared for that! I have a couple of questions from those that have been the Christmas/New Year's week. First is a dumb one ... what should be pack? Is it warm enough for shorts or should we plan pants for every day. Second, I was reading last year's New Year's Eve schedule and see that the Christmas parade is in the MK. Is the Christmas parade done every day or is the 'regular' parade there other days during the week? THANK YOU for any info. (Yeah, I know it is really, really far away but after the winter we have had, I need something to look forward to! )

Dec. 2009 traveler here! We've booked Coronado as an upgrade to our normal All Star Sports - it just looks insanely romantic & the new rooms look awesome. Contemporary is our favorite, but just way too expensive for us to justify when it's not our honeymoon :lmao:

It kills me when I think about how much extra money we are putting towards CSR compared to a value. I have never stayed at POP - my parents did once and hated it so we've stuck to our All Stars. Reading around the boards, people seem to love POP here. So I guess I'm just confused.

But regardless - I'm going in December!!

Dec.24 to Jan. 2! CanNOT wait!! We used to go every winter but will have taken a 3 year break by then!!

Who else is going the actual week of Christmas? Have you done it before? What are your favorite tips?

We did it Christmas 2005. Pleasantly surprised how many attractions we were able to do with our FP. Really surprised. Also, taking it easy and enjoying things - not getting caught up in the crowd anxieties, bad stroller drivers, etc! :rotfl:

Oh, and we're celebrating my 40th Birthday, my husband's 40th Birthday and both of his parents' 70th Birthdays!

We sort of planned to go last year for Christmas 2008, but wasn't diligent enough about saving and when gas hit $4 a gallon, well, there went so much of the budget, you know? So, in January, I secretly decided to start putting aside a little every week and spent the winter plotting and planning a fun way to announce to my family that we'll go for Christmas. I stayed up late after DH was sound asleep and scoured the DISign Boards and ended up with several custom t-shirts and fun plans for each 23rd of the months between now and when we leave in December. You know, little gifts that arrive every month to have a little Disney Magic to keep you excited! I talked to my DH's parents, got them excited to join us. So for his 40th Birthday in February, instead of a romantic getaway for 2, I gave him the promise (and a starter fund) for a fabulous family trip for 6! Put it together with what we'd spend on my 40th in Dec, plus what we'd spend on Christmas (mostly, the trip is the gift b/c what do any of us REALLY need?) and we've got it made!!

So for the reveal, I basically wrote out the above explanation and then said, "so maybe we'll go somewhere for Christmas," and had 3 boxes for the kids to open. Out of each box floated a Mickey head balloon, JUST LIKE THE COMMERCIALS, with an envelope attached to the ribbon and a cute custom "ticket" from the DISers...OHHH!! Their faces were priceless! We are all VERY excited.

I will try to post pictures after I take the kids to school.

Ok I haven't been to DW during Christmas for 15 years but we'll be there same week as you for our Anniversary. We will be there from Nov 27th to Dec 6th, already have a cabin booked at Ft. Wilderness. Just got back from a quick 4 night trip Sunday. We were going to go to Disney for Christmas of 2010 but when the 40% off code came via email in Jan, we decided to go this Christmas instead. It will be our 2nd DS's 5th birthday when we're there. Dec. 12th we are staying at POR and then the 13-19 club level at the Polynesian.

We're keeping it a secret from the kids. We've told them we are still planning to go in 2010 but we aren't going to tell them that we are going this Christmas until sometime between Halloween and Dec. 1st. I'm horrible at secrets, so we'll see if I can keep this one. :rotfl:

This is the first time any of us has stayed on property. DH went to Disney World and Disneyland as a kid. My parents could never afford to take my brothers and I, so I had never been. DH and I visited Epcot, the Boardwalk, and DTD for a day eight years ago on a Florida vacation. We've wanted to take our kids to Disney ever since. We are all soooo excited! :yay::yay:

We were actually in the back when we stayed at the Sports Resort in the Hoops section. Even though we were quite a walk to the main building, we were right near the parking lot! :thumbsup2 After looking at a map, it kind of looks like the same situation. We are planning a trip for Dec. 4-8 (tentative dates) to celebrate DH's 27th birthday. This will also be the first trip for our kids. I have only been to the World once (back in '02) and DH has only ever been to Epcot, so we are super excited! I haven't booked yet, though, and I have a question that maybe someone here can answer for me - if, after I book, I get a code or they decide to offer a FD or 4/3 special, will I be able to change my ressie to take advantage of it? Or am I locked in at the price I book at? TIA!

From my understanding, if you call with a discount code, Disney will apply it to your existing reservation. If it's been paid for, I've heard they'll even issue a refund of the difference.

Yesterday was a MAGICAL day! I called Disney to see about scheduling an August trip with free dining. I had mixed feelings about our dates because DD would have been missing the FIRST week of school. (Free dining starts on August 16th and school starts on August 17th!)

On a whim, I asked the CM to check to see if there was any type of PIN code attached to our name. WOOOOOHOOOOO! We had a free dining code for stays between October 2 and December 17!!

We are THRILLED! I booked our trip for November 27th to December 5!!!! We had been hoping for a holiday trip and Disney made our dreams come true!

Glenda

I knew they could do this! I received a PIN but it was for adults pay and eat at the price of kids, which is okay, but not as good as free. Anyway, I asked the CM if she could check to see if any other pins were attached to my name and she said that there was no way to find out. I told her that I knew she could and yet she still stated that they have no way of looking up PINS. Makes me want to call back but are the chances of them saying I have another PIN (or offering another later) when I'm already booked?

Anyway, I did book the offer for Dec 2-5 and Dec 12-17. We'll be on the Disney Magic from Dec 5-12 so it will be 2+ fun filled weeks for me :cool1:.
