View Full Version : Scrapping with Swapped Items Round 10: WE HAVE A WINNER
123SA
08-02-2008, 09:45 PM
Hosted by Coolcat and 123SA
Starts today and ends September 2.
Post pictures of the layouts you create using at least TWO swapped items. These are NEW layouts, not ones you have already done. Any swapped item can be used. You do not need to remember which swap or who they came from. Your pages must be 6x6 or bigger. But any size variation is welcome. They can be single pages or double layouts, but each page must have two swapped items. Your name will be placed in the jar for every page you create up to 15 pages. This is not a who did the most or best. It is for everyone who tries.
If you are unable to post pictures, or don't know how, you can email them to me and I will post them for you. Just pm me for my email address!
The winning name pulled will receive a prize. Coolcat will make an altered clipboard.
The winner will host the next round of this challenge. So only enter if you are okay with hostessing.
This is open to old swappers, new swappers, anyone who has swapped here is to join this challenge.
Do as many pages as you want, but only 15 will qualify for a name in the jar. My pages won't count.
I can't wait to see all your wonderful pages!!!!!!
Here is the prize: An altered notebook designed and completed by Coolcat. I put the paper on, she did the rest.

Actually good! Today seems to be a "good" day:goodvibes Itching to work on my ABC's but I've run out of some of my supplies and have to wait for Randy to get home before I can go replenish...(kids refuse to accompany me on my scrap shopping forays... )

We get home from the World a week before this one closes, and I'll have to recover from the trip and get the kids ready to start school (on September 3, which is 31 days away, but I'm not counting or anything:))......so I may have to wait until Round 11. BUT, with the ABC, quotes, and resort swap stuff I have, I will ABSOLUTELY participate next time.

If I did all my swapping in one month it would probably add up to one plane ticket:rotfl: DS(14) wants cowboy boots for his birthday, so DH has been looking online but with the different sizing etc. he really needs to try some on - I've suggested it would not cost much more than the postage to fly out for a couple of days;) Kicky said he wanted to go to New York for his birthday "because its sophisticated" (:confused3 who puts these ideas in his head? And where did he get the idea I was going to spend several hundred ££ on his b/day :lmao: ) If the flights start to come down maybe I could persuade DH for half term in October....... I've got loads of leave left so i could just bring the boys and save DH's airfare for scrapping stuff :goodvibes Kicky couldn't really tell the difference between Boston and NY if I tell him the Empire State is closed that week

Bad bad slacker co-hostess! I am so sorry! I lost track of this -- ABC swaps is my lame excuse.
Great pages Nancy! :cheer2: I'll let the little hostess know she has to get planning her prize. We did pick up some supplies for it. I am so glad that she won and not me. I couldn't match DisneyIsTerrific's fabulous prize last month.:worship:

I was so happy to get the Sports Swap back earlier this week because I have tons of pictures to use for those pieces. Here are the first few I've done. I've pulled photos for others, but I need to get more ink to copy them so they'll come later.
These are all from the Sports Swap.
This page has a topper and tag from Cocacolamom:
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s191/sadsadler/Pages/pages001.jpg
This page uses the title letters and license plate from 123SA
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s191/sadsadler/Pages/pages002.jpg
This page uses the topper and 1 of the tags from Mazda. There was a 2nd tag, but I couldn't get it to work on the page since I made a tag of my own to list where these were taken.
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s191/sadsadler/Pages/pages003.jpg
These 2 pages use my items - a topper on the 1st page and a photomat and journal box on the 2nd page. These are the 1st pages I've done for the Montana trip we took in June. When I made these pieces, I knew I'd be using them for this!

I think it does. The point of this challenge I believe is to use the stuff. I just like to see what everyone does with it. It is neat to the same pieces on different pages.
For this round it counts. I suppose future hostesses can change that if they want to. One page = 1 spot in the prize jar.

I probably have about 75 pages from this past wekend with swap items on them- almost all the pages I did were using swap items. I will begin to take pictures and upload them once I get unpacked. For now I am going to get over my cold and rest from the exhaustion of it all. It was great fun but very tiring.
Mazda- your pages look great- don't swap items make the pages so much faster to complete?

very good rebecca! so tell me something...... how much time did you actually spend scrapping this weekend?? is there someone in the room all night??
YOu can stay in the room all night and many did- lets see my scrapping time:
Friday: 10:30-1:00, 2:30-4:00, 6:30-6:45, 7:30-11:30
Saturday: 6:45-7:15, 9:30-1:30, 3:30-6:30, 7:30-11:00
Sunday: 9:00-9:20, 11:00-1:00
Those were the times I was on the scrap floor and most of my time was spent scrapping. I did take a break to help Buffy put the SDV books in order and I did walk around and talk a little while and I took a couple of breaks to look at things in the stores but most of that time I was scrapping, so I guess that is about 20 hours on the floor and probably 1 hour of that was talking, shopping, and getting things out and putting them away. I scraped 120 complete pages and 4 more need a little journaling or one more picture on them. I had already kits all of my pages.
I took my photos and embellishments(swap items) and layed them out. I choose out background paper and mating paper that worked with all of them. Then I placed the background paper in a 2 gallon bag and the pictures and embellishments into a quart ziploc. I put the quart ziplock in the 2 gallon bag. I did that same thing until I had about 10 pages per ziplock bag with the background and matting paper along with photos and embellishments. When I got there I would take out a the whole kit. Put down the background paper, figure out where things would go on the paper, then quickly mat the photos once, and then attached everything to the paper. All done with a layout, pull out the next kit and keep going.

So organized ... I would love to do that. I haven't been printing my photos. I will take me so long to go through the photos and decide on what to print...it just so depressing. I am completely unmotivated to do that part. Maybe after I see yours, I'll get inspired.

I think I couldn't manage without swap items now - especially on those pages which "need" to be done but are hard because they're repeats (like birthdays) or you only have one or two pics. *** I certainly would never sit down and MAKE any of this stuff just for one page! That's why I love the colour swap - get those babies slapped down and the page does itself:thumbsup2

These 2 pages only count as 1 since I only used 3 swap items total. The topper, tag, and journal box were made by Mazda in the Sports Swap.

I love your pages - glad you can use my pieces :goodvibes
If your DS is into dinosaurs he might like the book I got the title from - its called "Humpus Bumpus Dinosaurumpus" (or something like that) - DS(8) found it in the library at school when he was in Nursery (your kindergarden I suppose) and whenever they chose books to come home he'd pick that one - its a story in rhyme about all the different dinosaurs going to a party. I can't remember who wrote it but it should come up if you Google it (or on Amazon).

Thanks Mazda. DS used to adore dinosaurs. But, the photos I used on that page are old and he's now 15 so not into dino's anymore. I still have a few of his dino books, but we never read Humpus Bumpus Dinosaurumpus. I may check at the library for it just for my own enjoyment!!!

It is that easy- just choose out the photos and do it. I find the main problem people have is they are saving that page or item for the perfect picture and want it to be perfectly in line- nothing is going to be perfect and done is better than just sitting around- my motto is just do it- when it comes to scrapping. Don't be afraid to use the paper you have in case you take a better picture sometime- use it now and have a chance to enjoy it and allow others to appreciate it also. What good are those swap items if they are just sitting in our drawers, boxes, and carts- get them out and use them to finish a few pages.

I love all your pages! It's always exciting to see your own items used, isn't it? Those are my Lion King pieces (j. boxes, circles and quote box). I'm glad you could use them!
I am going to a 3 day Scrap Pink crop at the end of September, and I have been starting to plan what I'll work on for that. I totally agree that I have been saving many swap items for "later" because they were just so great I didn't want to use it and not have it anymore. No more of that! I am planning on using a ton of stuff for that weekend.

Good for you. I found kitting my items made such a difference. It was easy to pull it out and paste it down. Besides if you use up all your swap items you have an excuse to join more swaps and make new things.

I just got my first swap items and am looking forward to using the Snow White cameo set I got and will hopefully be able to post. I dont know exactly who I first read it from but I found that the kitting idea using gallon sized baggies really does help! I hope to be a user of swap peices and not a horder.
I took part in the paper swap and have started using some of it for my AK swap peices. Does that count for anything?

I sorted all my pics for the DLRP trip in my CM box (OK it was a BIT bulgy and I didn't have enough "pages" but by doubleing up I managed  but yes it does help to have pics and swap items all ready to go, that's why I had a load of pages to post too (this was mostly from ONE day, scrapping in between getting kids school stuff ready). I still had to choose paper, and some pages had to change because the swap items were a colour which didn't quite work with the pics I took, but I agree its too easy to save everything. Same with patterned paper - I worry its a "waste" to use a whole sheet on one page - what else am I going to use it for?:lmao:
