So....when you're paying for the DDP, you make sure you get AT LEAST the value of what you paid for if not more, right? With that in mind, where do you get the most bang for your buck when you use a CS credit?
I know Cosmic Rays and Wolfgang Puck Express offer great deals. I haven' ttried WPE yet, but plan to in November.
So...what are your favorites? Where do you get the most for your CS credit?

actually, no, i dont try to get the best bang for my buck. this year i happen to be getting it free, but i have paid for it in the past. when we paid for it i never once thought about making sure i get the most expensive meal, or eat at the most expensive place.
the TS i choose are the ones we like, it has nothing to do with cost of food. ive eaten at le cellier, wasnt impressed at all. just because it costs more, doesnt mean im getting more bang for my buck, if im not enjoying it.
and the same goes for counter sevices. we dont plan our counter services. where we are when we get hungry is where we eat.
personally i would think once you have to start figuring in cost its stops being enjoyable.

You get the most bang for your buck when you choose the most expensive item on the menu. That being said you have to eat what you feel comfortable with. Generally based on the cost for items at different CS locations one of the ones I like to use is Flame Tree BBQ in AK. Get the dessert with each of your CS meals. You may not want to eat it right away but you are entitled to it so take it with you to snack on later. I figure that as long as my total overall meal costs for my trip are more than what I paid for the plan it is worth it. So maybe some days I don't go for the most expensive CS on the menu but if I want the Bacon Cheeseburger one day instead of the regular one it's covered by the plan no matter what. I do go for the more expensive items when I do TS and I will order a dessert which I don't normally do when I pay oop for meals, so the bill for that one meal usually is close to the daily cost of the regular dining plan. So I end up getting the better end of the deal when I use the Dining Plan. I do miss those appetizers though.

You'll be so much happier if you eat what you like.
We did the "maximizing" the first time we did the DDP. We were much happier consecutive times when we ordered what we wanted to eat.

I agree with the pp. I honestly never give a thought to 'best value' when ordering my meals (TS or CS) on the dining plan. I order what I feel like at the time. I have used our CS credits happily for Pizza Planet, Pecos Bills, Sunshine Seasons @ the Land, Wolfgang Puck Express, Flame Tree ,the food court at our resort or any of the CS spots at many of the countries in World Showcase, etc.. and have always been very happy!:)

Just my oppinion, but I think some good value locations for CS are:
AK: Flame Tree BBQ
Yak & Yeti Counter Service
Epcot: Sunshine Seasons
Coronado Springs: Pepper Market
Downtown Disney: Cookes of Dublin & Wolfgangs Express
Have a great trip!

We order what we want for the CS meal, but have used the TS meal to check out some of the "higher end" restaurants at a bargain. Usually the TS meal came to more than the DDP for the day, so the CS & Snack were "free".
This next trip will be our first without the appetizer, but I think it will still be worthwhile (I love the filet at Le Cellier and Kona Cafe!)

I don't have to always get the most expensive meal on the menu. I will eat what I like...I'm picky, there are a lot of things I don't like! :lmao: But when I am paying for the Dining Plan, I want to KNOW I will AT LEAST get the value I paid for it. Approx $38...makes sense, right? If I know I wouldn't get AT LEAST the value of what I paid for it, why even book the plan???
I have done the Dining Plan multiple times and since I am a planner, I like to have an idea in advance what CS places I might want to go to. I don't want to go to places that will only serve burgers and fries...been there, done that, want to try new and better things!
Thank you to those who have responded so far. Any other opinions are welcome!
THANKS! :)

Buy the food you want w/o having a reservation or server. CS is simple the DP gives you freedom to eat as you please, just enjoy it. It is one of the few times I can honestly ignore prices.

That lamb and chicken platter costs about $15! I never get it but I might if I used the dining plan.
Does the CS need to be in a park? I have seen posts that say you can get steak for a CS credit at Pepper Market (Coronado Springs).

IMHO if you think this way you will drive yourself NUTS
I am not sure what plan you have..... but if you have the what I call basic plan 1TS...1 CS and a snack you will easily spend more then $39.99 pp a day.
If you really like to live it up and have the DxDDP 3TS or CS (any combination) meals a day and two snacks your going to easily spend more then $79.99 pp a day.
Relax and enjoy yourself.....and eat what you like and be happy it is ALREADY paid for and you can order what you want.
That said I think you should definently have some TS ADRs. Last year we had the basic plan and had a nice dinner EVERY night. We really needed this time as a family. This year we will be at the World two weeks. We decided on the DxDDP and made plans to have some nice breakfasts and dinners together....again the family time we needed. For lunch if we are hungry we will have CS or grab a snack. I am not worried if we do not use all of our credits. I am just so happy all we have to worry about is money for souviners.
But again this is just my opinion you may feel differently. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Yes, but more importantly, the platter tastes good, and is a little more adventurous than the electric umbrella.

I'm not giving them $15 for it no matter what it tastes like, I can get a wrap there for $10.

You can use CS credits anywhere that takes them, including resorts and DTD. Earl of Sandwhich and Wolfgang Puck Express are great uses of CS credits. :thumbsup2

I appreciate this thread as I am planning my first trip to DW and getting the DDP. I am not a picky eater and I love to try new foods (with some exceptions). There are more CS and TS places at DW that I would love to check out than I can go to in a week. Of those, why shouldn't I select the ones that give the most bang for the buck?! And why would I want to use my CS credits on food similar to what I can afford to purchase OOP at home when there are CS options with foods that would normally not be within my budget - if it was even available to me.

I enjoy things more when I know that I am getting more bang for my buck :cheer2: and especially when something normally out of my budget becomes affordable.::dance3: I can't wait to try out Wolfgang Puck with my CS credit!: :yay:
