Thanks - two good signs so far, the CT scan showed potential for sinus infection, so they have started a course of antibiotics to see if that helps (full body scan two weeks from now).
The other good news, he finally decided that if he was going to feel miserable for a few weeks without his thyroid meds, he might as well give up smoking. Something we've been working on for two years (anyone who has raised a teenager knows how hard that can be), and it seems like it will work.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Dan, I'm sending lots of prayers up for Justin and the whole family. He's been through so much for such a young man. Please tell him congrats on quitting smoking!! I remember starting that awful habit as a teenager. July will be 10 years smoke free for me!! I know it's a difficult addiction to quit, but so important for him to do! :grouphug: to all of you!

LOL! Funny you posted this today Al, as I was thinking about you last night when I was watching the weather. I saw where they said it was some 49 degrees, and their were frost warnings up your way. All I want to do, is go to work, do my job and come home. Sounds easy enough.
Well it seems Tuesday when I was off the Asst. Manager went to corporate about the Manager ( which she had every right to do, he is NOT doing his job ). So now we have politics and divisions for each manager. Well today the Asst. Manager told 2 of the girls refusing to work under her watch to go home, and the screaming and cursing started. So I went to restock the bathrooms, when I came out we had a customer :scared1: , so I calmly told them we had a customer, that now made ME the brunt of their anger. My shift was already up I was just helping out staying late, so I asked the Asst. if I could leave, she said yes, I was SO out of there.
Sounds like I'm in for a FUN weekend. :scared1:
We have been self-employed since 1983.
My questions are, do people "work" at your workplace? Is there backstabbing, politics and fights there? How do you deal with it?

Unfortunately, yes, at every place I have ever worked. Even being self-employed from 01-07 didn't help. Then the fighting and politics came from my clients (that's what I get for working for lawyers). I don't see as much in my current job, mainly because we are spread out all over the country and all work from home. That keeps the contacts down a bit, and help dampen the political games. On the other hand, when someone is palying games this means that you can't see it coming. Pros and cons.

I just saw that the largest US banks paid billions in bonuses - the average per employee at Goldman was $160,000! How many people here earn that in a salary every year - how about half that? These clowns don't get it.
Even though Goldman wasn't that unhealthy, if we hadn't bailed out the other banks and AIG - Goldman would have failed. What's wrong with these clowns?
I know the average is skewed because of the large bonus paid to a very few employees - but........ do they deserve that kind of compensation? Not in my opinion they don't

THE TRAILER LEAKED AGAIN TODAY
They delivered it back to the house after testing it. Nancy had the service guy show her what work was done before letting him disconnect. They opened the trailer and found it soaking wet in the back from the drive over from the dealer.
Back it went for more work.
As mad as I am, I have to say that the dealer is being very responsive. If they don't have the leak fixed and returned to us by Monday afternoon, they are re-imbursing us for the lost reservation fees at the local state park, and they are picking it up, returning it. Also good at explaining that they have to try a series of fixes before they have to send it back to the manufacturer for them to redo the thing. Unfortunately, it sounds like they are way too familiar with this process (like Donny said), and it seems like this is too common.

Well today the Asst. Manager told 2 of the girls refusing to work under her watch to go home, and the screaming and cursing started.
Amazing! If I were the manager (asst or otherwise) I'd tell them to go home & not come back. There are too many people needing work for someone to have that kind of attitude - whether they like the manager or not.
My questions are, do people "work" at your workplace? Is there backstabbing, politics and fights there? How do you deal with it?
At Verizon, there was this kind of behavior all the time. I stayed away from it all as much as I could.
Working at THD, remarkably I see very little of this. We're more of a family & help each other out. There is talking behind backs, but most of it is good-hearted teasing or discussing ways to help people who are having problems. Another reason I love working at THD. We have a great staff of people.
Now, at church, even though I'm the only one, sadly members come in and try to gossip about each other. I either tactfully change the subject or in the case of some, tell them outright that I don't care to hear it. When I first started at the church, people would come to voice their grievances about others. I handed them a composition notebook and asked them to write it down so I could remember what was said and address the issue with the person being complained about. That tactic stopped people dead in their tracks!:rolleyes1 I learned this method from a wise Pastor from my youth & never forgot it. Thank you, Pastor Rehkopf.

That's what is going through our minds right now, knowing that there were other options in the same price range and a little better built. They just didn't have the floor plan that the kids and Nancy fell in love with.
From what I understand, they try one more time, if that does not work, it goes back to Keystone. Waiting and waiting. Beautiful weekend weather right now and I wish we were camping somewhere.

She has a second degree burn on her hand from the chemicals in the air bag deployment system and some abrasions. Fortunately, she wasn't going very fast but she did rear end of all things a BMW and the police were having some issue with the driver and mentioned "illegal" a couple times in reference to him, but he threw them off by starting to complain about his neck and being removed in an ambulance. Looks like he had minor damage, but Chris has front end damage, every airbag in the car deployed and the air bag on the passenger side up front shattered the windshield. Her loser boyfriend kept whining about ringing in his ears at the emergency room - I told him when he gets his insurance card at home (why don't people carry these things with them?????) he can get his butt to the emergency room and have it checked out. He'll probably sue Chris. I'm sure the other driver will. Thank God she is not on our insurance. It was definitely her fault, and with 2 accidents in 7 months, I am sure the consequences with her insurance will be severe. I really think, for the safety of others, she falls into that category of people who should not drive. I am going to strongly suggest she take a driving class as a refresher before she gets behind the wheel again. Carol and I have about had it right now. I am going to front her the money to cover her deductible since, of course, she doesn't have enough money, but I am making her sign a promissory note and setting up a repayment schedule. I can't stand other people's mistakes costing me money.

Yeah..if she hit the other car in the rear..it will probably go down as being her fault.
You know..we've got five cars(and drivers) on our policy. We are all living at the same address. I had wanted to put the two younger kids on their own polcies..BUT....our insurance would require us to sign an affidavit stating that the kids never drove our vehicles. Which of course..would be a lie. Since we are always switching cars..for one reason or another. If only to move them out of the driveway to get to another. If for any reason they did get in an accident in our vehicles..they wouldn't be covered. So both the 18 year old and 22 year old are on our policy. We're lucky... my daughter has an excellent driving record...not so much as a parking ticket. The rates did drop when she hit 21..and then we had to add the then 17 year old.:headache: My husband says by the time we stop getting hit with sir charges for inexperienced operators..we'll be getting hit with surcharges for being senior drivers...:rolleyes1
I sympathize with you Jim. (oh and in regard to the boyfriend too..I hear ya there.)

Jim - she's is lucky to have come out of this basically unscathed. You are parents "above and beyond" the duty of baling her out on the deductible. You are also extemely wise to set up a payment plan to reimbuse the expense to you. Have a notary stick their seal on it is so it's nice and legal. Figure out a method of "punishment" should she neglect to make a payment. Added interest, late fee, whatever you feel is appropriate. Include that in the terms of the contract. It will definitely hurt her pocketbook & she will think twice about being inattentive when driving in traffic. If she screws up a 3rd time, oh well. That's why God gave us feet. Al's & my middle brother had to learn this the hard way & he lived to tell the tale (just barely after Dad got finished with him - YOWCH!)

I have never posted on the angry thread, but darnit, I'm mad right now. DH is sooo laid back and he is like "whatever" about everything. My parents recently bought a camper for us to camp in, but they are 10 hours away so little weekend trips are out of the question. We have been looking to purchase our own camper with no luck yet. My parents are a little aggravated at our looking for own camper:confused3 so I can't discuss this with them. (I know that sounds insane, but they are afraid if we get our own camper we will never go campng in theirs with them again.)
So now the story. I spoke to a local man about coming to look at his hybrid earlier in the week, but it was at a relative's house about an hour from me. I was willing to look at it wherever it was, but he insisted on me waiting until this morning because he was bringing it to his house about 20 minutes away. I talked to him last night and he was suppose to call me this morning. Well at 10:00 I'm thinking okay we are approaching afternoon, so I call him. He tells me that someone showed up early this morning with a deposit and will pay the rest Wednesday. He saw no need in calling me since he had already sold the camper. I wanted to ask him if this person had been speaking to him all week like I had or did they literally just show up?
I know all things happen for a reason and this may be turn out to be a blessing, but I had my hopes up. I think I'll go bake me some chocolate chip cookies now.:rotfl:

Meet with the audiologist (sorry spelling?) again on Monday for prices..and options. I will ask about that. I hate that we spend all this money on insurance and there is nothing even given toward the hearing aide. Ridiculous. I guess people are just supposed to be deaf and have their tv's blast. It's to the point where I've noticed she is shutting down. She's not socializing even with family because she isn't hearing what people say. That sort of thing. It's not an option to do without. She's got it tough enough already..given the situation with my dad. I mean he can't speak..and she can't hear. Imagine what her days are like. She has issues with depression, and this hearing loss isn't helping matters. So..I've got to move on this hearing aide issue. Trying to get her healthy(ier). Got her into treatment for her rheumatoid arthritis. IV treatments once a month..and it actually seems to be working. :thumbsup2 She hasn't had any flair ups, and she's up and off the couch. I've got to keep her moving and caring about herself. She's kind of given up. She's only 68..but the last 12 years have been very tough on her.

Yep..nothing and we pay nearly a thousand dollars a month for their policy. Sad commentary on health care huh? Oh..and not to forget the $50.00 copay to the doctor.(specialist are more :headache:) Which.. of course she forgot to bring a check with her. They won't even see you without your referral and the copay up front. So..I paid that and took her to lunch afterward. I came home broke..and a little discouraged.
On the upside... it did get her out of the house. :thumbsup2 I even had my younger son come along. She gets a kick out of him. He's pretty good with her. For being 18... he's patient..and doesn't seem to mind repeating himself when she doesn't hear him. It was cute..she gave him her winning lottery scratch offs...for him to "put gas in your car". He's lookin' at me..like should I take this?:confused3
We went to lunch afterwards at IHOP. My sister and her kids met us there. Mom seemed to enjoy getting out and spending some time with the grandkids. We joked..that if any of us wins the Mega Millions lottery this week..we are getting a big van and rounding up all the family members and friends we know that need either hearing aides or eye glasses (another thing insurance doesn't pay for) and really going to town.
Imagine that... you think you're being extravagent by getting hearing aides and eyeglasses. I tell ya,..you don't know whether you should laugh or cry over that one. :rolleyes1
Is what it is I guess. Crazy. Healthcare these days. I don't know what to make of it any more. Oh..and Medicare which is her secondary..doesn't pay a dime toward the hearing aide either.
Oh well....better play the lotto again this week!

It's 12 years old. We learned on the clotheswasher two years ago, that anything over ten years old, it's not worth paying the repairman the $75 to tell us we need a new one!! So we're just going to replace it!!

Healthcare has gotten out of control, and so has insurance, but....... don't think what our administration is proposing will be any better.

No I don't suppose it would be. :headache: Only what we've got now isn't so great either. I thought we had great health care..until we really started needing it to provide services like physical thearpy for my dad. Which they do..but it's on a limited basis..per injury, and only if there is an attainable goal. Take someone like my dad..who is paralyzed on one entire side of his body. He's not going to get that feeling back. That ship has sailed. Yet..he needs to have PT on a regular basis to keep what strength he has on the other side..and to stretch him that sort of thing. NOPE..it's used it all up. :confused3 There are restrictions in these policies...that are in the fine print..that the brokers don't even know/tell you about. You have no idea until something catastrophic happens, and you find out the coverage..isn't as great as you thought. The doctors are very kind ...they do their best to help him get as much thearpy as ins. will pay for. Mostly we pay out of pocket for it. Without it his muscles with atrophy?(sorry spelling). I'd say most people I know are a heartbeat away from being in the same situation. We have been lucky..if you can call it that. So far, we have been able to provide the care he needs through his own financial resources..but I tell you..it's going fast. It's not if..but when it's gonna be gone. I have friends who parents don't have that to fall back on..and they do without...and it's very..very sad. My dad was only 56 when he had his stroke 12 years ago....not retired..not elderly. Hell.. my husband turned 56 two days ago. If this happened to us now..we'd be done.
Don't know what the answer is. :confused3 WHY is it so expensive though..and for the expense WHY aren't we getting the coverage we need?..I'm not asking for something for nothing. :headache:

So sorry this is happening to the people around you Phyllis. My kids are PTs and they tell stories like this. I'm not sure what the solution is either, but it's not what we've got now (insurance almost doubles the cost of healthcare one way or another) and it's probably not what congress is proposing - but there has to be a solution somewhere.........

All I know is that the cost of health care is killing small business' like ours..and then insult to injury..it's turns out to be inadequate. :sad2:
I have to say my son is NYPD..has GREAT coverage through the city ..he picks a private insurance plan based on what he wants taken out of his check...and all his perscriptions are coverd through the PBA. You know..I don't mind paying. Alright..I don't love it..but you know what I mean.:rolleyes1 We pay our fair share and then some. It's just that when you pay through the nose..and then find out when something catastrophic or long term happens..it's really not enough. It's like a kick in the stomach. Kind of makes you sick and feel like WTH is going on?..
Yet....when I was in the ER with Bob prior to his surgery...I can not tell you how many families came in with sick babies with ear aches or sore throats. It was NOT an emergency room. It was where everyone who doesn't have health care goes to be treated instead of taking the kids to the pediatricians office. Now..I don't want to see any child suffer. Only..when is enough....enough? :confused3 None of these folks were English speaking, and it isn't a stretch to figure they were here illegally as well. :sad2:
Crazy..and I'm no expert to be sure..but maybe we could try enforcing our laws regarding immigration? I would think that would have a trickle down effect on health care as well.
I must be getting old..because I remember the days when you just paid your doctor. You know..out of your pocket. I think a visit to the pediatrician was $45.00 and $65.00 if the kid needed a strep culture. There wasn't any insurance company to deal with. Only needed a major medical policy..if you were to need hospital care. Probably dated myself there..but things sure have changed in the last 20-25 years. Okay..off the soap box. :sad2:

One of the major bills right now specifically EXCLUDES illegal aliens from health care coverage. The problem with these people and welfare recipients is that they clog up emergency care facilities because that's where they go for health care - they cannot be refused treatment. This is a huge cost and it would be better to cover them someway else.
Insurance costs are driven to a large extent by unnecessary testing done as a CYA by doctors because of lawsuits - tort reform would go a long way to reduce costs - also reduction of administration costs would clear up a lot of $ - congress won't address that because the health care industry and lawyers lobby heavily - most congressmen are lawyers anyway. Ask doctors about their admin costs to fill out all the paperwork and ridiculous rules they have to live by. None of the real issues will be addressed. NONE AT ALL.

Acute renal failure. Not a good day. Spent yesterday and into the night with my dad at the hospital. We're not even sure what's causing it..his blood pressure is extremely low. Flushing toxins (especially one of his cardiac meds) out of his body..hoping kidneys will start to function again. Even if they wanted to do emergency dialysis..his blood pressure is so low it would probably kill him. When he heard the word dialysis..he gave me the look..and started shaking his head "no". While he has trouble verbally communicating..he can make himself understood, and he does understand what is said around him and to him. He's had enough. I told him that I know..and I won't let it get to that point. His potassium (sorry sp.) has come down since it was at a critical and toxic 6.3..it's now down to 5.8.
Kidney dr. is giving the flushing him with fluid more time. Also..a problem is his previous heart failure. Filling him full of fluids is a problem given they also build up around his heart. So needless to say..things are pretty critical, and they're watching him like a hawk. He's in the CCU..and honestly he's almost a regular there past few years..and they know him. So at least we're comfortable with his care, and the unit he's in.
My dad..he's a bull. I mean, I've actually seen him look much worse. So looking at him..you wouldn't think it was that bad..but I don't have a good feeling. Things can go either way right now..and knowing my dad and the fighter he is..he could be home next week. Then again...I was with him the night he had his stroke. I was the last hand he held and the last eyes he looked into when he lost conciousness. He woke up six weeks later...in a different body and to a very different life.
After he was settled into the CCU I shut the overhead light. He took my hand in his and kissed it ...lightly brushing the side of my face with his hand. He kept motioning for me to go home...as he had been all day. Finally.. I asked him " Dad..would you leave me here?". Tears came into his eyes and he quietly whispered "no". Enough said.

My son is a beautiful free spirit, and I love that. He also doesn't seem to realize the significance of what he says (not unusual for a 7 year old I know). Friday he made a stupid, insensitive remark about one of his classmates. She is African-American, and is one of the cutest and sweetest little girls you'd ever care to meet.
She was in his class in K-garten last year. I helped with a class party, and from that day on she always had a big smile for me whenever she saw me. When DS and I saw her at the YMCA this summer I got a big hug. Now she isn't even talking to him. We landed on him pretty good about this and he drew her a picture of the two of them with an apology. She apparently did thank him for it this morning, but according to DW she gave him a pretty dark look.
Why, of all the things he could have gotten from me, did it have to be his common sense? :confused3

Phyllis-
What you are going thru with your dad right now is really the worst of times. Having been there myself, I know how draining it is both physically and emotionally. While your dad is in such good hands at the CCU, please take the time to care for yourself. You are going to need your strength for him after he is released from the hospital, and you won't be any good to him or yourself if you're worn to a frazzle. As I've told you before...I'm here for you & you have my number. If all you want to do is call me, scream obscenities, cry, and hang up, that's okay...I'm here.
I know you haven't said a thing about your mom, but I'm telling you...do not spread yourself thin between the two of them. Your dad is the priority for the time being.
I'm praying for you and what is best for everyone.
Hugs to you, friend!

Yesterday was bad. While his potassium is getting lower..albeit slowly and they decided to hold off on the emergency dialysis. His mental state...I don't know what the hell happened. He's hallucinating. It was horrible. It could be the toxins in his body. Why does God let these things happen. I know,.. I should have faith..and I do. Phyllis, do they have him on Percocet? My mom had hallucinations after double knee replacement surgery. Nobody realized it was caused by the pain meds. It got to the point that we thought she'd had a stroke. Finally one of the nurses suggested that Percocet can sometimes cause that reaction in older patients (my mom was 69 at the time). Just a thought. I hope things get better quickly. As Deb said, I'm here for you, whatever you need.

No he wasn't on any meds for pain. Actually they wanted to give him some morphine but his blood pressure was so low that they couldn't. It would have killed him. With his kidneys not working, your body isn't filtering out the toxins. At this point the feeling is that it's these toxins in his body that are causing the bouts of dementia?. With his blood pressure increasing from the dopamine?(sorry sp.?)..they did sedate him with some atovan (again..forgive me the spelling). Today he is restrained as well. My sister is at the hospital now..and I'll get there around 1:00..so I should no more at that point. I can only hope today will be better.
My FIL would hallucinate and not know what was going on around him when he would get pneumonia, or even be on the verge of pneumonia. Not getting enough oxygen to the brain would be the cause. Do they have your Dad on oxygen? Funny thing, he was always worse when he was in ICU.

Home early tonight.
Was a better day. While dad seemed uncomfortable and from time to time agitated...he was nothing like yesterday. No hallucinating. Although, he did try to get out of bed and leave. Frankly, I think he knew exactly what he was doing. He just wants OUT. Medically..he's doing better. Blood pressure is staying up..and the kidneys are working. Potassium coming down. They are even starting him back on some of his cardiac meds to keep his heart rate up...which has been low. He's eating and drinking. His doctors are very pleased..and a bit surprised at the turn around. I tell ya..the man's a bull. :sad2: Also...very strange but nice, was when a nurse looked at his wrist band and asked him his name.... he told them exactly who he is. Which of course..he knows who he is. It's just that verbally he can't answer quickly....it's very slow and with great difficulty because he's aphasiac. (damage from his cerebral hemmorage 12 years ago.) Anyway he answered her very matter of factly, and clear enough that the person who asked, didn't appear to be aware he was aphasiac, and went about their business. He gave me a wink, as if to say.."see..she doesn't know".
After I helped him with dinner, I was getting ready to leave. Kissed him good bye and I told him I'd see him in the morning. To my surprise he responded.... "okay..6:30". I told him.."Daddy..I love ya..but not that much...I'll be here around 11:00"

Well, the crud got me!!
I was doing everything right, drinking lots of fluids, taking lots of vitamins, taking the right cold medicines and washing my hands like a germaphobic fool, but after coughing my fool head off all night last night, I broke down and went to the doctor.
Turns out I was "this" close to having bronchitis, so they were pretty aggressive and gave me a breathing treatment right there, two shots in the butt and 3 prescriptions.
Everybody says I should have gone to the doctor sooner, but I really think we over "antibiotic" as it is, and it "was" just a common cold to start with.
What can ya do different??

I agree with you on over-doing the antibiotics. I had strep & pneumonia so much as a kid that eventually penicillin was useless to me. Thank goodness stronger antibiotics were developed.
My doctor always reads me the riot act for not getting in to see him sooner when I come down with an URI - because my thinking is "just one more day...I'll give it one more day." Then it ends up going into pneumonia. I don't usually run a fever - so that's no indicator. Last December when I knew after 3 days my URI was severe - I went in and yep...I had pneumonia in both lungs. I can't tell, cause I'm so cavalier when it comes to my own health. He told me that the moment my pleghm has any discoloration to get my azz in to see him.
Now, here's my expert medical advice: apply Vicks to the soles of your feet, put socks on. Have Rick make a pot of ho-made chicken soup with lots of gahlic - or a spicy gumbo. Mix honey & lemon juice and liberally add bourbon/whiskey of choice. The Vicks and soup will actually help you. The honey & lemon fight infection and the bourbon's soul purpose is to mask how sh!tty you feel!! :lmao:
If you don't feel better the next day, use more bourbon!:thumbsup2

Yes! It actually does work! Do exactly what Debbie told you and go lay down! Seriously, you'll feel a lot better tomorrow. As for the honey thing....you all will laught at me....I was coughing and felt generally puny a few weeks ago. I'm such a goody goody~ I really struggled with this choice...oh the implications of it...what if somebody smells me.:lmao:, but what the heck, a couple tablespoons of honey and whisky can't hurt. :coffee:Okay...this comes under the category of "you can't make this stuff up"..one of those truth being stranger than fiction type things.
As some of you may recall, I have been having some issues with our new neighbors.
At 6:30 am..my husband and my son left for work and school. Being that I had a terrible headache, :headache:I went back upstairs to lie down for a bit. Managed to doze off, only to awaken at 7:30 am to this very loud banging noise coming from outside.. directly under our bedroom window..which had been opened. I was startled and immediately said out loud.."WTH IS THAT!?" It would seem someone was out on my neighbors driveway (which runs right up against our property line)..banging on something. The noise stopped when they heard me. At this point I figured I wasn't going to get any sleep..may as well go downstairs and have some coffee. :coffee:
Anyway, about an hour later, I hear the loud banging noise again. This time coming from the back yard..and my dog is barking. I went to the back door to let the dog in and could see my next door neighbor bashing something on his PVC table. Well, apparently it wasn't doing the trick and he then walked onto his driveway..where it borders with our property. Now my curiousity has been raised..and I've got to know what it is he's doing. I quickly went to my dining room window.:tiptoe: and peeked out to see exactly what it was he was banging (okay wise guys....let's not go there..you know what I mean:rolleyes1)...
Turns out..and I KID YOU NOT...he is trying to smash open a COCONUT..on the belgium block border. Yep..::yes:: you read that correctly. He's smashing open a coconut :sad2: on his driveway. I guess he wanted it for breakfast.:confused3
I'm not sure if this is another one of those cultural differences..or what.:confused3
All I can say is...I'd like to smash some nuts too. pirate:

I need to vent. We got our electric bill a few days ago. It seemed a little high to us. We noticed it was an "estimated" bill, so dh decided to call the electric company and make sure they hadn't made a mistake. The customer service rep had dh go outside to the meter and read the numbers to him. Then he recalculated :teacher: the bill (keep in mind a few days have gone by since we received the bill and at least a few more days since they estimated the amount and mailed the bill). Our new amount to pay is $70 LESS than the estimated amount!!!!!! Dh must have gotten a csr who is fed up with his job because this guy told my dh to always call when you get an estimated bill. He seemed genuinely angry  that people keep getting ripped off this way! So, while I'm really happy that we saved ourselves $70, I'm really angry about all the other estimated bills we've received and never realized they were estimated. Kelly - If you want to get "royal treatment" from your power company in the future (and if it's not owned by the city or county) call your state's utility commission and file a formal complaint. Utility companies hate PUC complaints!! It gives them a black eye the next time they ask for a rate increase. And yes....always call when you see "estimated" and then call your PUC. Unless your meter is inaccessable due to a fenced, locked yard, or being in the garage/inside the house, or you have a fenced yard with a loose dog in the yard, there is no excuse for them not to read your meter. Their meter reader was just lazy that day.
Glad you got the best of them. :yay:

Check with the utility company, many have gone to reading meters only every other month to save money. Yes, the estimation may have been high but you did not overpay in the long run, the overage would be caught with the actual reading the next month and your bill will be smaller.
Say at your Sept actual reading the meter read 100, they estimate your use at 20 for Oct so you pay for 20 but you only used 15 so if you read your meter it would say 115 in Oct but they "guessed" 120. In Nov you use 15 again so your meter will read 130. If in Nov the company does an actual reading and sees it at 130 you will only be charged for actual usage, the 10 units for which you have not paid.
This is quite common around here - it all works out in the end.

A man in our town was convicted of rape in 1974 when he was 19 years old. After several appeals were turned down, a judge finally allowed for DNA testing to be conducted. Guess what?? The man was innocent, yet spent the last 35 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit. The only real condemning evidence against him in 1974 was the woman claimed she was raped by a black kid - and this kid happened to be out on the streets near the crime scene shortly after the rape was reported.
I'm very angry FOR this man!!

That's how it works on ours, when ours is estimated, they actually read it the next month and apply the proper amount.
We actually pay the same amount each month on "budget billing" then it all is adjusted once a year with a credit to me or extra payment.

Wasnt exactly sure where to put this.
Emergency Weather Bulletin
This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan after a severe snow storm ...
The Mining Journal,Marquette, MI
WEATHER BULLETIN
Up here in the Northern part of Michigan we just recovered from a Historic event --- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.
FYI:
Obama did not come.
FEMA did nothing.
No one howled for the government.
No one blamed the government.
No one even uttered an expletive on TV.
Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.
Our Mayors did not blame Obama or anyone else.
Our Governor did not blame Obama or anyone else either.
CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC did not visit - or even report on this category 5snow storm.
Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.
No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.
No one looted.
Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.
Nobody expected the government to do anything either.
No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera.
No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand,
No Brad Pitts, No Hollywood types to be found.
Nope, we just melted the snow for water.
Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.
The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny.
Local restaurants made food, and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snow bound families..
Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.
We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.
We put on an extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die".
We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks.
Even though a Category 5 blizzard of this scale is not usual, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.
I hope this gets passed on.
Maybe .....
SOME people will get the message ......
The world does Not owe you a living.

I thought this was the angry thread. Where's the bitterness...the hostility...the resentmentf? :confused3
Camping folks are so great that an angry thread doesn't stand a chance. :goodvibes
No anger here! I've used it all up over the crazy summer I had!! Smooooooth sailing! :hippie:

That's what I was thinking!! I'm torn this year between Alice and Snow White. :confused3
The one I have is $35 on overstock.com right now. It's the 2 piece Alice from Leg Avenue:

Snow White would be really cute too! I'm thinking about the Queen of Hearts this year for the annual party that we attend & DH might use the same Madd Hatter costume from before.

If that post was referring to my pp...you are absolutely right. They do need to die.:thumbsup2
I regretted referring to them almost immediately and tried to get back to delete before anyone saw them. I was only trying to point out the strange happenings lately not give life to those threads. My apologies. Consider them "most sincerely dead". ;)
Well....except for the bubbles. That one still gives me too many laughs.

ICE !!
It is amazing how a few patchy areas of ice on the roads can paralize an area and it is not really that bad. The worst part was breaking the ice shell to get my car door open.
All schools closed, most employers have closed, most churches closed yesterday or cut back on their worship services. I had employees call me wanting to know if we were closed and I told them I was at work already.

Me too! I think that all southerners need to spend a mandatory week in the great white north on a yearly basis so that they can see what winter is really like. ;)
Did that last year, went back to Pa. for a week in March, won't do that again.

I'll trade you my New England winter for your Tennessee winter any time. We are on our second 15" snow storm in less than two weeks. Someday I'm moving to Florida & I'm going to drive the boats around bay lake.
The actual snow doesn't bother me per se, nor does the cold. It's the dreariness (grey skies and dead foliage) that I can't stand and unfortunately that usually accompanies snow and cold. I have great respect for all of you who live further north and have it way worse than what we're having right now and for much longer. Forgive us wimpy southerners.:cutie:

No! Please!! I would be suicidal!!!
Seriously, I am trying to count my blessings, realizing it could be much worse. We do have electricity, our water is running, we have plenty of food, we've drunk 2 gallons worth of hot chocolate in a week, DH does have a 4x4 so we have been able to get out when needed.

Ok... We won't make you spend a week up north. I'm planning on moving south myself, and I wouldn't want to put myself through that either. ;)
Thank you sooo much!
The snow, ice, grey skies, dead folliage, shoveling, salting, everyone freaking out thinking they will relive the blizzard of 78, & freezing my butt off is what hate about winter. I just spent 3.5 hours outside clearing 21" of snow today & I'm still not finished. So I'm with you & wish I was in the south some where, anywhere. We will be moving someday but probably not for 10yrs or so, oh I can dream. Someday I will live within an afternoons drive of the fort. You are not wimpy. You are brilliant in my book.
21" and you're still not finished?!?!:faint: I'm not too brilliant. I lived 2 and a half hours north of the Fort and then moved 10 hours away. I'll blame that on ignorance...I was just 20 at the time.;) Seriously, I LOVE TN. My family still lives in FL so I can visit anytime.:thumbsup2
