I am not in So. Cal- I hope everyone is okay, but it was a 5.4 (which for California is not very strong, not likely to do much damage)- So I am under the assumption that everyone is fine- but I am sure it was a little unexpected surprise/scare! I'll have to check the news to catch up.

Everyone is my area is fine-no damage. And there was a side benefit: now my high school students will take evacuation drills more seriously!

On the DL thread people have been checking in and are fine. They are still checking the rides at DL per reports. All local news reports (we are in Northern CA) say that there is minimal damage.

I talked to my DIL who lives in Riverside near the epicenter and she said it was the strongest one she had felt (she's lived there 3 years), but all is well and nothing even fell off shelves at their house.

I've been here for over 8 years and that was only the second one that I have truly felt! We were sitting in a Burbank bakery/cafe (about 3 miles from the Disney Studios) for an early lunch and watched all the tables shimmy for a couple minutes. Some college age kids panicked and ran out of the restaurant - never to come back. BTW, That's one thing you are never supposed to do is run.

When I got home, nothing had fallen off the shelves. We didn't feel the aftershocks, but my husband heard on the news that they felt it all the way across the desert to Vegas.

Nothing seems to have changed our here in the San Fernando Valley.

I forgot to mention that I am heading to Disneyland today, so I can give an update tonight on how things are going there and what is still shut down.

It has been a long time since we have had a moderate or greater earthquake here (1994). I was so suprised by it that I did not have time to be freightened. It is funny how people are afriad of living in California because of Earthquakes. The big ones are few and far between, and even then, unless you are within a few miles of the epicenter, you will have minimal to no damage. (I have lived in the Los Angeles area for 38 years, and we have yet to have anything even fall off a shelf in our home).

It's all hype and perception.

It's the same for Tornadoes. There are many people who have lived all there lives in Oklahoma, and have never even seen one.

Made through ok! I agree with Melissa..my high school students sure took getting under their desks for seriously when it hit! We went to the field and then given the all clear! Went home after work..one picture fell off the wall! Lucky! I live near Long Beach..felt it pretty good!
