Okay, I had a lot of fun with this one, as you can see :)
I played with folding paper (a new technique for me) and tried to make it look more "real" papers and such instead of photoshop made (that was my attempt, anyhow!)

I got the images off google and adjusted them to fit the needs of my page and made everything I needed this time!
Fun fun fun!!!

http://www.sleepingbean.com/challenge16.jpg
Thanks for hosting!
I did change the layout a bit, by putting my images horizontal, but I kept with the overall theme with title, journalling, images and image clips :)

SleepingBean, we need to talk more about your Mexico paper. It came out really great! Did you find clipart and then change it around? Details, please!

SleepingBean, ... Did you find clipart and then change it around? Details, please!

I started with this image from online
http://latinbaby.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/tc10.jpg
(great image!). I did several filters and adjusted lighting, plus added a layer to make a fold look, although I don't think it worked great on this image.
I can't remember what all I did to it, but I think I ran a film grain, did a gradient, some shadows, some contrast...you get the idea ;)

Very cool. I was thinking about doing a template challenge at some point. Great minds think alike! ;) Great looking template. Will have to get started on this when I get home from work. Will give me some time to think about what I want to do. So many stories, so little space! ;) :lmao:

Sleepingbean - It's in WDW...right there as big as life!! I didn't realize it was there until I saw a pic of it on a DIS photo thread. So, I went looking for it the last time we were there. All of these fun things to find!!

Also, I need to edit the text in my LO. It should be The Brave Little Tailor...forgot the "brave". That's what happens when you scrap late at night!!

sleepingbean

My dd loves the Brave Little Tailor, and she would get such a kick out of that!!!

Okay, I obviously need more clues...where is it, exactly?
My dd loves the Brave Little Tailor, and she would get such a kick out of that!!!

It is in the Sir Mickey's shop in Fantasyland. If you are standing by the carrousel, looking at the castle, it is the shop on your left (across from Tinkerbell's Treasures). Go in the shop and look up toward the ceiling and you will see him. I hadn't seen this either, until I heard about it here on the DIS, so I went in there on my last trip and saw the giant, too!

08-01-2008, 01:57 PM
we have never even been in the shop! We have been in Tink's shop, of course (the start of the polly pocket sized disney doll collection)
Okay, now I know where to look!
I love these pages. I learn more about the "world" and about scrappin' every time I log in!

sleepingbean-Oh, this is so fun & so different!!

loveGoofy-Love how fun and happy this LO is! Love how you did the title, and the paper on an angle under the pics.

ngneer98-So pretty (and pink, and I love pink, too!) Love how you used the pic in the background, too. Really cute!

Pooh46-Ooh, I love this! I love the acrylic mickey head with the bead circle & burst and mickey brad in the middle. It looks like one element, so cool! And, see why I love this board? I learn something new about Disney all the time! I have never been in that store (or Tink's, bad me!), and now I have to go in there just to see that!

Yzer-I've already said this, but I LOVE that LO! Everything about it is so perfect. I love how you used one pic for the picture part. This is one of my fav LOs of yours, great job!

sleepingbean- I love the background! You did a great job with this one!

loveGoofy- CUTE!!! My Girls love Playhouse Disney and you really captured the feel of the show.

ngneer98- Fun LO! The picture is a perfect background and I love the layered element around, under, on top of your pics :) I also realized that I "need" that Britt Kit!

Pooh46-This is a great LO! I love the Sir Mickey extraction and the acrylic Mickey icon.

Yzerbear19 - I really love the way you used one pic- very clever!! I know that you defeated Captain Hook with both of your swords!

Thanks DisneyBaby -- SBC+ is the only software I own ... no other programs. I'm really liking Britt's paper shapers.... that's what I used for the dots, bracket journaling box and frame around the page.... They are so easy to use in SBC+. I have started looking for other elements that make cute paper shapers in kits that I already have (interesting mats, edges, etc)... I turn them to a neurtral color in SBC+, then save them as a .png in a "shapers" file... so I am accumlating a file of shapers..... I think I like the look of them because they remind me of traditional paper scrapping (diecuts) when they are on the page.

Our family and two other families went to Disney World together in 2006. Since we couldn't agree on a common route, someone decided we should have a race to Tallahassee, which is about half way to WDW for us. We all pass through that city, so we decided to race to the Cracker Barrel right off the interstate. The first family to get to the Cracker Barrel would win, but you could get points for taking pictures of different things like VW bugs, bathroom doors, Alaska or Hawaii license plates, and strangers wearing mouse ears. The race was a lot more fun than we had planned, especially since it was so close for the last two hours with us and one of the families. The missed turn at the end really cost them and allowed us to win.

Thanks for the inspiring template that helped me document this adventure for my scrapbook!

Sleeping Bean, Bernie Ann and Disney Baby, thank you for the comments....

Sleeping bean - the race was a lot of fun, I couldn't remember the real name of the race until today....when you go on the disney cruise it was the Mickey 500. It was really cute, we had a good time.

Bernie Ann - Thank you for hosting this weeks challenge, I really enjoyed using the template. I will be hunting out and using more templates for digi scrapping in the future.

Disney Baby - it is funny how the name stuck, we still name things the "strawberry nightmare" and chuckle a little from where it came from. I also wanted to let you know I really enjoyed your layout, not having a daughter we never get to meet the princesses, and I too have wondered if she had "glass" at least clear slippers on.

The funny thing is when I was kid I always wanted to be a Librarian. It's a dream I lost hold of at some point. I just never figured out where Librarian school was I guess! Thanks for reminding me of that. If you don't mind me asking where is Librarian school, or how does one become a Librarian.

Yes, there are still Librarian Schools out there! I think there are about 60 colleges/universities in the US that have programs that are accredited with the ALA (American Library Association). That's fewer than there used to be, but it's still a pretty popular field. There are even some online now. You need to have an MLS (Master in Library Sciences) to be a Librarian. These days, however, the program of study has changed its name to Library and Information Science because of the amount of technology involved now. Even with all the info online now, the libraries around here are still very, very popular. Our town has a main library and 2 branches and they're building a 3rd. Before I retired, the children's summer reading program would routinely have about 7,000 kids registered and our outdoor storytimes would have 300-400 attend (parents and kids). It was a fun job and believe me, when you're working in the children's dept., you don't just get to sit around and read and shush people!!

Interesting side note to keep this on topic, this is where I first started scrapbooking since we had to submit a scrapbook about our summer reading program each summer for a state contest. I was the one who would do the scrapbook and I'd win every year!! So, I started scrapbooking about 20 years ago before any scrap stores existed so I was cutting out each element by hand. The library didn't even have an Ellison then. Ah, how far we've come!!

I've been wanting to get involved in these challenges for a while now but just have not had the time to do any scrapping. Anyway, here's mine:

Hi!

Are there any directions as to how to get your page posted? I did mine in Storybook Creator Plus and I can't figure out how to get it from there to here. I've tried a few things, but with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi -- This is what I do... There are probably other ways, but it works for me and gets the page about the right size for the post. In SBC+ w/ page open go to HOME - SAVE - SAVE PAGES AS. Where is says "Start File Name With", put in a name for your page there. Click the button thay says "1 selected page" (otherwise you will save every page if you are working in a StoryBook). Then click Save ... this will save it in whatever folder you chose outside of SBC+. Then, to get it the right size, I usually go to the file outside SBC+, right click on the jpeg file, and click "Open with" - "Paint" - "Image" -- "Resize/Reskew" and resize horizontal and vertical to about 20% and save. (Otherwise the page will be much too big to share on the web.) Now you have to upload it to a photo storage place like Photobucket or Smugmug. They are free... I use Photobucket. Once you open your account, you just follow the prompts to click on your file to upload it. Once you have done that, there is an "IMG" code fo your page. You click on it and copy and paste it right into your post and your page will come up. It sounds way more complicated than it is. Once you have done it a couple times, it all takes about 2 minutes. Hope this helps. :goodvibes

Thanks so much!!! :worship: I would never have figured it out by myself! I couldn't resize it the way you said, but was able to do it through the "save pages as" screen, choosing the "screen" option.

So, here it is!

http://QuiltyMom.smugmug.com/photos/346401128_x4Q9t-L.jpg

I used Creative Memories Primary Digital Power Palette for most of the design, and the Primary Zoo PP Additions for the green mat and the "wild thing" stamp.

The fonts are Chinese Takeaway and Font Shui, both downloaded from the 1001freefonts.com site. The clips and brads I borrowed from other CM themes (I believe Great Escapes?).

I used the Magic Wand tool to get Mushu's autograph from the photopass photos we ordered from the trip. I think that's it! I'll be happy to answer any "how-to" questions.

It looks perfect!! I love it. And what great photos.... and I think your way of resizing is easier than mine.... so I'll start doing it that way too! LOL!

I am wondering how you got the white edge around the autograph using SBC+.... that gives it sort of a "sticker" look -- which is really fun!

I wish I could say how I did it, but the white edge comes with all of the "autographs" that you place on the photos when you order the PhotoPass CD. Wouldn't it be nice if adding a white border like that was an option?

This was a great template and gave me the perfect layout style to use in my book for my blog write ups of our trip. Basically, when we were on our trip, I blogged about each day's activities. I want to put those write ups in the book, so this is what I came up with. I am experimenting with color coding words to set off parks, rides/shows, eating, and characters. I made the titles for use on each of the pages in separate files so I can open them and put them in each of these pages as I go easily.

I titled my blog entry for that day, by the way, The Rainforest because of the storm that we experienced at AK and the location of dinner that night in Downtown Disney.

This was a challenging layout because all of the photos needed tweaking. As you can imagine (and the picture still isn't good) the photo from the Lion King Show really needed work. I basically didn't know I had anything captured until tweaking it. It was like an elephant appeared from the dark!

The one of the kids and Steve in the gift shop was over lit in the front and Steve was fading into the background, so that took a couple different sort of fixes. Maury's face...well, I can't fix that look...but it kind of shows the frustration of an 7 year old being stuck in a stupid store instead of being outside playing.

Everything is from Jennifer Trippetti's Jungle Love except the date strip is Britt's Got-A-Date: Strips

Since I already have this kit (it is absolutely gorgeous BTW!!!), I would like give it to someone else. Let me look through all the entries and pick someone. I'll post who I choose a bit later after I review all the entries. ;) :)

Again, since I already have this kit I would like to give my prize to another contestant. I put the names of my top 5 in my laptop bag and drew out a name. The lucky person was: QUILTYMOM. The photos you used were so cute. Absolutely hilarious!

Bernie-Ann,
Can you please sent my prize to Quiltymom. :) Thank you. :)

Melissa,

Thank you. How sweet of you! :grouphug: And thank you for the comments on the photos. The PhotoPass photographer was having a blast taking shots - he must've taken about 12, and along with the ones I took the event was well documented. And I admit that if it wasn't for this challenge, I wouldn't have done anything special with them - I had just included them in a collage with other China pics.

And on another note, since I will most likely be participating in these challenges, could someone please let me know how I could get involved in hosting? Since I'm a newbie I'll most likely want to wait a couple of weeks to see how things go, but I don't want to skip out on my duties as a player. Plus, it will keep me motivated to try something new and break out of my scrapping rut that I seem to be in these days. Thanks!

The layouts this week were FABULOUS! It never ceases to amaze me at the the talent in our group. I'm so glad we're doing this. :cheer2:

So far, I've been able to participate in every challenge. Thanks so much for helping me get my scrapbook done! You all are the best!

Ladies, I am not sure if there are "rules" per say with these set ups, but I will go into withdrawal without a week 17 scrap challenge! I would be happy to host if not stepping on anyones toes?! Or if someone is in the loop of deciding how these things get hosted and wants to post to let us know ... I'm sure I'm not the only one anxious for week 17 :cutie:

Sleepingbean,

I say go for it!!! :) Though maybe make it just a mini challenge so that it ends on Tuesday so we can still use the schedule we had been doing.

And to help alleviate some of the confusion and to keep track of everything, I posted a sign up thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=26782268#post26782268

So if you want to host, sign up there. :) I have Sleepingbean down for #17 and Terri for #18.

I wouldn't mind hosting sometime, but being new to this, what would I need to do in order to host? Thanks...

Congrats to the winners! Awesome job everyone! I can't wait to try the new challenge. I will sign up to host a challenge soon also. With my DD being a senior and the head drum major, we will be overloaded during football season. I will need to check the calendar and sign up on the other thread.
