We're using points for myself and husband, and paying cash for our 5 year old son for a 7 night Disney Cruise. We normally pay cash for cruises and then obtain our own travel insurance. How does this work if using points? Do we have to go through the Disney Vacation Club insurance or can we use our own travel insurance using what the trip would have cost if we paid all cash? And how does it work if we are using both points and cash?
Thanks!!

Travel Guard is the only insurance company that will insure DVC points for a trip. The brochure will be enclosed with your DVC reservation confirmation. Unfortunately, they only cover $5 per point, however.
I have purchased medical travel insurance for the cruise separately through AAA. There is also airline coverage and luggage coverage available.

Thanks! What about coverage for my son because we paid cash for him?

Travel Guard should be able to quote a price for him as well :)
