“Chicken & Waffles”
Southern Fried Cornish Game Hen Served with Roasted Garlic & Scallion Waffle
Accompanied by Porcini Mushroom Sabayon
$16

I was searching a local hotel's menu pages when I came across this. The first thing that popped into my brain was Kevin! I just have to say that I have never noticed or heard of 'chicken and waffles' served in restaurants. It's all new to me....and I'm a southerner. This can be found at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, NC. It's a new, AAA 5-Diamond hotel. Check out that price tag. (This was taken from the LUNCH menu.) Them there be some fancy waffles! Yeseree. Here's a link to the lunch menu....

Okay - those sound really good....

That basic combination is very much a Los Angeles/Hollywood Soul Food tradition. If done right, the combination can be very good. If done wrong, well....

Phoenix has an excellent place for them - can't remember the name though. We have Roscoe's here in Los Angeles - the most famous name in Chicken and Waffles. The one nearest to us, here in the Valley, just happens to be Snoop Dogg's favorite hang out. One of the most amusing instances of a celeb reality show was the episode of Snoop's show where he takes David Beckham to Roscoe's - when he is supposed to be converting to a heart conscious diet....
