Who thinks Disney should bring back Captain Eo?! :3dglasses

HISTA is getting old. Since retro is coming back, I really think Disney should bring back Mr. Jackson. It really was a great attraction. Plus it's Lucas and Coppola!

With fun 3D effects, an awesome cast of characters and great music...I think it would make a out of this world addition to the revamp of the pavilion.

Anyone else think so?

Sorry, but no. I think Disney should stay (and probably wants to stay) as far away from MJ as possible. And I can't imagine that this would be a popular substitute for HISTA.

My childhood is pretty much summed up by two things: the Main Street Electrical Parade and Captain E/O :worship:
With the rumors of MSEP heading back to Disneyland (from California Adventure) next year, I would love love love love love to see the retro-ness continue with bringing back my favorite 3D film ever :lovestruc

I understand this scenerio is HIGHLY unlikely... but a guy can dream, can't he?

Can't see Captain Eo coming back anytime soon. Better to do something entirely new for a 3D attraction.

OTOH, instead of something entirely new for Figment, how about bringing back the beginning of the original attraction with Dreamfinder and then segue into the better parts of the current version.

I think the only thing disney better touch with this revamp is add back in Dream Finder, and restore it to its original glory.
If they do anything else, i know people will be really mad. I would even have half a mind to take my Figment puppet and do his voice in front of the building, begging people for a home lol

As someone who never saw Michael Jackson in his finest at WDW, I can definitely say that if they brought him back, I would not go and see the show. Maybe if they DID bring him back, they could do 3D and the glasses could be attached to veils.

Due to a 20 year gap in Epcot attendence (my first visit was in 1984, second in 2004):guilty: , I never saw Capt. EO. I really don't care to- IMO, MJ is creepy and I can't imagine Disney would want to be associated with him.

Now, bring back Magic Journeys and I'm there. I still remember that trippy music- "Magic Jooooooouuuuuurneys..."

OHHH I didn't even know they were re-vamping this pavillion! This is GREAT news! I am another one for NOT bring MJ back. While I did like Captain EO when I was a kid, times have changed quite a bit and I would think the general public would not take their kids in to see anything MJ has his name on. Here's to hoping they bring back Dreamfinder - my most fondest childhood memory of Disney :goodvibes

If they could bring back the Dreamfinder walk around, with Figment, that would be amazing. If Dreamfinder came back to the ride, that would be amazing. Restore it to the original glory disney, don't ruin it again.

Catycatcat4,

Captain EO was a 3D film that was in Imagination Pavillion back in the late 80's early 90's. It was in also shown in some of the various Disneylands around the world. Michael Jackson starred and it was directed by Francis For Coppola. From what I can remember it was a crew of weird aliens who had to deliver a present to an evil queen, Michael Jackson sings, then there was a battle scene and then he escaped. I enjoyed it I wish I could remember more of the story.

Michael Jackson???? Ew. No thank you. This would definitely be a WDW all-time low. I like the idea of bringing back the Dreamfinder though.

The redux of Captain EO, instead of emptying into a gift shop, would empty into a kitchen with Chris Hansen.

My very first trip to WDW involved a visit with Captain EO, so I think it would be a blast to have at least a nod to it in whatever new they put in!

While I would love to see the original Dreamfinder version of the Imagination ride, I don't think that's possible, unless they re-construct those turntables they ripped out when they revamped it the first time around.

Fun fact! Most of the original ride is now the Image Works, and Gift Shop. Image Works was on floor 2, (its still there, albit dormant), and what we now know as Mouse Gears was the " figment gift shop". Would Disney really get rid of a gift Shop? Also, the original ride was the most expensive of its type in the world

Also, when the destroyed the original ride, they sold on of the Dreamcatcher blimps, complete with the audio animatronics, and one of them is in Mouse Gear, as a tribute. I can post a pic if you want.

But ill admit, im growing attached to the new ride. I would love to see the original back, but what if they screw it up again? Will they just keep trying?
