We will be driving to WDW from CT and plan on getting there close to 10 p.m on a Saturday night. Can you recommend a cheap off site hotel that is close to WDW that we can stay in for one night before we check into OKW on Sunday. There are 5 adults- if you know of a hotel that sleeps 5- that would be great- we only need it to sleep & shower. Thanks.

Click on the DIS Home at the top of the boards. You will find a resort finder/hotel finder thingy on the right hand side of the front page. Enter your dates and select your hotel (economy or I forget what it's called).

I tried this and came up with a few- Holiday Inn, etc... But I didn't know if any were "a little nicer" than the others. We would spend $100 if it would sleep all 5 of us, less if we have to get 2 rooms since we are only using it for sleeping.

Try orlandodiscountrooms I got Hampton Inn right by the airport for $49 (incl tax) for our first night in October. They have others and other locations....other prices too.

JennyMouse- Thanks for the site.
Were you able to book for only one night? Their pull down menu is set at 3 nights and when I tried 1 night, I got nothing available for every hotel they have listed.

Keep looking around. We are going down this weekend and since the great Disney rates start on Sunday, we are staying at the Holiday Inn Maingate East (close to Disney) for $29.95!!!
I've called about 4-5 times to confirm because I still can't believe it. I got it through some saver site. Sorry I can't remember which one!

We have stayed at the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista.
It was a really cheap rate with AAA.
Close to the grocery store , and resturants.. and downtown disney..

You'd probably want 2 rooms with 5 adults, but I'm sure you can get 2 rooms for under $100. When are you going?
on the Orlando discount rooms page are you having trouble setting the pull down menu to 1 night? Or when you set it to 1 night do you just get nothing available? I was able to get it to show 1 night at the hampton inn south of universal for a saturday in July. Rate was $49 + tax.
Edited because you got moved to the Orlando board!

You can also get great discount rates from DreamsRes (http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/dreamsres/index.htm) The travel company that sponsers these boards.....

Gillian- I can set it to 1 night, but it comes up nothing available- We would need it for May 18. So I see from your post that it is possible- but I guess not for May 18- oh well. I was just trying to get some ideas of hotels near disney since we have only stayed on site and don't know the quality/proximity of these off site ones. I will try the DIS's travel company- they looked to have some good rates.

I hope that Dreamres works well for you! If you still can't find anything & really aren't picky, you could try Priceline. You should be able to get a 2 1/2 or 3* room within a 20 minute drive of OKW for $30-35 plus tax and the $5.95 priceline fee (which I believe is per room now). Do the request for both rooms at the same time. PM me if you want more info on that.
For one night, just about anything would be fine. It will make you appreciate your resort even more!
There are a few threads on hotels to avoid. You might want to read those :)

I didn't even know this board existed until my post got moved here, so now I have been reading about what to avoid, I think I have it down to Ho Jo's ($30) or Holiday Inn ($50), both Maingate East, they both seem to be rated ok by the knowledgable off siters on this board. Thanks to all those who have helped me.

I would not do priceline unless you know what you are doing! I have had much success but only bidding for 4 star hotel in wdw area only, otherwise you don't know what youll get! Stay away from Hampton Inn near Universal studios...

GrumpyEd, which hampton is that? Do you know the address? I think there are 2 around there. What was bad about it? I've heard decent reviews of one of them (or maybe both).
Thanks!
