Hi Everyone!

I finally finished my trip report took me pert near a whole year...finished just in time for our trip in August! :cool1:

I figured that a Pre-Trip report would help me stay organized as the countdown for Disney Safari 2008 begins! AND I can keep in touch with my fellow Disney addicts. YAY addiction loves company!!!

I am going to do my utmost to reign in my tendency to be...wordy...long-winded...chatty...if you will.

*ahem*

I suppose I should start off with introductions for those who may have stumbled unsuspectingly upon this trip report!

We are the CampbellScots...

Jay-The Dad--Type A, workaholic...allows his crazy wife to indulge her Disney addiction. Jay loves Disney too...but in subtle, manly sort of way...he's more apt to give Mickey a hearty handshake and a slap on the back as opposed to a hug...

:rotfl2:

that was a funny visual...

Sally-(9)The Rules oriented, High School Musical loving Big Sister. She's a beautiful girl, with a big heart. She is currently head over heels crushing on Zac Efron...this girl has got the BUG!

Teddy-(6)The energetic dynamo that keeps everyone laughing...except his sister who continues to find him extremely irritating most of the time. Teddy is very into Pirates...and Legos...and Lincoln Logs...anything he can build with. He's got a mind like his daddy!

lastly...

Me--MissCammie as I've come to be known by one and all. (The kids called MissCammie from day ONE. Jay and I never insisted they do so...actually tried to get them to stop it...but that's my name to them. It works for us. So MissCammie it is.)

i am the Wicked Step mother.

It's what I do.

I'm just wicked.

I am.

seriously.

and bossy.

very bossy.

I'm Southern born and raised...with Irish undertones! :shamrock: This means I've got a bit of a temper and I'm generally over emotional. I'm an obsessive planner and list maker. I LOVE me some Donald Duck. Donald is my Disney alter ego...hands down. Donald Duck and I are ONE! I am heavily addicted to Diet Coke and I have a *thing* about manners. I want my family to have them and I get annoyed if they don't. I am more than aware that the world at large will not have the manners I think they should. I deal with it as best I can...just so long as someone else's lack of manners does not intrude upon the ears and space of my family...who's ears and space I am in charge of.

so if you are cussing a blue streak or smoking in my face and I can't move my family away from you, be forewarned...I'll slap you around with an eyebrow arch and tell you to knock it off.

:flower3:

I'm charming that way.

or annoying...

depending upon who you talk to.

*ahem*

ANYHOW...

on to the trip!!!

Stats:

Length of Stay: Ten days at Disney World!!!:cool1:

Accommodations: Animal Kingdom Lodge

Dining:

Chef Mickey's
Akershus--Princess Breakfast
Boma (3x!) (I sure hope we like it...it's in our resort so it's convenient!)
Sci-Fi Dine In Theater
Spoodles
Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch
1900 Park Fare (Cinderella's Gala Feast!)

We've already eaten at Chef Mickey's and Sci-Fi. We all loved Chef Mickey's as our "Welcome back to Disney", first day of vacation so get your motor runnin Dinner. :thumbsup2 As we are doing Chef Mickey's for the second time as our first meal it is *officially* a TRADITION for the CampbellScots.

If we ever do anything more than once at one location it becomes a tradition. Like Sally getting me a diet Coke from the first Diet Coke refrigerator she sees when we go to WallyWorld. I don't even have to ask her.

It's a tradition.

see how that works?

handy things are traditions...

;)

no really, we love that sort of thing. We all do. It says "Family" to us. It makes everyday things feel special and important. And we are all about trying keep a hold of those special and important moments!

Like Diet Coke finding.

*ahem*

where were we? Oh yes...the food...

The other place we've done once before is Sci-Fi. This was actually a request from Jay. He REALLY enjoyed the whole experience. The food is really good and you just can't beat the atmosphere!

Everything else will be new to us. I have ADR's for Boma three different times. Twice for breakfast and once for dinner. Mostly b/c it's convenient. As we are staying at AKL, we are a bit farther out than we are used to. I get nervous about being "on time" for things. I figured if we had breakfast ADR's for Boma I wouldn't start the day freaking out about being late and getting everybody up at the crack of dawn! I checked out the menu before I did this, of course, b/c I have one of the most anxious, finicky eaters on the PLANET in Sally. It appears that while Boma has exotic African food...it also has things like scrambled eggs and Mickey waffles and melon for breakfast and chicken strips and mac and cheese for dinner. As long as Sally can identify food she knows and loves, she'll be fine!

The princess breakfast was exclusively for Sally. We just didn't get a lot of Princess time last summer. Of course as we get closer to our trip I see that Sally has pert near grown out of the Princess thing. She is maturing so quickly.

She asked me yesterday if there was a High School Musical breakfast...

:cheer2:

can y'all imagine?!:lmao:

I told her she'd be enjoying High School themed meals before she knew it so could she please just stay NINE...at least for now? She said she'd try.

She'll enjoy the Princess Breakfast though. I know she will. That Disney magic will have worked its way into her system and she'll be able to enjoy those things she loved so much as a little bitty girl.

We're all looking forward to "Cindy's Gala Feast" at 1900 Park Fare!! Sally and I LOVE the Step Sisters and Lady Tremaine!

I've heard good things about Spoodles. Mostly I wanted to eat there b/c it's on the the Boardwalk and I haven't been to the Boardwalk before! I'm looking forward to this one!!

I'm sure Ohana will be fun! We had all really enjoyed breakfast at the Kona Cafe last summer...so I was pretty sure Ohana would be enjoyed as well...especially since we'll be seeing Lilo and Stitch along with Hawaiian shirt Mickey and pals!! Both the kids know that MissCammie is ALL ABOUT Ohana...as a concept. I love the movie and I can't listen to the Hawaiian Roller Coast ride song without tears. I do NOT know why this song does this to me, but it does.

Every. Single. Time.

:confused3

Hopefully we'll have some time to explore the Poly as well!! It's on the LIST of things to do!

Okay...so those are the stats.

With 26 days to go:cool1: I have to start getting my packing lists done. I need to go through the kids clothes and figure out (generally...not set in stone) which outfits for which days. I don't know about anyone else, but we usually do AT LEAST two outfits a day. Everyone just gets so sweaty...and ick...who likes to walk around in sweaty clothes?!

NOT ME!

Last year we were all about the Commando park touring. We were up at the crack and didn't return until the parks closed.

THIS year we intend to be a little more mellow. We'll try to take pool breaks mid day...actually relax a little. The concept of relaxing will be a new one for us...particularly Jay and me, but we're going to give it a shot!!

UP NEXT: The lists!! And more obsessive compulsive planning activities!!

:confused3

Me too! The kids always ask me why I cry when I hear this song. The bad thing is, I play it in the car alot, so I tell them "laughter through tears is one of my favorite emotions"!

I think it makes me smile & cry b/c I think of the part of the movie where the song is played and the two sisters are together and Stitch starts learning what it is to be a family at that point.

no. I. do. not.

at all.

By pool breaks I mean JAY and the kids will be getting while MissCammie does not.

I will supervise.

Ask Steph. There needs to be a supervisor...unless there happens to be a vortex of death in your resort pool...in that case you may be getting in clothes and all.

luckily...no vortex of death at AKL!

I love your title !! I'm CDO myself, you know OCD but with the letters in the proper alphabetical order as they should be:rolleyes1
Can't wait to hear what Teddy and Sally think about AKL it is our favorite so far. Their pool has the most relaxing atmosphere, with the animals close by, and lots of shade. Hope you guys love Boma, maybe Sally will even try something new.
Make some extra time for Boardwalk it's a great family atmosphere, and if you have time take a walk around the lake and check out Storm along Bay, we always do a little stroll over there.
I CAN NOT wait to hear all about this trip.

BTW - Proudmommy you cracked me up with that "last name" comment :rotfl2:

:lmao: actually...no, Sally does not know about Stitch at Ohana just yet. I haven't quite gone over which meals are character meals and which are not...just yet. Sally liked Stitch before he burped in her face! Perhaps she'll have forgiven him by the time our breakfast rolls around...or not. We'll have to have the "giving people a second chance" talk. :rotfl:

I'll be following along for this one too. Think you could keep it under a year with 10 days?

I dare ya!

I will do my utmost to keep the time frame under a year! :rotfl2: I still can't believe it took me that long...life just gets smack in the way sometimes! I will try though!

Curious- someone who claims to be closely aligned to a duck that refuses to get wet:confused3

Okay...see, the thing is...I WAS a swimmer...big time in to swimming...for YEARS competitive swimming...but years of chronic ear infections robbed me of a bit of my hearing...and quitting swim team was really difficult for me. So I didn't go into the water for a long time...mostly b/c I had all these restrictions...no going under being the biggest one. For someone who was swimming before she walked, it was tough only being able to "stand" or bob around with the massive fear that I might get water in my ears. The "custom" ear plugs were a joke. They came out...they leaked...it was silly. So I just stopped going in at all for a while...now, as an adult I just have that "why bother" feeling. I have been told by my ear specialists that I can swim, but...blah blah blah...

y'all know what I mean.

and I don't like to be wet.

it's ick.

swimming fun...wet, not fun.

see...all clear?

okay I'm weird. I have issues.

CLEARLY.

:cutie:

One more question- what is the "last name" on the reservation this year;) ?

Aha...this year I HYPHENATED...even though technically it's not November yet so my passport is still valid under my maiden name...

but I WILL change it...

after November.

I will.

I swear.

*ahem*

Okay, major lurker here, finally emerging from lurkdom to tell you that I really enjoyed your trip report. As you may notice from my start date on the DIS and my number of posts, I don't talk much here.

I, too, am a master of the eyebrow arch. My boys know what I'm thinking without me having to say a word.

The reason I'm posting is that we leave for our trip 4 weeks from today, so our trips will overlap. On the off chance that I'll actually see you there, and feel compelled to say "hello" :wave2: , I want to have at least posted to you once.

The participants on my upcoming trip are me, my 12 year old son, my sister, and my 12 and 11 year old nieces. My husband and 15 year old son don't want to go because it will be too hot. Yeah, it will be hot, but the same crew went 3 years ago in August and we managed to have a good time. We stayed at AKL that time and loved it. We'll be at Pop this time.

My nieces are really into High School Musical, so I think I should try to watch the movie at least once, but I haven't happened upon it during any of my channel surfing.

It's nice to see that you'll have a 10 day trip this year. I know how disappointing it was for you last year, to have to cut your trip short. I hope you really enjoy it! :woohoo: And I'll be looking forward to reading all about it afterwards.

Thanks for the PTR. Looking forward to all the lists and plans.

Our first family trip to WDW back in 1994 was for 10 days. We stayed at the Poly. My kids were DD 8 & DS 9 at that time. They loved it. Every thing was exciting and had me tearing up the whole trip.

My OCD caused me to also have lists, reservations (back then) and an itinerary. My kids and husband thought I was nuts but we didn't miss a thing. I would get up before them, whip open the drapes in the room and announce it was time to get up. They didn't mind most days but the mornings I woke them at 6:30/7:00 they got pretty upset. I just announced what was planned for the day and they would become cooperative. :yay:

Anyway, can't wait to hear all the details about this trip. :)

I'm in! MissCammie I am a BIG fan. I quote you now and then in my TR.. and though it's DL so it'll never be read by anybody over here, I still give you your props! The exception being once when I called my husband a "Tall Drink of Water" :drinking1 I didn't want to quote you so it would have looked like you were calling him the tall drink.... that could get messy. :rotfl2:

I can just hear you in my head (you sound like Annie Potts from Designing Women in my head) and everything you say is cute because YOUR'RE Southern! There you have it. I am a BIG fan just like everybody else ;)

Looking forward to more!

23 Days & Counting.....

I have to ask, I know you said you write things down to remember them, but do you do it at night like a journal, or when they occur?

I want to remember my trip this year and have as much detail as you did, I just want to know the best way (b/c being a mommy has my brain fried and I can't remember anything!). I'd hate to forget the really cute moments. Please help!:goodvibes

I am a BIG fan of the Mead "little notebook". It's really teeny actually...I think I got it at CVS! I keep it with me and I write things down ALL DAY long, as they happen...something cute that was said...where we were, times of day...how the kids reacted to this or that...one summer when I was in college I worked for a lawyer and his secretary taught me shorthand...seriously, that stuff comes in HANDY!!! I also have a Passporter...I LOVE the Passporter. I recommend the Passporter to anyone and everyone going to Disney!! At the end of the day I put A LOT of the information into the passporter b/c it's great for keeping things organized on a timeline...makes for a GREAT recap of the day! LOVE The Passporter!!!

I'm a nut that way though. I've ALWAYS done that. Even when i was little bitty I was recording life into a notebook. That's just me. It DOES help with Trip Report writing though!!!

I am SO excited for your trip!!!:goodvibes I can't wait to hear all about it!!

. I love the movie and I can't listen to the Hawaiian Roller Coast ride song without tears. I do NOT know why this song does this to me, but it does.

Every. Single. Time.

:confused3

This is so true! We just watched this movie the other night with our girls! Love it! I too cannot get through that song without shedding a few tears! We had a hawaiian luau party for my daughter's 7th birthday last February (indoors, of course) and this song was the theme of the party - all the kids kept asking me why I was so sad! I had to keep explaining to them that I just really liked the song! :rotfl:

Thanks for starting your PTR Miss Cammie! Can't wait to catch up - just found you today! :)

Oh FUN!!! a birthday trip!!!

I want to do a birthday trip some day but my birthday is in December...I've heard nightmare stories about the outrageous crowds during the holidays.

no no no...no crowds. The nice weather and temperature does NOT make up for wall to wall people.

I'd rather sweat.

in a lady like way.

:flower3:

are you bringing your babies on the trip? Or is this a mommy's only trip?

I'm not too fond of crowds either, or sweat, that's why we always go in January or February :thumbsup2 well, that and wanting to get out of the snow! I am definitely bringing my babies. I'm so excited! And we're having a big disboutiquer meet too I think. Heathersue and Karebear and twob4him and t-beri....you should think about flying down! Some of us will have kids and DHs with us, some will not. I'm so happy because after our trip last year DH was saying not for another 4 years :sad1: but things happen, and here we are planning another trip! A girl needs to be someplace happy for her big 40, doesn't she? :rotfl:

Aha...this year I HYPHENATED...even though technically it's not November yet so my passport is still valid under my maiden name...

but I WILL change it...

after November.

I will.

I swear.

*ahem*

:flower3:

I am going through the same thing! I just got married on 7/19 and haven't even thought about changing my name. We are going on our honeymoon in August to Europe so I can't change my name yet because my passport is still in my maiden name as well as my plane ticket, cruise passanger info, etc...

My passport expires in 2011. Think I could hold out until then? I would just make more sense.

Hello Miss Cammie. I really enjoyed your last trip report and am excited that you are writing another one. Your kids are precious and they are very lucky to have you in their life.

Now, about December. I just wanted to let you know that I've been twice in December, and if you time it right, and use TGM, it's not so bad. I, like you, work for the school system, and so I have to plan our vacations accordingly. And I, like you, do NOT like to sweat! So, last year we left on the 19th (school let out at 12:30 and we were packed and ready to go) and came back on the 24th. We avoided the week between Christmas and New Years, but still were able to experience Disney at Christmas. And the crowds really are not that bad. Infact, I would say no worse than a summer trip.

Anyway, I wish you a fun week in WDW.:goodvibes

Even worse, I was SURE you were going to announce that you were pregnant (yes, I cried when it didn't happen. You know, pregnancy hormones and all that!)!

Hey y'all!!

Okay so...did I mention that I we have a "special events" section to this trip?!

well we DO!!

the kiddies are going to be doing a Pirate Cruise this year! It's the one leaving from the Grand Floridian! I think they will really enjoy it. I KNOW Teddy will. Sally will too...even if she does end up having to partner with her little brother.

this drives Sally insane...even though secretly I think she enjoys having someone she KNOWS to partner up with!

I was able to book a last minute ADR for The Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast for Jay and me!!:cool1: It's a SURPRISE!!!

Oh but wait...there's more...

I have also arranged for a cake from the Grand Floridian Bakery to be brought to our table at our Cindy's Gala Feast dinner! Jay and I are celebrating our second anniversary (for the second year in a row at Disney!). The lady I spoke to was very nice and said the cake was just FABULOUS...(I chose a white cake with strawberry filling and white chocolate icing. To Sally it will be Vanilla...*ahem*...:ssst:  ) It will say Happy Anniversary and all of our names. The kids get SUCH a kick out of seeing their names on cakes!:lovestruc

I decided to do the cake at Cindy's Gala Feast b/c I've heard that the GF bakery cakes are the best and it seems less of a hassle to have the cake made at the resort where we have our ADR. I've read the cakes thread on the Restaurants board...there can be complications when trying to arrange delivery and such...and we don't want any of those!!!

oh but wait...there's STILL more...

I'm also having Chocolate covered strawberries delivered to the room along with two wine glasses on our ACTUAL anniversary.

AND...

I'm having welcome baskets for the kids made...not huge...but they'll have binoculars and starter pin trading lanyards and new fat pens for characters signature getting...and some other odds and ends.

that's it.

did I go WAY overboard? I know I did. But I'm just so proud of the kids. They've had a long year of massive transition and I want them to have a magical trip. We don't go overboard all year long and I know I can't fix their lives with "stuff"...but oh it does FEEL good to be surprised.

I guess I just know what it feels like to always expect "the other shoe to drop". I hate it that they feel that way...especially Sally. I don't want them to worry that something bad might happen to steal their joy. I want them start this trip wondering what next GOOD THING is around the corner!

Jay too...he needs surprises and some effort put forth on HIS behalf.

I might be an obsessive compulsive, bossy and neurotic nutcase...but I LOVE my family and I throw all my might at surprising them when I can!

I'm REALLY excited for this trip.

Have you taken a gander at the cakes sticky thread on the restaurants board? It's HEAVENLY to look at! There is a picture of a dark chocolate cake covered with huge strawberries...oh my goodness. What a coincidence ... we're also celebrating our anniversary at the Gala Feast dinner. We'll be there on Sept 24th.

This will be our 9th anniversary but the 2nd year in a row that we'll be at Disney. We'll be celebrating with our 2 DDs and 10 other friends (ages 1 - 38) that will be traveling with us.

I should think about a cake.

I can't WAIT to see and hear how this is. I am ordering one for my dd's b-day and have been trying to figure just what to order. :confused3

I love that you are including the names of the entire family. Tells a lot about how much you care to keep you all united!

The kids WILL LOVE THE the pirate cruise. My ds did it last fall on our mommy and son trip. He still talks about it!

I am inlove with your family (in a non-threatening way :hippie:). I stumbled upon your TR yesterday and finished it off in just two days ... (obviously I have plenty of time on my hands). It was like reading a really really funny and heartwarming book that I can't put down, it was addicitive .

I am ecstatic and looking forward on your upcomming trip to WDW, I kinda feel like I'm going with you myself and I look forward reading tons and tons of your TR soon :wizard: sending pixie dust along your way for a magical trip ahead.

You've touched a lot of people here in Disboards Miss Cammie, and you're truly one of a kind :flower3: more power for the wicked step mom with a heart of gold.

I should think about a cake.

congrats on your 9th!!:goodvibes DEFINITELY think about a cake!!:thumbsup2 Nothings says LOVE like a cake!!

I am really happy you are getting the chance to go on you trip for the full 10 days. Your last report was so wonderful.

Some requests and reminders.

If you see a wild looking child on the plane in the seat next to you, switch seats with Jay. :thumbsup2

To add to your checklists, multiple pairs of underwear in various sizes for those parents that just seem to forget. :confused3

I hope you have a very relaxing and wonderful vacation, but I am not going to lie, can't wait for you to return so we can follow the life and times of the CAMBELLSCOTTS at Disney.

Oh believe me, I've got the hockey mask ready to go and my magic Mary Poppins bag all packed!:lmao:

Wonderful extras you are adding on! The special cakes are yummy.
We are celebrating our engagement anniversary (since we don't go to Disney on our real one in March) and I'm having rose petals decorate our villa.

That is a FABULOUS idea!! I love those extra touches...lets our sweeties know they are very special indeed!!!:lovestruc

The kids WILL LOVE THE the pirate cruise. My ds did it last fall on our mommy and son trip. He still talks about it!

I'm glad to know the Pirate Cruise was well received by your little one! I think the kids will like it a lot. It's something new and different, which is always a good idea!!!

I have to say, I love your ADR's, if I were planning a trip to WDW, (which I'm not :sad2: , we're on the other side of the country now) that would about be my list too! My very favorites are Spoodles and 1900 Park Fare. At Spoodles, my DH and I just make a dinner out of 3 or so appetizers and some Sangria, so yummy! And they have the Mickey shaped pasta for the kids! At 1900 Park Fare, we all love the Strawberry Soup, "It's scrumptious", as they said in the Passporter a couple of editions back! Not sure if they have it at dinner though?

Love the treats. I just love surprising my family with treats. A few years ago I surprised my kids with a cake, flowers for my daughter and candy for my son. We were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal. It was my son's birthday and my daughter had just been accepting to the University of Tampa. The conceirge at the hotel did a wonderful job with my requests.

I discovered your first TR about a week ago. Your writing made me feel like I was right there at Disney with you.:goodvibes I was thrilled to read that the trip was wonderful on so many levels for your family.

I was also happy to read about another parent who PARENTS their children and, with complete manners, stands up to others when necessary all the while staying a lady. You go!!

You were so prepared for so many situations on your last trip - I have to ask what bag you carried to keep all of those supplies and how much did it weigh?

Really excited to keep reading about the CampbellScot adventures!

:rotfl2:

Yes my bag was a teensy bit heavy-ish...I carry a Diaper Dude messenger bag...camoflage with an orange Chinese symbol on the middle pocket!!

I LOVE this bag. It really worked for us.

It carried quite a bit...as I tend to do...b/c I have issues...

Normally I don't carry extra pull ups and such. That was a happy coincidence...for the nekkid baby anyhow...:lmao:

They're great bags though. I got mine from traveling tikes.com. It was the best price on the web. $49 and free shipping!!

And I'll tell y'all what...I carry a first aid kid everywhere I go and I've had cause to use it several times! Just the other day Jay and I came upon a little boy who had fallen on an escalator and had a nasty cut on his leg that was really bleeding. The dad was trying to stop the bleeding with his SOCK that he'd taken off...:scared1:

I hurriedly stopped him and told him that I had a first aid kit! The little boy was cleaned up, disinfected and patched up with a couple of scooby doo band-aids in under five minutes!

Jay had actually been in the bathroom and found me on the floor with this little boy patching him up. He cracked up laughing later and said "You've got a first aid high don't you?"

::yes::

I may go to medical school someday...

;)

First aid kits ROCK!

I even had a t-shirt made for her 16th. birthday.. On the front it says, "Watch-out student driver" and on the back it says "On a mission to find the rule-breakers"!! Yesterday we "graze shopped" through Wally World and Target. Graze shopping is when you go through stores with no list in particular...but as you see things you say "OH, we NEED this for Disney!"...even though you had no real intention of buying.

:confused3

I am the QUEEN of this. I can nickel and dime myself to DEATH with graze shopping...this reminds me very much of animals that graze...they have no intention really of WHICH grass they are going to graze on...they just graze b/c it happens to be in their face...before they know it they've mowed a pretty long strip over a long distance of ground.

We do this at Wally World...and at Target...and the mall...especially at Bloomingdales..."OH I NEED that Ella Moss dress for Disney...it would so breezy and cool in the humidity..."

The Bloomies grazing annoys Jay the most.

oh and at the Coach store too...

*ahem*

Where were we?

OH yes...the damage done at Wally World and Target!

As we shopped, we happened upon those battery operated Mister fans that cost an arm and a leg at Disney...b/c they've got you at the MERCY of the sweltering heat and humidity...so SOMEHOW it makes sense to spend $20+ on a misty fan thingie that the kids never end up carrying...which means the family pack Mule...ME...ends up carrying it...b/c I'm controlling and don't want the kids to lose these ridiculously expensive items...which leads to me being weighed down, causing bad posture...and migraines...which leads to massive pain and giant pill swallowing and general grouchiness and overall shortening of my life span...

I'm NOT even being dramatic...there have been studies.

seriously.

it's TRUE!

*ahem*

SO...it makes sense that we would buy said battery operated Misty fan thingies NOW instead of later...they will still be heavy and end up being carried by me, but to the tune of just $4.99 and not $20+...which somehow makes me feel better about it.

:confused3

Sally picked a pink one...of course...and Teddy picked...can you guess?

A BLUE one!

All about tradition these kids!

Next we found ourselves STOCKING up huge on the 70+ sunscreen...for the Irish girl. :shamrock: We got something like 6 bottles of the misty spray no rub sunscreen...is anybody else as shocked by the price of sunscreen as I am?! It's like UV protection is not something the sunscreen companies think should be afforded to everyday Americans!:confused3 But I don't mess around with sun protection...no matter how much it may empty the wallet! We ended up with three Coppertone Sport and three Neutrogena Helioplex Cooling mist!!

We reapply often.

I set an alarm for every 2 hours.

The kids still turn 5 shades of brown.

:headache:

We also have 18 more days of swimming pools and general outside playing BEFORE Disney! We NEEDED that many bottles of sunscreen!!

we also got a bunch of other little odds and ends...Lysol wipes for the room, travel Lysol spray, hand sanitizer gel that I can attach to the park bag, and this one is my favorite...travel toilet seat covers!:lmao:

but seriously...we need them...Sally would NEVER ever go to the bathroom without them...and the child can't hold it for ten days!

We had a happy little pile of stuff when we finally headed to the checkout!

That was just at Wally World.

We still had Target to go!!

While we were at Target Miss Sally spied something that she absolutely HAD to have.

HAD. TO. HAVE.

It was a black messenger bag...with a picture of Troy and Gabriella from High School Musical...and they weren't just standing there...nope...they were HUGGING!

Sally and I were browsing through the "back to school" section of clothes...just seeing what good ol Tar-zhay thought was cool...when I suddenly heard Sally's sharp intake of breath...

"MissCAMMIE!!! Look!!! It's Gabriella and Troy...and they're HUGGING...just like how when you hug daddy!!!"

She sold me right there. I HOPE I look that fabulous when through Sally's eyes!

*ahem*

I did tell her though that Daddy may be putting his foot down and not buying anything that is NOT on the list as we had already grazed a bit at Wally World.

"But MissCammie, can I just SHOW him?! So he'll remember what it looks like in case he gets it for me?! And it's BIGGER than my I Love Troy bag from last summer and LOOK...it has a DIET COKE HOLDER on the side!!! (:lmao: ) I can hold an extra Diet Coke for you at Disney!!!"

goodness gracious this child was sellin it!

She wanted that bag something FIERCE!

Never mind that we JUST got her a Jansport Tote Bag that she had seen on Icarly and was pining over...(the child has a bag THING...like her step mama!) Technically that particular bag hadn't been intended to be a "park bag" (it's a tote with no cross body strap which is not good for park touring!) and we like Sally to have her own park bag so that she can be responsible for her own things. It gives her a sense of control and responsibility and it gives me a break! ANd this bag WAS bigger than last years, but not overly big, AND it did have that handy dandy Diet Coke holder.

and really isn't that what it's all about? Providing opportunities for the children to carry Diet Coke for their step mama?

yep. it is.

*ahem*

she's SO getting the bag.

says I.

we just had to get it past daddy!!!

Jay was actually heading towards the doors when Sally caught up with him to show him the bag. (Jay often will take purchases out to the car while Sally and I browse! He's fabulous that way!) I had prepared her for the fact that Daddy would probably veto the bag for the moment.

I underestimated the power of SallyRally and her big brown eyes!

:flower3:

She showed her daddy all the bells and whistles...sang the praises of the Diet Coke holder...pointed out Gabriella and Troy hugging just like "You and MissCammie"...and clinched it with,

"I'm just showing you for next time so if you think I've earned it, then maybe this would be a good bag for me..."

I know...she's brilliant.

the kicker is that Sally wasn't acting or manipulating. She actually meant that.

which is why she's such a good girl.

Jay knew that too which is why he told her she could go ahead and get it now.

Oh my goodness the SUNSHINE that beamed off that child's face.

It's SO worth giving her things b/c she is just so thrilled with it. Jay was rewarded with a million thank you's and a giant hug.

Sally is GREAT at Thank You's.

SO...she got her bag.

She was thrilled to her toes.

She slept with it last night!

We have 47 more days. Yesterday I layed out my clothes and DD to make sure that we had enough for our 10 day trip to the Worlds and guess what, I didn't and neither did DD. I guess we'll need to make a quick "Graze Shopping" to Dallas/Ft. Worth before to long. :woohoo:

Have a great day.

We're not packed yet...I know...SHOCK!! But we are in the middle of "upgrades" at the house...as we plan to move in the next year or so...if the wretched housing market improves that is...so we've got projects all over the place and it's FREAKING me out. The very idea of packing and laying clothes out all over the place is just OVERLOAD for me!! Although tomorrow I'm putting the kids through the "Here, try this on..." process to make sure that we wont' have pinched toes or uncomfortable shorts while at Disney. It never fails that the kids forget to tell me that something hurts or is too small until we are smack in the middle of "What am I supposed to do about it NOW?" I SWEAR they grow two inches+ from June to September!

I need to face the packing soon though...

:scared1:

Have FUN shopping in Dallas!!! :cool1:

Oh she's not giving up the I love Troy bag!:lmao: It's coming along for "evening trips"...the black bag is for DAY trekking!!!

Sally also pointed out that while black bags go with most everything, she does have some pastel colored dresses that would look better with a smaller pink bag!:cutie:

This is a child following so closely in my footsteps I don't even know what!

I love reading about the continuing story of Miss Cammie, Sally and Teddy! You make shopping at Target sound like an adventure! Actually Sally sounds like my dd, she's 3 and has more purses then I do...:rotfl:

Oh my gosh...Sally is too cute. :rotfl2: She reminds me of my daughter who is already becoming a master at "working it" and she is only 3 right now, :scared1: but what is so adorable is the fact that they don't know they are doing it. They REALLY don't!!! :cutie:

Love the diet coke holder too. :lmao: I can totally see her carrying one for you too.

I can't wait to hear your opinion on AKL...it looks SO awesome, but it is SO far away from everything and I worry about that, so we have not stayed there, BUT I know you will be honest, so I am dying to hear your take on it.

we also got a bunch of other little odds and ends...Lysol wipes for the room, travel Lysol spray, hand sanitizer gel that I can attach to the park bag, and this one is my favorite...travel toilet seat covers!:lmao:

but seriously...we need them...Sally would NEVER ever go to the bathroom without them...and the child can't hold it for ten days!

OMG-this is the first I have heard of this! NO toilet seat covers in Disney? I always find this odd when I visit other states and there are no seat covers? It just doesn't make sense to me!

Thanks for the warning, I will stock up on the travel ones.

I am glad you are getting your full 10 days this year, it seems the evil is reversed in your situation and thank goodness, not able to ruin that this year!

I hope you enjoy that zero entry pool at AKL and have a great time. So far, Florida hasn't been unbearably hot, but I live here, so used to it.

Have a great time and no one allowed to be sick! WooHoo, you're going to Disney!!!

OMG! I SO do this--I just never knew it was offically called "graze shopping". I have a wonderful stash from my graze shopping--stashed all over the house so DH won't see! Haha! I DO have toilet seat covers, and trial size everything...and I do mean everything *ahem*

So glad to be reading your trip report(s) again, Miss Cammie

We originally went for a day messenger bag like the one Sally got, but I don't think DH is going to like carrying around a HSM bag in Italy. :rotfl:

Hey, it's a gift card. That's practically free anyway,. :rolleyes1

I am loving reading about the soon to be adventures of Miss Cammie and clan!

And how cool is it that the kids are doing the pirate adventure? My DS is still too young, I know he would go nuts for something like that, so I'm really looking forward to reading about it! Especially through the eyes of Sally and Teddy, those two.:goodvibes

How great that you've set up all that for your anniversary and for the kids. You know what, sometimes it's just nice to spoil ourselves a little bit, nothing wrong with that at all.:thumbsup2 That's how I talked my DH into staying at the Wilderness Lodge this year...."but honey, it's free dining, and the standard room is the least expensive...":rolleyes1

:thumbsup2

Luckily, the sunloungers at AKL are a gorgeous place to lie in the sun for "Supervising", plus, there is a strategically placed pool bar for "Diet Coke" breaks....

Ok, after reading the last report between "working" I am soooo glad to be reading a new TR. I have just one question, since I never actually read all the millions of pages (ok, not quite that many), but only skipping to the trpi report pages, what ever happened with kids planned move? I have been hoping they were able to stay close by their oh-so "evil" step mother and their Dad. Also, are you going to keep an index on your first page again? Makes it so much easier to read when I'm supposed to be working!!

I spent the afternoon yesterday reading your trip report...it was like an obsession! I'm so glad I found this PTR and can't wait to read all about your adventures!

We're doing many of the same ADR's this November, and can't wait to read what you thought of them (IF you get to those days by the time we go, lol!).

Can't wait for your trip to begin...and, yeah :cheer2: for you for getting your 10 days! Our trip will be 9 days/8 nights and with our 2, 3 and 4 (turning 5) year olds, it will probably be just long enough. I CAN'T WAIT to celebrate our dd's 5th b'day at Disney; we've (meaning me) got BBB booked (surprise for dd) first thing in the morning and then the castle breakfast right afterwards. I'm so excited...I just can't wait!!

Sorry for rambling, but Disney is just soo much fun to plan for (almost as much fun as actually being there!).

I think this year I'm going to do ADR reviews on the Restaurant board as well as a TR...the ADR's are such a big part of our planning so it would make sense to review the food...that way if people just want to know opinions about where we ate, they can read the reviews and avoid the rambling!!!:lmao:

Seriously! And I do mean SERIOUSLY!!! I started reading your Trip Report about 3 hours ago and I was ADDICTED. I must finish this. Tonight. Yes, that is what I told myself...and 3 hours in...loving every minute of it...I hit last page to see where I would end up. Imagine my surprise when I realized it is 136 pages long and spans an entire year! HOLY MOLEY, I can't possibly finish this sucker tonight!!! Crapper!!! I need a fast track...did the kiddos have to move to the shore? Did CampbellScot change her name? How can I possibly sleep tonight without knowing the answers to these life altering questions? How could you do this to me Miss Cammie??? :) I am going to try to sleep now and I am sure I will totally neglect my children tomorrow in order to be "in the know"!

Great job!!!

I'm so glad you've joined us!! :goodvibes Your babies are going to have a GLORIOUS time!!! I hope you write a TR! Your trip should be so much fun with your little ones...and really people don't often write TR's with kiddos as little as yours. I'm sure a lot of people with young kids who are nervous about taking them would LOVE to know how your trip goes!:thumbsup2

I think this year I'm going to do ADR reviews on the Restaurant board as well as a TR...the ADR's are such a big part of our planning so it would make sense to review the food...that way if people just want to know opinions about where we ate, they can read the reviews and avoid the rambling!!!:lmao:

Our first trip was October of last year (with a then just turned one year old, a 2 year old and a 3 year old....it was GREAT!)..I could kick myself for not doing a TR after that one! It was a blast - we all had the best time.

I think I will try a TR this year, plus we're doing the ddp so I'll definitely have to review our food (mmmmmmm foooood!).

Hey, the rambling is the best part about your reports...I wouldn't miss them! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I did the SAME thing I spent four days only doing basic things for my kids! Making sure that they had food and drink and then it was leave me alone... I am off to read about Miss Cammie... the kids were like WHO?
During the school year was better because I didn't have anyone to bother me for at least three hours a day while the youngest was in preschool! I was heaven:cloud9:

Christmas planning is going good. I'm going crazy I tell ya. Yesterday I called Disney to switch the extra day from Sunday night to Friday night and then APOLOGETICALLY called againg to switch it back:rolleyes1 . They must think I'm crazy. I'm just trying to figure out what's best b/c we will have our dogs with us, but I found out that on our last day, I can pick them up at any time and we just get charged for the day, not overnight, so I THINK :scared: I'm good.

I said to Jay yesterday..."We leave in Two Weeks and Two Days!"

He gave me a "you are NUTS woman" look...and then did the math in his head. The "panic" look replaced the previous look!:lmao:

He always gets twitchy at the two week mark!

He wasn't home yesterday when I was having the kids try on their shoes. He missed the wallet shot...that I haven't dropped on him yet...:lmao: Teddy has grown clean out of his Keens! I was really hoping he could wear them one more year. They fit him fine in June. The child's feet have grown THAT MUCH since the beginning of the summer. :sad2: It's a bummer b/c we will have to get him a new pair before we go...sooner rather than later so he can wear them around and get them all broken in just right for Disney.

I'm a big fan of Keens. They are great for kids like Teddy who need total foot protection...options to get wet...and remain cool. He has his croclings too...but those aren't quite as hardy as the Keens. Keens are TOUGH, but light and very supportive to his little frame that is growing like a dang weed! Shoes are the ONE place that that Jay and I agree that quality has to be first. Usually I'm in the "It doesn't make sense to spend crazy amounts for kids clothing b/c they grow out of it so fast..." camp. But shoes are a different arena. Supportive shoes in children's young years are much more important than people might think. Since we work with all sorts of Physical therapist's and occupational therapists and orthopedic doctors and such, we are well versed in the importance of sturdy, well made supportive shoes for children...well versed meaning I'm paranoid about it...I know...shocker!

it's unfortunate that such sturdy, supportive shoes for children are often shockingly expensive! Even though I was bummed that Teddy had grown out of his Keens...I happen to know some places that I can get them for a very reasonable price! I ROCK at internet deal finding!!!:cool1:

Sally too jumped on the "It doesn't FIT" bandwagon!:scared1: Seriously, her Mickey crocs fit her last MONTH even...but when she put her feet into them yesterday her toes came right to the edge and squished. Even without the strap behind her ankle! *sigh*

She has her pink Minnie Janes...(women's size 6!!) and her flip flops that she is currently passionate about. I'm thinking she needs another pair of shoes. Jay thinks I'm nuts. He thinks she has plenty of shoes with a pair of crocs and a pair of flips and a pair of sneaks. ( The kids are required to wear sneakers for the Pirate Cruise)...BUT the sneaks don't count in the shoe round up as Sally will not wear those except for the cruise...and only then b/c we've had to threaten to take her birthday away! Seriously! (Sally LOATHES sneakers!) With a ten day trip I think the kids need more than two pairs of shoes!

I think I'll get Sally another pair of crocs while we are hunting for Keens for Teddy this weekend. Poor Jay will have to deal with it...or I'll hide it...

probably hide it...

JUST KIDDING...

or am I?

;)

The thing is...poor Jay just has no clue about shoes. He has his one pair of Keens that he got last year (and LOVED by the way!) Jay is NOT a sandal wearing guy. No flip flops, no rugged Teva type sandals...he just can't stand it. He wants his foot covered totally...even though he has very nice feet for a man...*ahem* I tried to sell him on Keens, but he insisted he wasn't a sneaker hybrid kind of guy either. I reminded him about our Honeymoon when we were at Magic Kingdom smack in the middle of Hurricane Ernesto. His sneakers and socks had been a wet squelchy mess after an hour and they never really dried after that...this did NOT make Jay very happy...so he said he'd "try on" some Keens...mostly to humor me I suspect..but he arrived home with a pair of his very own!!

the point being, he's happy with ONE pair of "Disney Shoes" and his sneakers and a pair of dress shoes.

Now ask me how many pairs of shoes I'm taking...

more than three!

:cool2:

I once made the mistake of mentioning that I "needed" a pair of black shoes.

Now I am not a shoe person, per se....I'm really not!

He calmly went into our room and lined up about 13 pairs of black shoes (I know that isn't many to most of you but to a man that's alot of black shoes!) and proclaimed that "need" was not really the correct term for what I most obviously only WANTED!

I'm going to sound like a big nerd but I'm gonna go ahead and say it anyway. I am a huge fan of your trip report. I even copied it onto a word document at work so it I could read it without it looking like I was slacking:upsidedow

I love your humor and you have inspired me to write a trip report for my upcoming trip. It won't be nearly as entertaining as yours since I won't have the comic relief that your children bring to the table but I'll give it my best shot. [They are darling as I'm sure you know] Hope you have a great time on your next trip, can't wait to hear all about it.

:lmao: My bratty response to my husband doing such a thing would have been to go out and buy THREE new pairs of black shoes...b/c I am the boss of my own self...SO THERE! ;) AND not all black shoes are created alike...there are many variations, applications, shades, shapes and functions to the black shoe...men do not get this. Clearly!

Besides there are plenty of things that husbands say they NEED when really it's a want...and therefore NOT necessary...TWO can play at that game!

My kids hate sneakers especially in the summer. I was going to let them wear their crocs.

So where are you looking for these shoes? I need to find a great pair of walking shoes for our HM...here I am talking about MY trip on YOUR PTR. :flower3:

I have been looking at Privos by Clarkes and think they are really comfortable, but have been suggested to look at Teva and Keens. I might go back to mall grazing this weekend to try on a few. But I would like to get them at a great price!

sorry for causing panic! The CM I spoke to when I was booking told me that the kids should wear sneakers. She didn't say they absolutely had upon pain of death...but I think that flimsy flip flops are a no no. I'm sure I read on the boards here and there that kids have worn sandals that are strapped to their feet...tevas, timberlands...stuff like that. One lady said her kiddo wore her crocs with the strap behind her foot so they'd stay on. I'm pretty sure the reasoning behind it is that 1. The CM's don't want kids to slip while on the boat and 2. They'll be romping around looking for buried treasure and it's difficult to romp in flip flops! I'm actually going to ask once more to see if athletic sandals would be okay. I don't want to lug around sneaks all day after the cruise!

Oh I LOVE mall grazing for shoes!!:cool1:

I personally LOVE Privos!! I have two pairs of Privo Dulce flip flops that are just HEAVEN on your feet! Totally comfortable from the get go! Totally worth the price in my humble opinon! (They are rather wide though and look a teeny bit like paddles...I don't have very big feet so the paddle effect wasn't overly pronounced on me, but I'll admit that a woman near me was trying the same shoes on to her size 11 feet and I secretly prayed that she would see how atrociously unflattering those flips were to her feet! She did!:thumbsup2 Mostly b/c her husband walked up and said "Oh are we going snow skiing in Florida?:rotfl2: She gave a not very polite gesture to him in response...but she agreed that they just weren't working!)

wow...did I get off track or WHAT?!

I am major fan of Teva Mush flip flops. LOVE THEM. Mostly b/c the toe post isn't set way back from the front so that people who have short feet (ME) don't have to buy a size larger than normal to keep your heel from falling off the back of the flip! Reefs do this to me. If I buy my size in Reefs, there is way too much room at the front and I'm right at the very edge in the back. This annoys me. I need symmetry. That being said, I love my Reefs too! Not as squishy fabulous as Teva Mush, but still comfy and supportive. I just have to buy a size larger than I normally wear.

I don't know if you can tell but I'm obsessed with flip flops! I used to be a MAJOR birkenstocks fan...I still find them very comfy and great for park touring in terms of support to your back and such...I used to be massively anti-flip flops...anything between my toes made me INSANE. Then I got a pair of Teva Mush just before my wedding from a friend who had gotten a pair and never took them out of the box. I fell in  !! I realized that the toe post is the issue. Fabric toe posts ROCK. Round rubber toe posts do NOT rock. They cause blisters...any rigid toe post can cause blisters and it takes a while to get your feet conditioned to them. I have a darling pair of Havaianas but I don't wear them b/c they have a fat toe post and it hurts! Cute to look at though!

Did I just go on and on about flip flops for two paragraphs?:lmao:

Where I buy them...well Shoes.com is a good place to start. They can have pretty decent deals and they always have free shipping! I hate it when I find really low priced shoes and I get excited thinking I'm getting a deal and then the shipping is insanely high, which cancels out any deal getting!

Shoebuy.com always seems to have good deals...20% off or $25 off when you buy three...stuff like that. Do a google search for online coupons for shoebuy.com. You'll find a lot. ALSO...if you need them quickly and aren't as worried about price, Zappos.com has free overnight shipping. Of course the "free" is a load, b/c Zappos prices are MUCH higher than the prices anywhere else...but you get your shoes the very next day!

also, you can check out Sierratradingpost.com. They can have AMAZING deals...but shipping isn't free. But it's always worth a look!

hope I was helpful...even though I took my usual roundabout way of getting to the point!

yes, Keens are a little on the pricier side...you can find sales sometimes...but I've never gotten *fabulous* deals on Keens. They are a great investment though. They'll last you for AGES, they are light and durable and very comfortable!!

I have a pair of Keens Bali...they're like slip ons...pretty comfy overall. I don't particularly care for how they look on ME, but they are cute shoes and they weren't outrageously expensive!

Have you ladies tried Eliza B flip flops? they are the most comfortable flip flops! It may sound strange but the bottom is a harder rubber which keeps your feet from working so hard. Everyone I have recommended them to have enjoyed them as well. They are preppy so if that's your style take a look.

PS. I've worn mine to Disney World and can usually wear them for 3-4 days before I need to switch shoes.

Did I read in previous posts some of you were partial to Keens? Miss Cammie?

I've been on the search for a great sandal for the World with no luck. Typically, I'm a Merrells girl, but being that I have one foot slighlty larger than the other (doesn't everyone?) I really need an 8.5, and they don't make half sizes.

Normally I'm not partial to the Keens, but I found a really cute style last night and went aheand ordered them. :goodvibes

:goodvibes

Keeping my fingers crossed that they're good, and thanks for letting me hijack this thread for a bit.:thumbsup2

What style did you get? I have a pair of Keens Bali that are VERY comfortable but I don't like the way my feet look in them...:confused3 but I've got issues.

I LOVE Keens for Jay and Teddy. They are perfect for the boys and the kind of boys they are...which is rough and tumble.

I hope you like your keens!!! Do a keens review!! I wanna know!!!:thumbsup2

Miss Cammie:
I have to throw my two cents in "Keen's Rule...":worship:

I just love them, almost everyone in our family has a pair except, DH, he has Teva's. I have Keen Newports in Clay and Lime Green, DD has the Newports in Navy, and DS17 has an orange pair of Keen Maupin, he thinks they are cool for young hip guys...:lmao:

Now I do know that DD14 and DS17 will NOT wear them to school, they aren't that cool, :rotfl:

but they plan on wearing the everyday in DisneyWorld..

How's the trip planning coming? Almost ready?? Looking forward to hearing more about your trip.

TexasBelle:cutie:

PS: I'm working on my pretrip, hopefully I'll have page one up before you leave on your trip. :scared1: It takes me forever to write something, I have to proof read it over and over..:scared:

Ok, officially I am addicted. You last TR was amazing. I am very new to the DIS boards and will be posting my first PTR on here soon. Although I need to ask a favor....

When you write your next one (which I KNOW we are all anxiously awaiting) can you please put in a crying icon before the "Hallmark movie" moments? I need some sort of hint that I am going to start crying and to get my tissues ready. I laughed, cried, got mad at rule breakers and bawled like a baby at the interaction between Minnie and SallyRally. Seriously, I cannot take it anymore. I need forewarning. You do such a fab job at expressing your emotions through each moment that I felt like I was on the trip with you. Thank you for sharing. :)

Would you mind posting which Keens Teddy wears? I have two six year old boys and want to check them out for our trip. The only store here that carries Keens for kids is Nordstrom, so I want to be sure they will wear them as I am sure they will be pricey!

:thumbsup2

First of all, why was I not informed of this pre-trip report? I had no idea! No shameless posting about it all!

Second, you are correct, proper pool supervision requires a person to watch the kids like a hawk while the other parent is waiting at the bar for a beer for what seems like hours...

And if you are lucky, your flailing child will be saved by a nice boy and you only have to get your shoes wet when you reach over to pluck her out.

Not that I hold grudges or anything...

But you won't have to worry about that since AKL has no vortex of death. :)

Third, all this talk about flip flops is very interesting to me. I am a collector of flip flops. I do not usually wear them, as they make my foot cramp up. Plus my feet are long and narrowish (less narrow than they were before the kids) and flip flops are not the most flattering look.

So does anyone get crampy feet with flip flops? Advice?

Sorry I thought I quoted this:

This is in response to the question about what kind of Keens Teddy wears! :)

I have a few different sandals for Teddy. As for Keens we like the Newport H2 the best. It has nylon webbing for the upper part of the shoe as opposed to the "water resistant" leather of the regular Newport. The nylon dries incredibly fast. Teddy had a pair of the regular Newports a couple of summers ago. They were great, but the leather took time to dry and I found that his feet would be damp most of the day. Not hugely...but enough to make me worry about swamp feet!:lmao: The H2 works best for us. Both shoes are great!!

And just b/c I know that everyone is MASSIVELY interested...Teddy also wears Timberland Rock Skipper II sandals. These are great b/c they are strapped firmly to his feet and they are really supportive and don't cause blisters. I'd say these are Teddy's MOST preferred sandal...next to his Mickey Croclings of course! Teddy likes shoes based on how easily he can get them on and off by himself!

ALSO...in the interest of bargain shopping...which I  ... Teddy has a pair of brown leather sandals from Payless that Jay had rushed out to buy him last minute b/c SOMEONE (jay) had forgotten to pack his "good" sandals for our rehearsal dinner two years ago! Those have held up beautifully and they are very sturdy and comfortable...according to Teddy!

aren't shoes endlessly fun to talk about?:thumbsup2

Sorry Steph!! I haven't done a lot of advertising this go round...I PROMISE to shamelessly promote next time!!:thumbsup2

so wait...you "collect" flips...but not wear them?! That must be EXCRUCIATING as you live in the Flip Flop capital of the WORLD!!!

Okay so I actually might know why your feet get crampy when you wear flip flops!

it's probably b/c your feet are anxious.:teacher:

seriously.

your feet are anxious that the flips will fall off, so they grip really hard when you walk. This exhausts all the muscles and tendons in your feet and they cramp up!

So you have to remind your feet not to grip so hard and just to walk. It takes practice!

AND if you have narrow feet, I would suggest flip flops by The North Face! They aren't any more pricey than Teva flips, but they are narrower at the base and would probably look FABULOUS on your feet!

These flips do NOT look nice on my short little hobbit feet.

My feet are jealous of your feet.

I am loving all this shoe talk! Every time we go to WDW I try out a different type of sandal . . . constantly on a quest for something that will be comfortable & stand up to a full day of touring the parks, yet actually looks good. So far, I have only found one or the other. The quest continues . . . bring on the Keen's!!! :goodvibes

I just counted: six pairs of flip flops. I've got a rubber pair from Old Navy I wear to the beach and the others I do not wear. And I just threw out three or four pairs. I just ordered some cute brown and pink ones from The North Face so thanks! I will try to tell my feet to relax. I think between that and having a high arch most flip flops are not suitable for me.

How did I know you would have the answer for me?

we SO have ESP!! How funny that you would have ordered that brand!

You also might want to try Privo flip flops...Dulce and Bon Bon styles of privos are really cute, and have high arch support!

Also, Birkenstock makes a "high arch" version of a ton of their shoes...you can also get a narrow foot bed. Birks aren't the prettiest but they are really super comfy!!

what am I thinking right NOW?

did you think that I am thinking about ICE CREAM?!

You must promise though, if you don't like them, please don't send Scrappy the bloodthirsty dachshund on a hunt for me!

Sally has a pair from TNF...she LIVES in them. They must be comfy b/c Sally would NOT wear something that caused her the tiniest bit of discomfort!

uh oh...there was just a GIANT crack of thunder over here...which means I'm stuck...b/c I do NOT drive in biblical proportion downpours. Maybe it's just fixin to get loud and then pass on...

speaking of...how has the weather been down in Florida? More sun than wet? I guess it's always a combination down there... I am determined to see all of Animal Kingdom this trip...last year it poured so hard we barely got through the first half mile!

seeing as how the kids have such snazzy tees to wear to Animal Kingdom...we need to maximize the exposure!!!!:cool1: guess it's good we are staying at AKL!!!

I was thinking, what if I don't like them? I guess I can send them to Sally and she can wear them in a few months, the way she is growing! Anyway, they can keep the other flip flops in my closet company if they don't work out.

It has been very hot and muggy here. But last week it rained every day here on the Tampa side. I would expect in Orlando humid hotness during the morning and afternoon thundershowers.

Speaking of which, stay safe!

Actually last weekend we were at Downtown Disney during the afternoon and it was rather pleasent. There was a nice little breeze.

So there is hope that it won't be a sauna the whole time you are here!

Where did you order from if you don't mind my nosiness...can you send them back if they don't work out? I do hope you like them. I have walked around in Sally's a couple of times and they are very comfy and well made.

I have a pair of North Face Basecamp flips that aren't narrow like the pair Sally has...they have an "eggcrate" footbed. It's not super squishy but it's nice. They are pretty sturdy too and have good arch support!

Privos are good too!!! A lot on sale right now!!!

We've never had a major problem with the weather while at Disney...even during our honeymoon, when Hurricane Ernesto hit, we weren't bothered. It was the best day we had at the parks!! I always worry that it will storm more than sun and we'll miss out on a lot due to sogginess!

Perhaps I'll use the SECRET and influence the weather...it will be nice and sunny and rain free...

is it working?

I do NOT let Teddy wear flip flops. EVER. Every time he wears flips when he's not here, he falls. Every single time. And he doesn't just fall down. Aren't Stride Rites shoes the BEST?! I love that store. They are so great about checking for the right fit. I love how they are so intent on the kids as they try on shoes. It's serious stuff! Stride Rite is all the kiddos wore up until about age 7...then Sally received a pair of crocs from her step mama for Christmas...changed the shoe landscape for EVER in our house!

Teddy still wears Stride Rites as "school shoes".

Also, MissCammie the trampoline was introduced at the last summer Olympics as a sport. USA did braodcast the finals as i remember seeing it on tv. It was sooo cool. You have 10 "jumps" to do as many tricks as you can before your turn is over.

ESP! :lmao:

Neither one of my kids is particularly graceful but Jacob is the worst. They can wear flip flops to the beach and that is about it! Jacob is forever walking out of his so they got banned from everyday wear. I told him to let me know when he could stay in them and then he could wear them.

Poor Sally: we have PE every day here. She would just be miserable!

I actually remember watching trampolining, it must have been the last olympics. It is hardcore!

Good find! I will have to check Sears out. I ordered some shoes from Land's End (why yes, they were sandals) that I need to take back there. No, I did not know they had the exact same sandals there that I could have tried on for free and found out they didn't fit.

I will have to check out the shorts. Can't have too many of them!

The kids are watching the opening ceremony with their mouths gaping in awe but I find them boring. :scared: I am trying to decide whether to sew or to scrapbook. Have a great night!

Yes...Land's End is at Sears...which is VERY helpful...my mother-in-law LIVES in lands' end stuff, and it makes it easier for her to return what we get her for Christmas that she never likes but it's the thought that counts...

*ahem*

which did you pick?! sewing or scrapbooking? You are fab at both...what a choice!!!

I'm highjacking for a moment..sorry..Can you let me know if these flops help with the cramping feet problem? I have that sooo bad! I had to stop at Target for 20 mins last week because I just absolutley could NOT take another step. I was in tears!

Also, MissCammie the trampoline was introduced at the last summer Olympics as a sport. USA did braodcast the finals as i remember seeing it on tv. It was sooo cool. You have 10 "jumps" to do as many tricks as you can before your turn is over.
GO USA!:goodvibes

do you have high arches? That must be AWFUL!!!

Where the heck was I with that?! I have no memory of Trampolining...of course I think I've blocked out most of 2004...aka The Year of Incredibly Stupid Choices!

*ahem*

;)

I love watching the Olympics too! I have the opening ceremonies on as well though I like the actual games themselves better than the opening and closing ceremonies. I should be working on finishing my Disney scrapbooks from our last trip but instead I have one eye on the tv and the other on the disboards. Good thoughts being sent for no injuries and good weather for you!

yeah...the lack of alphabetical order is kind of freaking me out with the Parade of Nations...the show earlier was pretty cool...

Bring on the Gymnastics!!!

And the Swimming!!

And Diving!!!

and the other fun stuff!:cheer2:

THANK YOU for the good thoughts!!! Every little thought counts!!:goodvibes

I'm so glad we have MissCammie's PTR!!! It makes me happy that there's another person who is slightly OCD. My husband thinks he's helping pack for our trip next month - it's kinda cute. :rotfl2: Heck, if I knew it would fly I'd probably pack for my brother in law who's going as well.

I do have a quick question - if I can hijack the board for a sec - with the extra magic hours, do people staying at a Disney resort have to get the wristbands? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Back to shoe shopping....All of this talk about sandals and flips has made me determine that I need a new pair.

Yep, you need a wristband for evening EMH. All you have to do is go to where they are giving them out and show them your key to the world, and they give you a wristband.

I have so enjoyed your trip report and now your pre trip report. I hope you find that 10 days is the perfect number because that is what we will be doing on our trip in Sept. Thanks for sharing with us.

Miss Cammie, I just can't wait to read your next trip report! My skids were 6 and 9, Good Texan kids, raised in Houston with great manners, when I became their "Miss Sue". I admire your generous and giving nature and only hope that Disney World is full of Miss Cammie's with their families when I visit in September ... Now THAT would be really magical! Thanks for the reports. I am sleep deprived from reading, but so grateful you took the time to share!

Oh I know it...Jay doesn't realize that I secretly go through his suitcase after he has declared himself "DONE" packing...I make sure he's REALLY done.

:rolleyes1

now of course you know that one ALWAYS needs a new pair of flips. It's a constant state of being.

serioiusly...

it is.

like today...we're power shopping and I NEED me a new pair of flips...somehow it even got on the list...

:confused3

No gymnasts, Did you see any???:confused3

nope, not a one!:sad2: No Michael Phelps either...or Dara Torres...they are all competing today so I'm sure they declined the march to preserve the energy. I don't think the gymnasts have ever been allowed to do the parade of nations b/c their competition always starts first! That must be a bummer for them, having to miss the Parade of Nations. Oh well...Go for the Gold Girls!!! And boys...although with Paul Hamm out of the competition last minute the boys are starting with a bit of a deficit strength wise . I love Morgan, but he's not Paul. It's exciting either way! I was excited to see Li Xiaoshuang carrying the torch in the stadium. Amazing gymnast!

I'm SO excited!!!!:cheer2:
