We are driving straight thru from PA, 18 hours and I just figured we will hit the fort before 10 AM. Hopefully the baby will sleep most of the night but we wont get a full night while driving.
What are our chances of getting a site ASAP as we need to set up and crash for a bit. Thankfully grandparents can take the baby for a bit but we just want to sleep for a few hours. Or would it be wise to get an extra night added to the front end of our ressie and not use it but be able to go to our site ASAP?
I guess we could sleep at the grands hotel for a bit then set up but that would be a pain and not sure if we want that.
Thanks, oh we just have a pop up site but would like one close to the CS for the baby so I would like to drive around and see what is open that they may not have offered us.

Our experience has been that we dont get into our site until 2 or 3 PM. We have also arrived early in the AM because we left early for weather reasons, typically we move to the overflow lot and nap there. Summer would be a different story with the heat.
You may get lucky and get your site right away, my experience would say otherwise.

We've traveled through the night a couple of times. Once we checked in and stopped in the overflow lot. DH climbed into the back of the camper and sleep, while I slept in the truck (this was Dec). It was NOT comfortable at all!
Twice (back when the rates were upper 30 - upper 40's) we added a night to the front. And I specifically told the CM to hold the site even though we wouldn't be checking in until the wee hours of the next morning. DH would crash, and I'd take the kids and go off wandering.

what day of the week is it? If it's a weekday, you'll be fine.

On a Friday during value season you should be ok, but no guarantees.

I normally check in around 10 or 10:30 in October and have always found them to have a site ready by then (maby I'm just lucky). Hopefully you won't have any problems.

Do not waste your time checking the empty sites to find one you like better. There is really no way to find out if they are assigned or not. I have seen folks setting up camp at 11:30 at night.
Got there at 11:00 a.m. in May. It was a Saturday and had no problem getting in. I was worried, but everything went fine.
