Have you downloaded some of the new applications yet? I have got a few of the free ones are they are so fun! My favorite is Shazam! All you have to do is click on it and put it up to any music and it will identify it. It is crazy! I am amazed by it. Apparently the technology has been around forever but it is new to me and I love it!

I like Tomatoes. Even though I'm not a big movie fan, its fun to look up a movie and see what kind of reviews its been getting. Along those lines, another handy one is Showtimes which tells you what's playing at your local theater.

Is 'tomatoes' based on the 'rotten tomatoes' website? I don't have an iPhone, but use the RT site a lot. Just curious, not meaning to hijack. pirate:

My favorite new apps are, Guitar Toolkit, Monkey Ball, Cromag Rally, Tetris & Comic Touch. The free ones I have taken advantage of are Break, Light, AIM, and Facebook.
Vicinity is a great app for vacation and travel and Air Hockey Fingertips is a great two player game to play with your kids while sitting at a restaurant waiting for your food:-)
I hope that a video recorder and cut & paste apps show up soon.:rolleyes1

Weatherbug and Movies are very useful. For fun I play Tetris and Shanghai Mahjong.

I like Pandora Radio and my favorite game so far is MotionX Poker dice. It's fun to roll the dice, and it's an easy game to play when you have a few minutes to kill.
I also like Urbanspoon and Banner Free. Love the App Store!

How could I forget Pandora. I love it and I am very surprised that my battery doesn't drain faster from it.

Is anybody else having trouble with the concept of paying to add these apps?
So far I've only gotten freebies because I'm not willing to pay what they're charging...
There's some I really want though...I just can't bring myself to pay!

I've done freebies myself. DS would love for me to get CroMag Rally and Super Monkey Ball, but I have limited it to AIM, Morocco, PhoneSaber, Box Office, Shazam, Bubble Wrap and Sudoku.
Having fun with all of them.

I have mostly done the free Apps, too. They could really add up if I buy all the ones that I think look good. I was reading about the MotionX Poker game (it's $5), and was debating whether or not to buy it. My husband teased me and told me to go ahead and lay out the big bucks! :rotfl:I am really impressed and think it is better than the free games.
I was reading about the various Mahjong games, and the review said Shanghai Mahjong is the best. It's also $5, so I may have to get it as well. I like Moonlight Mahjong (I just have the free version). I wanted to really go all out ;) and pay $10 for Scrabble, but I've read that it crashes a lot, so I'll wait till they improve it!
I've read great things about Dizzy Bee ($3), too.

The free Moonlight Mahjong Lite is awesome. I am tempted to buy Bejeweled 2 to feed my addiction, but hope the price comes down first.

I was wondering as I read this thread, "I wonder if they're typing their posts from their Phone/Touch?"
So... are ya? :)
yep I am! We only have one computer at the moment and my future wife is always on it doing wedding nonsense LOL

I hope she's not on the computer checking the DIS and finding your post or you'll be in big trouble!

I'm at work using it. Whenever I need a break I play Solitaire or something as I walk through the halls. Unfortunately sometimes I wander for too long (i.e. get too caught up in the game) and next thing I know, it's 30 minutes later! :confused3

I haven't downloaded any of the apps yet...I guess I need to get with the program! ;)

Not me -- I am way too much 'fat fingered' to do much typing on the Touch! I wish someone would invent a stylus that mimics whatever it is your finger activates on the screen, so I could type more....

I love Pandora. Aurora feint is a close 2nd.
Of course I'm posting on the I (named shadow).
Why have a problem with some pay apps? Devs are putting time and effort to making them.
We need to start an iPhone club for DISers!

I just downloaded WritingPad. It's much easier (for me anyway) to type-- you don't lift your finger when you type a word. You drag your finger to each letter. It's a free app, and I am a lot faster on it than the regular keyboard.

I love Shazam and Pandora too. But right now I'm hooked on Enigmo. I'm up to level 31. Another favorite at my house is MLB At Bat, DS 13 checks it all the time.
Other apps I have downloaded, Weatherbug, CroMag Rally, Super Monkey Ball, iMaze, Phone saber, Tap Tap Revenge, Near pics and Checks please.
I can't wait to travel somewhere to use nearpics. It finds where you are and then shows you pics people from that area have uploaded to Panoramio. So you could use it to find interesting things you want to check out while you are in that place.

we can't let this thread die! And if I make another post, I hit 300.
So, I'm inspired to say something else about my iPhone. :)
My boss and I were during a blackout at work this AM. It's amazing how some peeps just dot understand how INCREDIBLE it is to be always connected to the Internet. The just gawk at the cost. $30 a month is very reasonable, in my opinion.
My opinion, the cost to connect will only go down. Mobile access will be as common as internet in homes.
Woohoo! 300

Congrats on your 300th!!
But my internet at home didn't go down in cost. Years ago I used to pay $19.99/month for Earthlink. Now I wont even mention how much my Comcast internet costs!!
If I could use the iPhone as a phone-as-modem, then it would be the perfect device.

at least if the price of internet hasnt gone down the quality and speed has definelty gone up. There are still people paying $30 a month for dial up!
lorax123
07-31-2008, 05:53 AM
really? That much for dial-up?
I thin, for developed countries, our broad band is the most expensive.
