Has anyone flown SWA out of BWI recently? Someone told me the check-in lines were huge at MCO. Just wondering if they were terrible at BWI.

I was at BWI in Feb 2002 and we were first in a long line to get boarding passes. I don't think that it was any longer than any other line SWA boarding pass line. I found the BWI SWA area, or concourse, I think it is called, crowded and dull. I didn't really enjoy it, but it wasn't completely horrid. :)

How early did you get there for your flight? I'm not really concerned about the waiting area, just wanted to know the check-in procedure. I've never flown SWA. My son has but that was before 9/11.

We had a connecting flight from West Palm Beach to Manchester at BWI. We started the line one and a half hours before departure time.
So, I would guess that you should arrive at the airport at least 2 hours in advance because if BWI is your originating airport, you would have to check in and it is likely that you will go through 2 security checks before even getting in line to obtain a boarding pass. It just a "have patience and allow time" issue really. Have fun!! : )

Our flight BWI-MCO was Sat night April 6th. The line was short only 10 people in line before they opened the desk for boarding passes. We left MCO on Weds 4/10 8:00am. The line queued up earlier but we still got #15 and #16. We arrived at both airports almost exactly 2 hours before flight time.
The luggage check in line at BWI on Sat night was non existant. The luggage check in line at MCO was about a 15 minute wait max.
The biggest problem I think is when you return to BWI the baggage claim is at the end of Terminal D and the arriving gates are at Terminal B. Lots of walking.
