Disney is supposed to be strict on keeping their characters the same a trademark they are. I have some disney pictures of eeyore. What are your thoughts? Is eeyore supposed to be grey or blue?

Dude is blue. Admittedly he's a gray shade of blue, but he's got some blue in him, which in my mind rules out gray (which is strictly a combo of black and white).

Hm. Interesting question. I've never noticed that before.

Classic Eeyore is grey - the newer Eeyore is blue.

I see him as blue (greyish blue) -- thought it went with his mood....

In the books, movies, parks (character and WTP ride) and on most park merchandise, he is grey. In the books he is referred to as "the old grey donkey". In the newer Disney incarnations, he was inexplicably turned purple & blue. I still haven't figured that one out, but he's my favorite either way. :thumbsup2

Grey with a blue-ish tint

Aha! That's precisely my point. Once you get a bluish tint, you cease being grey.

He was grey in all of the original movies and shorts. I believe that he's only blue in some (and not even all!) merchandise. Plus, DiznEeyore is right- they always referred to him as an "old grey donkey" in the books. IMO, the movies and books trump some merchandise, so he's grey.

Eeyore is as grey as the gloomy cloud that hangs over him.

He is gray and still one of my favorite characters :eeyore:

The old Eeyore plush we had years ago was definitely grey but a lot of the
new ones are more blue.I knew there was something different
about the new ones but I couldn't put my finger on it.:)

I have to vote grey/blue.

Eeyore is neither blue nor grey. He's blue-grey which makes him unique!

Speaking of Eeyore, check out this guy I found on a bunny rescue site. If I didn't already have two bunnies of my own, I would have adopted him when he was available. Happily, he's found his forever home!

I was going to say blue-gray, but I agree with the longer answer that it depends on which Eeyore, old or new, merchandise or movie.:eeyore:

Used to be grey, but all of the most current Eeyore items I have represent him as a bluish-purple color. Blue and lavender mix.

I see grey. But I have a grey/green color blindness, so I could be seeing him differently.

grey isn't a mixture of just black and white at all. Grey is a color that can have warm tones or cool tones.... Eeyore is a cool-grey donkey IMO

Steely blue? Your right though. Lately they have been shifiting his color, maybe to be more cute to the 3 year olds?

I voted for blue but I do agree that he is a blue-gray, he looks more blue to me in the avatar though. I love :eeyore:

Folks, I first went to WDW in 1971 during the soft opening of the Magic Kingdom. I was a VERY LITTLE kid (but we still have photographs of it, though none scanned) who literally chased down Main Street following Eeyore calling out "Don't Be Sad Eeyore! I love you!". Regardless of what Disney's done to him over the past decade or so, trust me, Eeyore was and is always SUPPOSED to be Grey.

Enjoy the Magic!

That is kind of like how Cinderellas original hair was like an orange color and now it is yellow blonde. Here dress was also not as blue (more of a white)

From what I understand (and I don't remember where I learned this) Eeyore is supposed to be Grey to signify his "cloudy" outlook on life.

~however~

When pooh became more popular with a younger group of children, he was being marketed as blue.
Children have a tendacy to recognize and learn the color blue earlier/faster then they do the color grey. Blue is also a more positive color.

When you see him appear in the parks, he will be grey.
But as for toys... the younger the age the toy is marketed, the more you will see the toys appear in the color blue.

Hope that clears things up a bit...

and now I notice that he is blue or purple

On all the newer disney clothes and accessories he is purple:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Seems Disney can't make up their minds on his color. But everyone seems to love his classic grey. I agree :thumbsup2

I have a drawn Eeyore from Disneyland and the fellow who drew it (the shop at the castle) said he has appeared as both grey and blue, and asked which I would like, or I could have gotten him in a crazy color, like orange.

I've seen the same thing with Bugs Bunny. Sometimes gray, sometimes a bluer type gray, etc.

Like Tigger's nose-- I've seen it pink, red, and black......
