The air conditioning levels have been mentioned many times, so there's clearly something to it, but I can't say I've ever noticed.

For years, we always ate at RFC on AK days because we're not keen on the other options there. Having tried Yak & Yeti in January, we'll probably be opting for that for the foreseeable future - not because it's better, but simply because it makes a change.

The portions at RFC are huge and it would be entirely possible to share entrees. It has always struck me as a bit on the expensive side compared with similar eateries. It doesn't necessarily seem that way when you look at the menu, but I guess a dollar here and there makes a difference to the final bill.

We've only eaten at the DTD location once (back in 2000). It's much busier than the AK one (we're talking long waits) and so, all things being equal, I'd recommend the AK one. As I've already said, it's the standout amongst poor competition there, IMHO, but there are plenty of other options at DTD. All that said, I'd go for whichever fits your itinerary best. Once you're inside, you could be forgiven for losing your bearings completely - they're virtually identical.

We love it, we took our friends and they loved it also, we went at 12 for a sort of brunch, we were starving and had no breakfast, there was also no wait, I will try and find some picys, it really is good, you have to go!

Meant to add that the AK location is more of a lunch/early dinner place due to the park closing times, whereas the DTD one is a popular dinner option and that's when it gets really mobbed.

I love the Rainforest cafe but prefer the AK restaurant as it's less busy than DTD. The pot roast is absolutely fantastic and yes it is a little pricey to eat in but the atmosphere inside and the kids faces when the volcano's erupt etc make it well worth the money.:)

Hello

Rainforest cafe is a must for us every trip, even if we do a short break to DLRP and we are planning a trip to the London one in these summer holidays.

The food is great - big portions! great varied choice and the service for us has always been fast.

Evening meals are when we usually visit, not tried a lunch there.

We have tried both at different tims. DTD is great for the evenings, get there early reserve a table and then wander until your table is ready. AK is great for breakfast, my wife recommends the omelettes!
Overall, well worth visiting both.

We ate at the DTD and were given the option of waiting 90 minutes to sit inside or have an outside table immediately. We chose to sit outside on the covered verandah. There were ceiling fans so we didn't get too hot and we had a lovely waterside view of the boats coming and going from Port Orleans.

We'd eaten at the London one before so didn't mind missing the decor and the fake thunder storms. It really was the nicest meal, both in food and setting that we had at WDW.

We always eat at the RFC on our AK days due to me being a fussy eater and not liking any of the other options at AK. We have also eaten at the DTD one as we love the food and atmosphere at both....I don't recall not liking a meal there ever. Go to either one that suits you, they are both great. Just be prepared and book a table or you'll more than likely have a bit of a wait. :thumbsup2

thanxs for all you replies and the food does look great, we will not be making any adrs as do not know when we will want to do it, we have decided we will probably do it when we do disney quest, so it would possible to make adr on the day and then go and do disney quest and come back later :flower3:

We ate at the AK one on our first trip and at the DTD one departure day :sad2: last trip. Our food was fabulous at both ~ I'm still drooling over the lovely crab cakes I had!

Unless they've changed things since we went, you can't make ADRs at the DTD one ~ however they gave us the usual bleeper and estimated how long we'd have to wait so we were able to go and do some shopping.

I hate to be the lone voice of disagreement, but I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a blunt fork that eat at that place again. (Ok that's just a touch overstated but you get the idea).
My experience can be boiled down to:

Sub standard food,
Surly, unatentive servers,
and a gorrilla screaming in my ear every two minutes.

I ended up getting a full refund and an appology.

Unlike some other non-Disney owned restaurants at WDW, it's always been necessary to make reservations directly with RFC for the DTD location. At one time, you could only call a maximum of 7 days in advance, but now it's possible up to 180 days ahead. The number to dial is (001) 407 827 8500. The AK location is bookable through the usual Disney Dining number.
