We stayed there a few years ago and really enjoyed it - will definately stay again once DD is a bit older and will appreciate US/IOA a bit more. We didn't stay Club but I am sure that is even better.
Wicket2005 has been staying there over the last 2 weeks and has been doing a daily trip report - check them out (It's nice to share) and you will see the benefits of staying there.
I think she gets back home today/tomorrow so she will be able to give you the full lowdown.

Hi, we stayed at the HRH last year for 2 nights and are staying there again for 3 nights after our AKL stay.
I think it's a great hotel, it's fantastic being able to walk to the parks and the express pass that's included with your room key is worth the cost of the stay all by itself. I honestly can't imagine going to universal without staying on site now.
We stayed club level and really liked it. Breakfast was mainly bagels, fruit, cereal and pastries, with evening offerings of 2-3 hot dishes, then raw veggies, dips and stuff. They were generous with the wine and beer as well and always had bottles of water and soft drinks out.

Hi - yes you're right we did rather like it!!:rotfl2:
We didn't do CL this time, and i'm still toying with doing it on our next trip - but may not be worth it for us as we plan to have breakfast SEVERAL;) times at The Kitchen - all I can say is WOW!! - the best buffet breakfast ever!!:thumbsup2
Staying on site at UO is soo worth it - the FOTL access to the rides is fabulous and as someone else has said - the easy walk/river boat to the parks is so relaxing!:cloud9: Even though we were only there 3 nights (the first night we arrived from the UK, spent 2 days at the parks & then left to go to DCL) it was the most relaxing part of our holiday and I would probably say the most enjoyable. :lovestruc
UO is so compact and makes it so easy to get around - infact on the UO board I've heard of people who take 'park breaks' from the pool - and just pop over for 1 or 2 rides & then back to the pool!! - thats how convenient it is!!:lmao:
Combine that with the excellent restaurants at the hotels and City walk - it really is (or will be!!;) ) my perfect end to a holiday!! :cloud9:
Have I convinced you yet??!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

We are just back, but our stay was at RPR, for the 3rd year running. All 3 resorts are excellent, and i would not do US or IOA without FOTL. if travelling in the summer months and only staying a couple of nights, my advice is to avoid staying at weekends i.e Fri & Sat nights as the 3 resorts get crowded as floridans get special rates, and over the 3 times we have been, we even avoid the parks on these days.

We've stayed twice at all three Universal hotels. These days it's all about being onsite for FOTL and CityWalk for us, so our next stay in November will be our third at RPR, simply because it's the cheapest. Club at HRH isn't quite up to the standard of Concierge at WDW resorts, IMHO, but there's nothing wrong with it, either. The hotel itself is fabulous, though.

I did not mind that they allowed pets, I can smell stuff also and did not smell any pets, the place was spotless, in fact I made frineds with a cool pug called parker. I think if I could smell pets in my room I would have asked for another if that was the case.

Just returned from a 14 night stay at the Hard Rock this morning at 7.25 and at Pooh has said I have been doing a live as it could be trip report during my stay.
I will be posting some photos and am happy to answer any questions you may have, if I can answer them.
Our stay in the hotel was fantastic and we all loved it, our kids are 17 and 19 and they prefer the Universal parks to the Disney ones. We had two adjoining rooms with two beds in each room with a garden view.
I cannot compare the hotel to the Disney ones but I dont think Disney have any themed as a Rock Hotel. It is supposed to be like staying in a rock star's mansion with cool music playing all round the place. All the staff were extremely friendly asking if you were having a good time or simply saying hello.
The only problem we had was the first night because we were in a room on level 3 which is the same floor as the lobby and only slightly up from the entrance. All night you could hear the music from the lobby and also people entering our floor level to access their rooms. The corridors on each floor branch out from the first one so there was a considerable amount of people traffic. We knew we needed a good nights sleep so at 6 am on the first day we went to the reception desk and explained the problem. They were must apologetic and said they would move us. When we came back after a day out at Universal we were moved to another couple of rooms 2 floors up. From then on we didnt have any problems with noise and slept very comfortably.
The fotl access in July was fantastic which meant for the vast majority of times we were straight on the rides or with a minimum wait. The fact that the hotel is only 5 minutes walk away from Universal made the stay even more convenient. It was very easy to pop back to the hotel or pop to one of the parks.
The swimming pool was one of the coolest pools I have ever been in. Loads of people were just sitting in the pool enjoying the music. It just had such a good atmosphere.
We have stayed at the RPR and Hard Rock now and Hard Rock is our favourite out of the two. I would strongly urge you to try it, besides from just being a fantastic hotel the fotl access is priceless. We love staying onsite at Universal and are back at the RPR next year and fully intend to go back to the Hard Rock in 2010. The good thing is that you have access to all the pools and hotels if you are staying at one of the hotels, so will definitely be nipping to the Hard Rock pool next year.
What we tended to do was to do Disney or Sea World in the morning, back to the pool for a cool down, then into one of the Universal parks in an evening.
It is just starting to hit home we are back now for another yet, I feel a depression coming on. Hate the end of the holidays but have always said that is a good sign that you have enjoyed your holiday.
Please do not miss out, even if it is just for a night, give it a try.:goodvibes

We stayed at HR for 3 nights in May, as one of 4 hotels we stayed at for our 3 week trip, the other 3 were all Disney. We found it to be a very different experience from the Disney hotels. Perhaps a bit more 'adult' although there were loads of kids staying there. The pool area gets very busy, at the weekend they seem to let locals in who seem to spend quite alot in the bars & restaurants which the hotel seems to encourage, (You can just imagine a hotel in England doing this NOT). Great location, but very urban feel after say the wonderful great landscaping at Wilderness Lodge. Worth staying at for the experience & on site Universal advantages, but 3 days was more than enough for us. PS If you do stay on site at Universal you MUST book a reservation at Emerils Touchop this was by far our BEST meal in entire 3 week holiday.

Agree with everyone else. HRH was fabulous, kids loved it as more than the Poly. Great atmosphere, staff very friendly much better than Poly, pool area is also great. We stayed club and cannot fault it.

Hi
We stayed at HRH last summer, split stay, after staying at AKL the year before. Did HRH for 3 nights, Poly for 3 nights and Beach Club for 2 nights.
Our kids LOVED HRH more than Poly or Beach Club - the pool is fab. I enjoyed the relaxed feel of the place and sitting slurping a cocktail at the beach bar watching the kids in the pool! It's such a cool place!
We had a fab view of IofA and used to watch the Hulk ride starting up.
Would def. recommend it. We're trying Portofino this year to see how that compares.

We just returned from a 4-night stay on club level. We've stayed at the hotel before, but this was our first time experiencing club. The club services don't compare with those at WDW (in my opinion), but the lounge offerings were nice and the service was good. The lounge is a bit too small to cope with the number of rooms on the club level, but they permit you to take the food and beverages back to your room so it was never too much of an issue. The one thing about this hotel that I dislike is the lack of balconies - we love sitting out on the patio/balcony at other hotels, so it's always a bit disappointing when we stay here. The pool is fantastic - I was told it was voted the best hotel pool in Orlando - and the hotel is in the best location of all three, in my opinion. You're just minutes from both the parks and CityWalk. We've never stayed at RPR, but out of PBH and HRH, HRH wins hands-down.
