Hello fellow Canadians,
I have been all over the boards that it is a good thing to take your own glow sticks to the parks and how you can buy them at the dollar store. I could never find them at my local dollars stores. I did find them yesterday at Michaels. :yay: :woohoo: They had loads of them in a bin at the front of the store. There are 15 bracelets and 15 connectors in a tube, and they were $1.50.
I thought I would let everyone know in case you can't find any for your next trip.

That's the same ones we get every time! My boys take a couple for themselves from the tube & than give the rest out to the kids around us. A cheap way to spread the magic! :wizard:

I grabbed a couple of tubes and did so last year too from Michael's. My kids share them with others on the bus. It's a great way to meet other people and it keeps tired and grumpy kids on the way home from a long day at the parks a little happier.

Be careful with the Michael's glow sticks. I live down the street from them, and a while back bought a pile when they were on sale. I had consistant problems with them leaking, and the casing breaking, and spilling glass and the fluid that's in them everywhere. I had to throw out all that I had as I was having so many problems with them. It's something to be aware of when using them. This was not just one glowstick in a tube, it was more like 4 or 5 that I had problems with per package:scared1: . So it's something to keep in mind when using them. My kids were not playing rough with them, and I still had problems. Just to make you aware of the problems that I've had with them. Have a great day!!:flower3:

Hi Cheryl,
You meant $1.50 per bracelet or the whole tub of 15? Thanks

Sorry to hear that happened to you but I still stand behind them.
I am on Parent Council at my son's school & for the last three years we have purchased 600 of these to sell at the year end. *Occasionally* we might have a child come back to get a new one as theirs has broken...maybe a 1/2 dozen times in three years, & usually through repeated bending.
They are an amazing deal, especailly as you use them for a few hours in a park at night for fireworks or such & than throw them away. Kids need to *crunch* them up & put them on their wrists or make necklaces out of them with the connectors & than leave them alone.

Yup, $1.50 for 15....in a black tube usually in Michaels $1 section. They've carried them for awhile now, at least in their Ottawa store, so they should be easy to find.

No, the ones I'm talking about (pretty sure OP too!) are not made of glass...not even sure how a glow stick could be made of glass!! :confused3 If you bent it to glow...it would break! LOL!

I've bought the Michael's ones several times now and they've flown back and forth from Disney with me with no problems. I've also kept a package for 18 months and they still were fine (maybe one didn't glow very brightly). I intend to get some more for our upcoming trip.

I was shopping at Canadian Tire for camping supplies a few days ago and saw glow sticks in their camping section. They come in packs of regular size and mini ones.

Today at one of our local $ stores - I found Mickey ear glo sticks/head bands. I bought one for each of the kids. They came in several different colours.

On another thread, someone was asking if these are safe to take on the plane. Anyone know? Last thing I want is for something to happen to my aircraft due to glow sticks that I am carrying.

We get ours at michaels too. About $1.50 for 10 in the tube. the girls spread the magic quite nicely during the MK parade and wishes. All the kids around us thought it was great that the girls would share with them.
Party Packagers has the really long ones. I think they are $1.00 for 1
