Can't wait we leave for Hawaii (Big Island) next week. First stay at the Mauna Lani Resort and Spa!!!!

Sigh ... just got back late last night from Waikoloa. I walked along the King's Highway (the narrow foot trail across the lava beds) up to the Mauna Lani and its fishponds twice. Lovely area ... and the walk back to Waikoloa on the Fisherman's trail (coastline access) is breathtaking.

The market at Waikoloa Village (Village -- not Waikoloa Beach Resort) is full service -- with reasonable prices. Do make it down to the very south end of the island to watch the lava flow. Plan to arrive no later than 5:15p for a good parking space; bring a flashlight, umbrella and good walking shoes; stay through sunset to really see the action.
