Nightlife post PI

Going to WDW for the last leg of our honeymoon in Nov and was wondering what couples are planning to do for late night entertainment and drinks once PI is gone in Sept?? I know boardwalk would be an option, but what else to do b/w 11pm-1 or 2am??

I am working with a local nightclub owner about his club playing Mannequins-style dance music on Saturday nights. That's still in the works and can't be announced at this juncture. I can tell you that Disney is going to lose HUGE amounts of evening business because of the closure of PI. Nothing else on Disney property can handle the volumes of people PI currently does. And Boardwalk is boring as hell. Thus, most people will switch to Universal's City Walk which has multiple clubs and an all-club pass. Others will migrate to downtown Orlando where there are also dozens of night clubs. In the meanwhile, please sign the SAVE PI petition:

I agree! I have signed a couple other petitions and will be signing yours as well! I guess Jellyrolls will be the only location on property for some late night fun.

There's also Rix, a nightclub in Coronado Springs. Have yet to go, so can't offer an opinion. And Raglan Road will remain open. So will Bongos and House of Blues, but not sure either is open late.

I will also suggest House of Blues and Raglan Road, their about the best you can get with Disney transportation. Otherwise go with City Walk.

I still cannot believe they are closing the Comedy Club & the Adventurers Club, those were DH & my favorites!:sad1:

I don't believe HOB is open each night, not withstanding the restaurant which is. I know they have Service Industry Night each Sunday night with techno DJ's such as Magic Mike or Jimmy Joslin. Any business card or pay stub which shows you "service" customers will get you in free. Otherwise it's a concert hall with ticketed events (similar to Hard Rock Live) and thus not always open.

Raglan Road is Irish music. It can be fun but it's not 8TRAX or Motion!
Jelly Rolls is hilarious and fun, but it's comedy and singing, not dancing.

I need to check out Rix and see what they're playing and see if anyone is there.

I know you're right about Sundays at HoB, but I think at least Friday/Saturday, the "Blues Kitchen" is also open--not the main concert venue, but smaller acts play here (e.g. Hundu Cowboys, "The Sauce Boss"), for free or maybe a $5 cover, it's been a while since I went. Fairly certain it's not open on weeknights, but not 100% on that.

Realistically, tho, I think you're going to be spending a lot more time at CityWalk come October. (I still signed the PI petition, BTW, just in case--I'll miss 8Traxx, too.)

I'm afraid that's true, but if this club owner I've been talking to comes through, there will be a viable alternative to CityWalk for Dance music fans.

Checked out Rix Lounge last night and I don't see it as a viable alternative to any of the clubs out at Pleasure Island. Rix can't make up its mind whether it's a sports bar or a place to go dancing.

There are television monitors all over the place showing the same sports-related activity. I imagine during the football season there will be a variety of games being shown. OK. But then at the far end is the DJ booth and a small dance floor. Sorry, but IMO sports and dancing don't mix. The televisions are way too distracting.

I think Rix is destined to remain just a nice hotel bar.

Wow, sounds entirely different from how it was originally advertised "ultra-lounge"/dance club. Can't really see a sports bar with a dress code. Sounds like it's being adjusted to fit the market.

On Friday night around 11pm there was no cover charge. There was also only around 8-9 people in the entire place.

On our last two vacations to Disney, my boyfriend and I have gone to the Atlantic Dance Hall. Even though it's generally empty, we've always had a lot of fun there. The DJs take requests and there is a lot of room for dancing (or maybe the emptiness made it feel this way!). We always thought that it would be a great place if more people came out. Maybe they will start marketing it in a different way? Or at all?

We really only went there because we didn't want to pay the cover at Jellyrolls, then ended up having a great time. Although maybe the charm of it was it's emptiness. It felt like our own dance hall!

Other than the location, I just don't see what's Disney about it. Disney is known for it's attention to detail and elaborate atmosphere, two things that the Atlantic Dance hall does not have. It just seems to be another normal night club.

What do you think they could turn it into that would attract a crowd?

Rix just doesn't seem like a good option to me. It's at Coronado, and therefore will likely spend a lot of time empty. I just can't see it as the new "place to be." Good comments also about it not being able to make up its mind... a nightclub with multiple personalities is destined for a mediocre showing.

Jellyrolls continues to be great, but the last few times I was in there it was competely empty...even at 11pm! Maybe it's busier now that every night is cast member night? is that still the case?

I for one am all for turning Atlantic Dance Hall into the new Adventurer's Club! We are going to have to start a group for those of us going through AC withdrawals! " Hi, my name is ____ and I am an AC addict."

I am going to go over to CW and check it out. My friends swear by the new Rising Star bar over there. So I will give it a chance...won't be the same though.:sad1:
