As reported yesterday on WDW News Today it looks like in 2011 DHS will get new attractions.

Since these supposed new additions have not been officially announced by Disney, I've moved this thread to the Rumors and News board. :)

OMG that would be so awesome. I have always said that Disney should make a ride that had something to do with the doors flying around. Can't wait to try that ride out...hopefully it doesn't go to the back burner or something. My family has never been a huge supporter of DHS, except for ToT and RnRC of course, but with the addition of TSM and hopefully some more Pixar related attractions, I can see all of us spending more time at that park.

What was the last memorable character that Disney has had that they have not used?
We get the Chronicles of Narnia "experience". :rotfl:
Pirates? Check, movies were based on the ride.
The Santa Clause? Don't know what you would do there.
Emporer's New Groove? Ehh.. Don't know what you would do, but I have seen the characters, I believe.
Herbie has been highlighted in the stunt show.
Milan is available I guess if you wanted an Asian themed ride somewhere. However, they have used Mushu/Eddie in the stripped down animation tour.
Treasure Planet was a bomb.
They are already milking Lilo and Stich.
Inspector Gadget?? Could come up with something winnie the pooh like I guess.
Hercules had a show on the ships for a while, don't know if they are still doing it.
Lion King show, check.
Alladin ride, check. Plus, they show up in fantasmic, which does revolve around Mickey and Donald.
Honey I blew up the sequel, check.
Beauty and the Beast show, check.
Little mermaid show, check. Plus, she does show up in fantasmic.
Pixar is Disney now. Not sure if there is a point to making the seperation at this time. Now, if they start releasing bad movies after the purchase, we will know that Disney management is able to kill the golden goose.

I think they should revamp Country Bears and include characters from Brother Bear there, like they did with Iago and Zazu in the Tiki Room.
To all those fans of the original Tiki Room and those that would oppose a change to Country Bears, I'm sorry - but things have to adapt especially when new charactes arrive.

For crying out loud!! - I don't think we really need to pick on people's typos. Anybody with a brain that knows anything about Disney would easly understand it is Mulan.

Given the biggest Disney Shareholder started the company and the head of Imagineering was a big part of the success of Pixar, it wouldn't surprise me.

I would love for Pixar to get all the focus on a single park instead of Pixar being at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Buzz was ok to put in, but if they put Cars in Tomorrowland I will scream. What do simple talking cars have to do with the future or space? Nothing. What do monsters have to do with the future or space? Nothing. Do they really fit in there? No.
If DHS takes all the Pixar rides and attractions from now on I will be forever greatfull. Also it would help DHS with the lack of overall great theaming.
Btw, for me personally shows dont cut it. They are a cheaper way to add something to do during your trip. The Beauty and the Beast sow should taken out and have a new show replace it for 2-3 years then replace that one then bring BatB Show back. It would always be somewhat new. Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book would be a great cycle of shows over 10 years. (I didnt list The Little Mermaid because DLR is getting a dark ride in 2011-2012)
Also where is a Cinderella attraction? Or Sleeping Beauty, Fantasia, The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, Mulan, Tarzan, or even Pinocchio in WDW. So many movies have not been PROPERLY used. Sure we have the Castle, but you take a quick walk through it and your done. BatB has a show, but what about the tiki room type show that was in the works? There are so many things to do instead of Pixar movies.

Well, as an Adult with no kids that goes to WDW many times, I would imagine that they are targeting kids who are watching the new movies. I would imagine that most kids are going to want to go on a "The Incredibles" ride vs. Sleeping Beauty. Heck, think if they did something like the SpiderMan ride with The Incredibles.
Regardless, I have never understood what little neutered gocarts have to do with the future anyways. I wouldn't mind seeing them update that with more cartoony looking cars. It would really be nice if they made them electric cars. Looks like King's Island has even upgraded their track ride, now called Nick Jr. Drivers, that I rode as a kid.
But, I think that tomorrowland suffers from some of the same issues that Epcot does. The home of the future is out of date by the time they build it. PS2 video games, really?
There is a problem with predicting the future. Either it comes true, which means it is not the future anymore. Or it is suplanted by something else, which means it was probably impractical. I have not seen the takeover of the world of monorails. Was the TTA ever seriously considered as a means of transportation?

Yes, Disney attempted to market it and even sold a system based on WDW's technology to (then) brand new Houston Intercontinental Airport. But Disney's management was not really interested in the "real world" and it fizzled and opponents would always label any mass transit proposal as an "amusement park" ride.
Of course People Movers are in hundreds of airports across the globe now. With a little more imagination, they could have been Disney's.

To be quite honest, when the naming rights for MGM were up, I was shocked when they didn't name it Pixar Studios or something to that effect. I wouldn't be opposed. Not quite sure I like the way Disney's Hollywood Studios sounds. Maybe it's because I've called it Disney's MGM Studios since it's inception (or when I could first talk...whichever came first!)

I have not been able to go into the Tiki Room since they changed it. The screaming birds are just too much for me.
Perhaps because I was raised with the original concept I am one of those who like Walt's classics.
I still look for the Wamba Wanda when I ride the Jungle Cruise (Mom's name is Wanda).

Agai, with the focus on movies and in this case, Pixar films, they will be very careful in their spending... They will only build attractions based on films with lasting power... Toy Story, great example, Cars, another one... For something like Monsters, Inc., eh... Is there lasting power in the story?
This portion of the park is where the magic that used to be Disney can be resurrected... Will they choose to go a 'cheap' off the shelf route or will they go cutting edge to try and combat NBC Universal?

I know what you are trying to say......Sorry...but to base an idea of updating the Country Bears while quoting the DISMAL Under New Management Tiki Room is not likely to score this many points! :(
Additional characters when added tastefully and without wrecking the original attraction in the process isnt always bad....but Iago & Zazu were added in a fashion that severely destroyed the orignal show... having these characters "Add" a few lines or whatever to the show is a good addition.... to have the show change from what you love to something that makes you cry to watch is just plain "unfortunate".
Sooooooo adding the additional characters to an attraction such as The Country Bears is not absolutely a bad thing and it helps tie the attraction in a bit with the marketing and business end (of which I can understand to a point of course)...BUT Adding characters to enhance an existing show is GOOD while Adding characters to dramaticly alter the show is a BAD thing. This is my opinion, shoot me if you wish, but I prefer the Disneyland Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room in ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY....and hope and pray the recent rumor of a possible return of this show to WDW ORLANDO for the 40th MK anniv is true! As for Iago and ZaZu...shrink them to the size of the other birds, add a couple lines (a compromise I suppose and a couple lines would be TWO lol not 100!) and let them "join" Jose's Show :)

Interesting article, for sure!
Did you guys catch the part about retheming the "Honey I shrunk the kids" playset into A Bug's Life? I guess that would be cool. Why not change it up?

I agree. Today's younger movie viewers have absolutely no clue about HIStK. That's why the lines for HIStA at DL are non-existant. They just see a fun larger than life play area. At least Bug's Life is played on Starz and TV every once in a while.

Perhaps because I was raised with the original concept I am one of those who like Walt's classics.
I have always been amazed at the difference of attitude toward the classic Tiki Room show between DL guests and WDW guests. I really think it has to do with the main difference between the two parks - guests at DL are locals and traditionalist and those at WDW are tourists trying to see it all.
When I started going to WDW as an adult in 1989, I was amazed at how many folks would enter the TR and get up and leave in the middle of the show - they still do, too. If you tell folks about this at DL, they are shocked - absolutely gobsmacked that people would do that! Every Tiki Room show at DL is at least 3/4 full and no one walks out unless it's a crying child or a potty emergency (which doesn't happen since the show has it's own potty).
At first, I thought it was a Midwest/East Coast/American cultural thing - folks tend to walk out early because that's how a lot of the "me generation" was raised by their parents. It was a habit that had become begrudgingly acceptable. When I thought about it again and heard some comments, I realized that they did this because of percieved time value and not because of any other reason. It came down to spending time sitting and watching something a little more old fashioned, or running to try the next big attraction. The "ooh shiny" phenomenon. "By god, we are getting our money's worth and we don't think it is worth it, so we'll get that dollar back somewhere else."
Disney thought that would change by incorporating more popular characters and it fixed the problem for a while. Now, I still see folks getting up and leaving, so obviously, that didn't work, either. I think most of the show's problem was in it's intro. The pre-show area in WDW is so much different than DLs, and really lost some of the ability to explain. Maybe if they gave it the same treatment they gave CoP - showing the historical background, it would help.

We walked out of the Tiki room a few years because our kids went NUTS when it got dark and loud.

In all honesty, it took all of my willpower not to leave the Tiki Room in the middle of the show. There is very little about WDW that I don't love but when we walked out of there (at the end because that is just the way it should be), we all just kind of looked at each other and were seriously disappointed.
My first trip was in 2006 so I never saw the original and have nothing to compare it to but it was truly the most awful show I have ever been to in any amusement/theme park. :sad2:
Back to the original topic of this thread ;) ~ I would certainly like to see more of the classics and "traditional" Disney brought into play throughout the parks but the reality at this point in time is that Pixar is a part of Disney and will continue to be so for at least the foreseeable future. That being said, I think giving DHS the majority of Pixar related attractions is a great idea because as a PP stated, DHS is in serious need of some sort of theming that will get people's attention.
It is the one park that I have to convince my family to go back to because nobody was impressed (except me). When we got back from both trips, I had people asking if we bothered with MGM and my reply was that of course we did but most people I talked to said they would skip it on their next trip because except for ToT and RnR, it wasn't worth the effort.
Since it looks like Pixar is going to be in the picture, let's just hope that the powers that be use it wisely!

We are the same way. DHS is the only park that we don't mind only doing 1/2 day because my DH and DD7 both love the ToT and RnRC and has to ride them at least once while at the world, but if it wasn't for those 2 rides, we probably would skip it. However, now that TSM is there and they got the green light for the Monsters Inc. ride, we probably will be spending more time in that park...my kids love all Pixar movies, so I know they will want to stay due to that.
