Jason Garcia is hard at work again. Here is the story for those who would rather see it here...

Looks like there will be at least one take-out restaurant inside the Bay Lake Tower, which is the new Disney Vacation Club resort Disney is building next to its iconic Contemporary Resort.

State regulators recently awarded Disney a food-service license for the restaurant, under the working name of "Bay Lake Tower Finish Kitchen." According to the license application, the restaurant will be a non-seating, take-out only eatery, it will be 693 square feet with one restroom each for men and women, and it will have a maximum number of three staffers working per shift.

Perhaps the most tantalizing detail of all: The projected completion date is Sept. 1, 2009.

"Completion Date" does not necessarily mean "Serving Food" date. I could be wrong, but I believe that date is an "estimation" and has more to do with "occupancy" allowance. In other words, Disney employees can begin to "move in" the items needed to have a restaurant/food service that are not directly connected to the space (think coolers, cash registers, tables, etc.).

But the final countdown is on!!!!!!!

September '09 is almost 14 months away.

SSR began selling about 9 months before it opened, and that was mostly out of necessity as DVC had run out of points elsewhere. AKV began selling 5 months before the villas opened, and that's more consistent with past practices.

SSR is sold out according to my guide.

We just returned from the World and at the rate BLT is being built it should be finished by Sept 1, 2009.

inside can take longer than outside - depends upon how much junk the interior designers decide to use.

i know horrible to thing to say...

this is not home makeover.

just remember AKV - never though we would even see those models...

Was it really only around 9 months??? Guess it just seemed longer.

I think I am more surprised by the "maximum of 3" statement. I keep thinking by comparison, the food side of the Food & Fun Center was not that big at all & you would have 2 cashiers & at least 2 people working the grill not to mention any people bussing tables. Guess it's just me.

It's still great to have something to look forward to! Can't wait to see what TPTB have come up with.

Perhaps this news, along with the name of the rooftop lounge, "Top Of The World" off the liquor license application, we'll be hearing of an application for the grocery. Seems like a DVC to me...LOL.

"Top of the World" was the first thing that me and DH did at Disney on our Honeymoon. Disney has been taunting me with the BLT, but I guess they've finally done it! I have to call my guide now. (Sigh)

Only if they are smart enough to realize that a home-grown tasting T is the most important ingredient! :yay: (And I know for a fact there are farmer's markets in Fla that have real tomato's year round)
Every other restaurant thinks the B is most special :confused3 when really the T rules!!!
