View Full Version : Pet Swap - **Progress Thread** Mailed 9/13

This is a swap for general pet themed items. Each swapper will create 2 elements from the list below per spot. Here is a link to last years' Pet Swap hosted by KatDisney - 2007 Pet Swap (http://good-times.webshots.com/album/558143120xrVvRp?track_pagetag=/page/photo/goodtimes/friendsfun&track_action=/MediaInfo/AlbumTitle).
You are limited to signing up for 2 groups total if I have never swapped with you before. Otherwise, you may sign up for one spot in each category type on your first round of sign-ups. Once everyone has a chance to sign up for their chosen spots, I will open the remaining spots.
Important Dates:
Sign-ups close: 7/28/08
Mail Date: 8/25/08
Due Date: 9/2/08
Check-in Dates:
7/28
8/11
8/25 - Mail by date
9/2 - Due date
NOTE: I will ask you to check in every 2 weeks (by posting a check-in by date in the thread title). If you miss a check-in, I will PM you. If I haven't heard from you in 3 days, I will angel your spots. It is your responsibility to let me know beforehand if you will be gone for a check-in.
Packing and Labeling Instructions: Package your items individually in Ziploc bags and place all of your bags for each group in it’s own, gallon size Ziploc bag. Please don't use anything smaller than a gallon bag as your return pieces might be larger than those you send. Please be sure to package each group separately. Include your name, DIS name and group number on each larger bag.
Mailing Instructions: Write your DIS name and the name of the swap on the outside of your mailing container. If you are in 4 or more groups, please send $9.80 in cash/check for a flat rate box. If you are in 3 or fewer groups, send $4.85 in your choice of method (cash/check/stamp) for a flat rate envelope. If you want delivery confirmation, don't forget to send in the extra money for that as well as a completed DC slip. If you send cash, DC is free since I print labels online.
Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these.
Contact Info: PM me with your name, address, email address and phone number if you haven’t swapped with me before. I will only use the latter two in case of emergency but I MUST have a way to reach you outside of the boards. I will PM my contact info to everyone after the swap closes. If you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know ASAP so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help as needed.
Last but not least, HAVE FUN! I know we all stress about our work and that is OK. The important thing to remember is that you just need to make something you would be proud to have in your own albums and everyone will love it. If you get stumped or have a question, anyone on here would be happy to help; all you have to do is ask.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Shauna, could you add me to general dog please. We have a Dachshund named Padfoor who thinks he's part human whose nose would be out of joint if we didint do something for him!:goodvibes
Arizona Rita - Got ya down! I assumed it was Padfoot and thought it was a cute name!
Disney_rider - I added you to Dog and Cat per your first request. Check out my PM for more info and let me know if you want me to change anything.
Susie - Since Disney_rider had requested the Dog and Cat groups before you, I created a new Dog group and put you there.
Tinkerbean - I went ahead and added you to the second Dog group as well as I don't think we are going to have a rush for the rest of the swap. Plus, I need more stuff too for my new baby!
Bumping to see if there is any more interest. The stuff from this swap was super cute last time and there is even more darling paper out now. We'd love to have any newbies or oldies (hey! I resemble that remark) so join on in if you'd like to!
Hi Shauna,
I'm all done (I know I can't believe it either but only one group is easy!)
I did a poem/lyric and then a sort of topper/sort of paper piecing so I threw in a little extra piece to go with it to make sure it was really 2 full elements. I can send you a pic if you'd like.
I'll get it out this week hopefully.
Hey Tinkerbean! I also wanted a second cat group, but it doesn't look like there was even enough people to fill our first group. So I was thinking that if you wanted to do a person-to-person swap, I can make 2 additional elements for you, and you can make 2 for me. That way we can get a couple more items. Whatcha think?
Any other people in the Cat group interested?
Also, does anyone know what elements/items they are making for the Cat group? Just so there isn't duplication (in case you are using Cricut carts to make your stuff), I can make something else for variety. Thanks!
I would be interested in a 2nd group too. I will be using my to cut basic shapes like tags and letters if needed but my main elements won't be cricut. I have bought the stuff and have enough for two groups. I don't know what my elements are yet. I start school again soon so I have been getting ready for that and CKC- Charolette. I will start these soon.
Sorry I've been MIA. My anthro. professor sprung an observation paper on us last Thursday that was due yesterday. I spent all weekend observing lemus and chimps, researching and then writing a 2,500 word paper. There has been NO TIME for computer stuff!
Anyway, I'm working on updating. I'll do some shifting to fill both dog groups, figure out the cat group thing, add our newbies and try not to be all :scared1: that Maria is done.
I'm sorry to say that we will be dropping both of the "Other" groups since there wasn't enough interest.
I have added you to both. You don't have to tell me what elements you will be making unless you just want to share!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mischief Managed, Tinkerbean, and Tigger1221 - The first cat group filled so I added all three of you to a second cat group and I took the fourth spot. Group 1 has 6 and Group 2 has 4. Hopefully that works for y'all.
I'm sending PMs with my addy now. If you are swapping with me for the first time, please be sure to send me your name, address, phone number and an email address so that I have alternative ways to contact you outside of the boards.
Please post to confirm that you have read through all of the changes and are good to go. This will act as the July 28 check-in.

Bagged, tagged and ready to go, too!
But I have a question! Do we need to send a priority envelope with our package or since they are free do hostesses usually provide return envelopes?
Also, since there are just 6 in this group do you still want them in a gallon sized envelope. They are all in quart baggies.
Thanks!

I'm not the hostess, but I think I can help you out. You do not need to send a priority mail envelope. The hostess will provide that.
You should, however, put all your groups (all your quart sized baggies), into a gallon-sized bag. Your groups may fit into a smaller bag, but other people might have larger items (larger bags) and everything you are getting back may not fit into the bag you provided if it is smaller. It makes it easier for the hostess to be dealing with gallon bags for everyone.
HTH!

Also, since there are just 6 in this group do you still want them in a gallon sized envelope. They are all in quart baggies.
Thanks!
What NEE said! The gallon bag is helpful because not everyone makes the same stuff so not everything will fit in the quart bags. Also, double bagging helps protect from rain.
Thanks for your question about envelopes, also. That reminds me that I have to order some more!
HTH!

Thought I was finished. I came back to read info ....OOPS - it is 2 elements.
I need to make a 1/2 element for one group :I made a photo mat and 3 embellished shapes that are 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 so I think - For my second group, I made a photo mat and a tag . - I think I will make a D - matted and sewn.
I had some cute dog brads....they have vanished, so I guess I will join again next go 'round.
I will have no problem mailing on time.
Can't wait to see what everyone has made.

Mine is on its way with DC. I sent you a pm cause I forgot to include enough for DC on the way back. Also the envelope on the inside has the postage(Stamps) on it as I wasn't watching the lady carefully. If its not right let me know. I had just taken a 3 cats to the vet and was frazzeled and upset with DH.

I may not be on much for the next few days. I smacked my head really hard on my scrap table and have a low-grade concussion. I'm OK but the doctor doesn't want me on the computer too much as he says that aggravates it. I'll post when other stuff arrives.

Tinkerbean and SusieStone - Your packages have arrived and they are DARLING!
And now for a lesson in why we use plastic bags and double bag our things. Susie's package arrived completely mangled with all of the edge shredded and poorly wrapped in Saran Wrap. It looked and felt like it had gotten wet and then ripped up in the mail. Upon closer inspection, all of the pieces were completely intact and in great shape. By packaging each set in its' own Ziploc and putting each set in a large bag, all of the pieces made it just fine with no damage.
And that is why we use plastic bags!

You know, I totally didn't even think about taking a pic. I was too concerned about checking out the contents to make sure they were OK. DH unwrapped everything and took them out of the envelope.

How is little Gracie doing?
Head is a bit better. The bump is at least smaller and it doesn't quite feel like my brain is trying to escape from my head anymore.
Gracie is doing well, thank you. She is pretty much a holy terror and we can't wait until we can take her outside. She is getting her last shots and first flea control treatment on 9/13 so we are very close. We think it will do wonders for her personality. We joined an "Itty-Bitty Dog Play Group" so she'll have some other friends her size to play with. Our first meeting is 9/27. I have new, fun pics of her long legs and sad puppy dog eyes. I'll post them when I upload the Pet Swap pics. Thanks for her cute goodies! That Princess set is going to come in handy. :thumbsup2

The mailman is picking all of these up in the morning. I discovered this week that I'm just incapable of sorting and mailing during the week. I just have too much stuff going on. Fortunately, I was able to finish up packaging everything tonight.
I'll work on getting pics posted in the next couple of days. Many of you should have them early next week.

Everything is wonderful! I dont know whether to scrap or use as examples.
