Universal studios questions

OK....I've got Universal Studios questions. We're gonna go to USO on one day of our upcoming trip. We have two situations to work around.

1) My brother and I are legally blind. It is imperative that we be able to sit front and center at shows and rides that are like shows.
2) My Mom has degenerative bone disease. She has her good days and bad days. To be safe, we'll be getting her a wheelchair. She'll be fine getting in and out of it.

The main problem I can foresee (never been to Univarsal Studios) is for me and my brother. How do we assure the best ride and show experience? Does USO have its own version of the GAC or will we need to plead our case to every employee we encounter.

Is there any other helpful info I should know for guests with disabilities? I've been to USO's site and their ADA page didn't address my concerns. So I'm counting on the experience of my good buddies here...:)

Yes there is a US/IOA version of the GAC...just go to the Guest services off and pick it up just as you would at WDW! :)

Since I don't leave my chair I can't help you with the other question. but at least you'll have a start with this part :)

How's the accessible parking there?

THere is a multi-level parking garage (cost aboout $7 I believe) and the dinosaur level is the handi level..... both times we have gone they have had a handi CM in an electric wheelchair patrolling the parking lot.

It's a hefty walk from the garage to the CityWalk where you go one way to go to UD and another way to go to IOA. But there are people movers so you don't have to walk it....just stand there and look cute LOL Any wheelchair people traveling with you though wil have to "roll with it" so to speak. The signs around the area indicate to me that they don't want chairs using the people movers for safety reasons! :)

When you are driving up to the booths where they collect the parking fees try to get as far to the left as you can. Show the attendant your handicap placard and he/she will direct you to put on your emergency flashers and keep to the left, after about 100 feet you will see the sign and blue stripe on the pavement that indicates handicap/preferred parking. By getting to the left before the booth it saves you the danger and hassle of trying to cross multiple lanes after the booths.
If you can manage to get there in the first half hour or so of the park's opening you should get a spot very close to the people movers.
Don't forget to turn those flashers off or you will return to a car with a dead battery!
