I was inspired to try and make some shirts for our trip and I'm not very creative so I went looking for ideas. I saw the simple idea using flour and water with a swirl design and it looked cute. I thought I would give it a try but I wanted mine to be a little different so here is my first attempt at making tshirts. They aren't the best but we really like them. The kids did their shirts without my help.

I love those!! They look fantastic! So you made the 'paste' with flour and water, put that on in that pattern, let it dry. Then once it was dry you just sprayed on the dye??

Really cute! I really like how they came out. :)

What did you use to make the Mickey and Minnie heads?

I love them. I tried the swirl but with the glue. I did not like it.:thumbsup2

I got the pictures from online coloring pages and then printed them bigger. Minnie's head is actually Mickey's flipped and I found a bow on a picture of Minnie and cut it out and added eyelashes. I used tracing paper for fabrics and a tracing wheel to transfer the design. The traced lines washed out when I washed the shirts.

I actually used school glue but I think the paste might have worked better. Since the glue tends to spread when you use more than a line, I used a paintbrush to do the ears, eyes, nose and mouth.

I let the glue totally dry for a day but when we spray painted the shirts we put lots of paint on and when the glue got wet again, it started to run. Because of that, some paint bled into the white area. I thought about using a bleach pen to whiten it up but the hubby and kids really like them the way they are so I'll leave it alone.

I waited 3 days before I washed the shirts. I washed them a couple of times in cold wather with lots of water and woolite to get all the glue out.

Your shirts are cute! I have done something similar in the past using stencils that are sold at Michael's. I just lay the stencil on the shirt and spray right over them. They come out great. The stencils I bought a couple years ago. They are metal and I think they were in the same section as the Tulip fabric paint. They had the same Mickey and Minnie as on your shirts and a Pooh bear face. :thumbsup2
