I followed along with this step by step that someone on the Cricut boards wrote the first time I did it. Hope this helps!

I had this same problem when I used this cartridge for the first time. It took my 7 year old grandaughter to tell me step by step what I needed to do! Now whenever I get stuck I just have her look at it and usually she gets it right!

There should be a picture in your book (first few pages) showing you the steps.

The key is once you decide what size you want the piece to be DON'T change the size dial. It may seem strange to cut eyes at 5" but they are set to be in the correct proportion for a 5" piece.

Also keep the Real Dial size OFF.

Then just cut all the pieces. You will cut the base with no special features on. Then you will have usually have to make a selection with the shift on and off for each of 3 special features. Then if you want even more matting, you can cut one with the shadow special feature.

Once you make the first one, it will get a lot easier.

I have made Mickey, Minnie and Donald. I am now off to glue Daisy! It isn't so bad once you figure out the first one!

The first Mickey I made was a task! I found it tough to put the eyes in - if you could have seen how many eyes I made before they fit!!;) It does get easier but patience is what I think it takes to be successful. Have fun!

The bigger you can make the characters the easier they are to piece together. Sometimes if the eyes are too small, I just put a little piece of white paper behind the face and draw them in. Especially with the princesses. Mickey and friends usually aren't too bad.
