Can we leave our son in the kids club while we go on a shore excursion that he is too young to do? Or do the kids lubs close when you're docked?

We left our DS in the Oceaneers Lab because he didn't want to do the excursion. If I'm not mistaken they actually open a little earlier on port days. The clubs rarely close during the day with the exception of when they are transitioning to and from Castaway Cay. I made sure to tell them I was leaving the ship to do an excursion, I left my pager in the cabin and had a super time!

Take advantage of the clubs and do some things you want to do! Have fun!!

Thanks for the reassurance! I feel a bit guilty, but there are a couple of trips that my husband and I would really like to do, and our son isn't old enough, so I'm glad to know that he will be well taken care of! Did your child object at all to being left?!!

You didn't post how old your son is and if you have other adult family members on the cruise. From what you posted your son must be under the age of 10. Unless he is a very independent child I wouldn't recommend getting off the ship without him. What if he gets scared or upset and they need to call you to come and pick him up from the club? They will call you to pick him up-they're not a babysitting service like Flounder's. That's something to consider before you leave him alone.

My son was fine with staying in the club. That was where he wanted to be anyhow. I explained to him that we were going snorkeling, that he'd have fun with the other kids and that we'd be back by lunchtime. We did not have other family that stayed on-board but I had to have some faith in the system that he would be fine for the time that we were gone, same as when you leave your children with a sitter at home.

We left DD7 on the ship while we shopped in St Thomas. She went shopping with us in St Marten and did not want to go in St Thomas. You have to let the counselors know you are leaving the ship and what time you expect to return. We explained to DD where we were going and when we would return and she was fine. I think it depends on the age of your child and how comfortable they are in the clubs.
