I have a friend who is thinking about staying at the Shades of Green hotel. Does anyone know if staying there qualifies you for the free dining plan?? Or do you have to stay at one of the other non military ones to qualify?

Thanks in advance!!!

Absolutely not. SOG is not a disney resort. I also hope youre talking about 2009

Ummmm, nope. I was talking about 2008. Is it over already?

So is the SoG not on the Disney World property? I guess I thought it was owned and operated by Walt Disney World.

Well, the promotion did end...(I think it runs from April to June historically) but I am not 100% about SoG

So, the chance to book with a free dining plan is over, but people are still staying at the resorts with free dining plan until Sept?

Okay, well its good to know for next year I guess. Too bad you can't qualify at SoG. We want to give it a chance but its much cheaper for us to stay off property at a place with a full kitchen.

Well the promotion itself runs April to June or whatever to book your trip, but the actually time frame for the free dining is from late August to late September.

I think it's the only time of year this type of promotion ever runs....so maybe next Sept. your friends could consider a different resort if they want to get the free dining. But make sure to book the trip (or add it to an existing reservation) while the promotion is running.

The Disney Dining Plan is never available to Shades guests, even if you're willing to pay for it. While Shades is on Disney property, it is not owned by Disney.

You cannot get free dining at Shades of Green. The Disney Dining Plan is available only with bookings at Disney-owned properties.

Shades of Green resort is on Walt Disney World property, but it is owned by the Department of Defense and operated by a third party. Disney does not own or operate any part of it.

There are other non-Disney-owned resorts on property (the Swan and Dolphin), and you can't get the dining plan if you stay there, either.

We have stayed at shades of green and and loved it but unfortuantely as stated above it is operated by DOD so you do not qualify for free dining or ddp at all or even magic express. IT is a great hotel and the restaurants there are great. We really liked it a lot.
