Sewers-Ever Make a "Hipster"-type Bag?

Hello Creative DISers - I was thinking of making my own bag something like the Vera Bradley Hipster, but after looking at available patterns I'm not too sure there is anything similar. Any recommendations you could make I would appreciate! Any types of fabric that work better than others?
