View Full Version : Did I do something wrong?

I made my first two shirts today, one blue, one pink. It was the same design on both. The design had a lot of white area. The pink one came great. On the blue shirt it seems like the white area turned a little blue. It definately does not look as good as the pink one. With the white area getting a little blue it also makes the picture not quite as vibrant. Did I do something wrong? I don't know if maybe I ironed for too long? I can't think of anything else.

Did you use light or dark transfer paper?

I used dark transfer paper for both. One shirt was a hot pink and one a royal blue.

Then the blue shouldn't show through. Hmmm:confused3 I might be tempted to contact the transfer paper company.

Let me guess, HP paper?
I do not know why exactly but that is how that paper works (or worked for me). Up until using that brand, that never happened to me. The way I 'fixed' it was not to iron as long as the directions stated. If you iron for only about 1/3 or 1/4 the time they say, it doesn't seem to happen.
Hopefully this helps!

I actually used Avery paper. I couldn't find HP anywhere except online and I was too impatient to order and wait for it to come. The hot pink one came perfect, the problem was only on my blue one. I will try to iron for a little less time next time and see if that was my problem. Thanks for the help.

OT - HP has free next day shipping (+ buy 2 - get 1 free). (Think of the gas you'll save!)

I had that same thing happen on ONE shirt I did -- out of like 13 iron ons! The black showed through a bit on white words on a dark transfer on a black shirt. I'd done shirts of all colors including black already. It was the one I ironed a bit long on... I wasn't surprised to see the shirt color coming though a bit... definitely the ironing time. :goodvibes

The same thing happened to me on my first red shirt. I cut the ironing time way down on the next three red shirts that I did and they turned out fine. I had read here that the darker color shirts can tricky, re: bleeding through issues.

free OVERNIGHT shipping (not sure how much longer they can keep that offer alive though). You need to purposely select the free overnight shipping as it defaults to something else.
