152 Days:sick:

Hi Everyone.. I am Katie some of you know me, but most don't. :flower3: I am fairly new to the DISboards as I just found it when I started to plan this trip so please bear with me.

So how did this trip come to be? Well I've only been dreaming of it since my last trip.. and when was that you ask? 1996 :scared1: Every year I say I am going to take my money and go to Disney. Easier said then done when you are a broke college student. :lmao: BUT it is REALLY real this time my dream has come true and I'm coming home. :yay:

COMING ALONG FOR THE RIDE
ME Katie (20) - A college student majoring in Elementary Education. A disney Addict. First word was Mickey. (no joke) Dreams of going to Disney everyday. Other than Disney I love Desperate Housewives, (favorite show ever!) some reality TV, scrapbooking, and taking pictures.

DBF Ryan (21) - The love of my life and my bestfriend.. we have been together for over 3 years. Sometimes I really forget that we are so young. He has been to Disney once when he was 16. He loves to go, but is making me do all the planning becasue "the planning is more of my thing." He LOVES football .. mostly LSU. (Geaux Tigers!) He made a deal that he would wear disney shirts with me only if I wore matching LSU shirts with him one day while we were there. :sad2: DEAL! I couldn't dream of sharing this dream with anyone else.

This all started about a year ago when I first mentioned to him how bad I wanted to go to Disney. (Well I'm sure I mentioned it before this.) We kind of blew it off until a couple of months ago when I mentioned it again. Our trip was originally going to be December 2009. :headache: Then one day I guess the Disney Fairy sprinkled some fairy dust on Ryan when he was at work and he came home and said "Book the vacation for December 2008 .. I can't wait that long." :woohoo: So I booked 5 nights at Pop Century from December 15-20. Christmas is my favorite time of year and Disney is my favorite place in the world so it just clicked.

It still seems like this really isn't happening even though I know it is. :confused3 I have been waiting for this momemnt for so long. The time is dragging like you would not believe so I got an idea. I would start a PTR so I could talk to people who loved Disney just as much as me! :thumbsup2

Thanks for liking the picture of us. I have to admit about 90% of the pictures we have are like that or worse. :rotfl: We take about a million pictures wherever we are (hense the car ride lol) and they are always like that. I promise the pictures from WDW will be better though.

You have another poster! We're just going to miss each other. My DH and I will be at WDW from 12/23 through 1/3. I can't wait. I'm excited to see your planning process. Planning for Disney is always so much fun. Have you stayed at POP before? We liked it a lot. Have you booked dining? MVMCP? Any other special events? Can you tell I'm excited? :goodvibes

Your ADR's look great. In my opinion we reserve the right as woman to change our minds as many times as we see fit!! :rotfl: And as far as character meals we love them too with or without kids. As a matter of fact my husbands must do each trip is the Crystal Palace, but for the food not the characters.

Guess who's birthday is tomororw? MINE. :yay: I don't know what we are going to do for it though. I know I do have to go to work. :rotfl: Hopefully there will be some Disney stuff involved? Hmm.. I guess I'll have to get back to that tomorrow.

BUT speaking of suprises I am trying to plan something to do for Ryan while we are in Disney. It's not his birthday or any special occasion (well except for the fact we are going to disney) but I just want to do something.. I need you guy's help! And I have been told he has a few tricks up his sleeve so I have to do something. Come on guys.. help! :cool1:

Other than that I am thinking of canceling my Tony's ADR just so we will have a lot of time to do the party instead of wasting an hour or two eating. What do you think about that? Maybe we could get CS or eat a late lunch. Still not sure about that.

Speaking MVMCP ... my tickets came in a couple days ago. :yay: The cinderella one is for me and Ryan gets the Mickey Mouse one.

P.S. I am a flip-flopper girl myself (I have worn them in November.) But believe it or not, I don't mind wearing them at the parks at all. They are so comfortable to me. And I'm not talking expensive flip flops either....I sport the 2 for $5 ones from Old Navy. ;) Can't wait to hear what you pick out!

Mine is Sunday!!

I too am a flip flop fanatic. I usually wear them year round depending on the weather even at Disney. Reefs are my brand of choice and I have never had any problems with them walking through the parks. If it is too cold I will wear my New Balances.

I have too admit the last time we were at Disney I decide to try a pair of crocs out. Nobody be mad but....... I hated them. :confused3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

It won't be long before, you are celebrating :santa: with Mickey.

Also, I think moving the Tony's ADR like you mentioned may be a good thing. I had early ressies at Chef Mickey's 5pm and I LOVED it there, but I think if I had it to do again I would probably schedule a nice lunch somewhere and be there right at 4. But at the same time, Tony's is in the "middle of it all" so I could go either way on that.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :bday: As for ideas, it depends on your budget. Have you checked out www.disneyflorist.com? They have a lot of great ideas that you can have delivered to the room for him, or you can call them and talk to them about some of the things important to your Dbf, and they will help you come up with something unique and special. You can have a special cake delivered to your table at one of your meals. There's a cake hotline for that. You can set up a special tour that he might enjoy. Those are just some ideas off the top of my head.

Character meals for adults are great, by the way. We absolutely love them. We love taking pics with them, too.

Flip Flops...I'm southern and live at the beach. Need I say more!? :lmao: You know the hoopla about how comfy crocs are...well, they make flip flops too! This is what I am trying at Disney this time. I should have mine tomorrow! I know a lady that sells them on ebay. If you want her name lmk. I can't wait to try them out!!! I got Disney ones too. I'll take pics as soon as I get them.

Your ADR's sound good! We love the characters too. I wish I would have went to more CM's before we had kids! Look how many we have booked...crazy I know but they're so much fun. They're dressed cute at Cape May Breakfast too and the Lilo and Stitch Breakfast is awesome! Look into those too!

Woo Hoo! Thanks for joning me.

I wear flip-flops constanty (even most of the winter.. I live in Louisiana) but I am skeptical of wearing them to Disney because of all the walking. I think the arch on my foot is breaking so I am trying to find a good pair of walking shoes. Maybe all of the foot issues are becasue of the flip-flops, but I just can't help it. :lmao:

I may add one of those breakfasts just because, but I still not too sure .. we aren't really breakfast people. I'm lucky if Ryan eats a bowl of cereal before work.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

We'll be doing Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare for the first time this year ... (watch out for those evil stepsisters ... )

Have you booked your CP breakfast for EARLY - like 8:00 am - so you get into the MK before it opens? Something to think about ... and you won't reget it ... :rolleyes1

So what parks are visiting which days?

And a big "hello" to the rest of the December "gang" (you know who you are ... :thumbsup2 )

Yes I believe they will have characters when we are going.. I don't THINK they are getting rid of them until January? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

My CP breakfast is for 8:05 .. I did that on purpose because I heard how nice it is when the park is empty. :goodvibes

As far as which parks on which day.. you will have to wait for me to update for that. :lmao:

Hi!!
Great start!
I have not been around the boards lately but let me introduce myself! I am a 25 year old social studies teacher and like you my DBF and I are high school sweethearts! AND my first trip to WDW was our trip together in winter 2006 (early January)! and we have made yearly returns since then! I have been addicted every since! I didnt get to read other peoples replies but....
-- I did LOTS of fun and cute stuff for Rob our trip last summer since he paid for it for my birthday that year so I suggest a gift basket from http://memoriesbybetsy.com/Memories_by_Betsy/Welcome.html and I also did the diver package at Coral Reef and made him a dvd slideshow before we left.
-- If you want flip flops that can handle WDW pick up some Croc Capris... I have 2 pairs and thats all I am taking with me in less than 2 weeks when we head to WDW... I was introduced to crocs by some fellow teachers and was so psyched when I found the Capri ones as I am a flip flop addict myself
-- Great ADRs! We are doing Crystal Palace this trip and I really wanted a dinner at 1900 PF also but they were booked when we moved our vacation up (we were originally going to be there the 19-24 of December) so I will have to live vicariously through you until 2009! ;)

In any case, hope I helped.
If you want any more info on Betsey I have made baskets with her for Rob and then for my cousins this past summer and I have pics if you want to see them. Feel free to email me: LaBellaVita83@gmail.com since I dont' get over to the boards as much as I'd like!

PS: I noticed your Little Mermaid on Broadway icon-- have you seen the show? We live about 80 minutes north of NYC and we saw Beauty and the Beast before it closed last summer and ever since then I have wanted to go back and see Little Mermaid but for some reason that is taking more convincing then B&tB did with my DBF! lol!

:lmao:

Crocs baby! :cool1: I love the Athens but I just got these too and I love them.

Hi and :welcome: join the party.

I am thinking about the gift basket thing, but I honestly haven't seen anything a 21 year old guy would be interested in. :confused3 All I've seen is plushes and novelty things like that. I would love to know what you had put in your DBF's basket.

You did the reverse of me.. you were supposed to go in '08 and I was supposed to be going in '09. :rotfl: Don't be too sad though next year I will get to look at your trip and be sad I'm not there .. atleast you have something to look forward to. :lmao:

I have not seen Little Mermaid on Broadway (I haven't seen anything on broadway.. I've never been to NY) I would LOVE to one day though. Both shows look like they would be great.

Crocs baby! :cool1: I love the Athens but I just got these too and I love them.

Ooooh. I really like those. They look really comfy and they have an arch that most flip-flops don't. I really might have to look into those. :thumbsup2 Thank you so much. Off to ebay. :woohoo: I hope this isn't a dumb question, but what is body glide?

Hi, checking in to see how everything is going.

Everything is going great. I hope to post an update soon, but I have been so busy trying to get stuff ready for school :teacher: .. I really haven't had the time. School starts Thursday so hopefully after that I can get back here (where I want to be :snooty: ) :cheer2:

It's for runners or bikers to prevent chafing, but I also use it on the bottom of my feet and where the straps go across the top of my foot. You can get it at sports stores.

Hi! I am so glad I checked tonight! Hope I can help!
In any case, we are actually going to WDW next week! But we just didn't get all the ADRs I originally wanted since we moved our Christmas trip to an End of Summer one! lol! (We are eating at Hollywood Brown Derby, Crystal Palace, Les Chefs, Cape May Cafe, Spoodles, Cap'n Jacks, and San Angel Inn & staying at Boardwalk Inn!) But I will be hitting 1900 PF next year, fo sho!
In any case, here's a couple pics of our basket:
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e88/myrapunzal/DSCN1739.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e88/myrapunzal/DSCN1740.jpg http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e88/myrapunzal/IMG_2880Small.jpg
I did put plush in (and we keep them in our Disney kitchen now that we moved in together) One was minnie dressed as Belle, and the other Mickey as Captain Jack... then I put in refill mugs for our resort... snacks for the room (Chip n Dale trail mix and Cotton Candy)... and little name badges with our names engraved on them since last year was the last year that they were having those ones. Oh and an Epcot Passport, even though we didn't use it. I think travel mugs and a picture frame are a nice idea and that is what I started with.

YAY FOR DISCOUNTS!!

Last night I was reading the boards and went to NJdisneyfreak's thread (like I always do :rotfl:) and I saw that there was some kind of discount for December. So today I went to TGM and sure enough it was for my dates. So I called Disney today and I saved over $200. :woohoo: Not to complain, but the CM I spoke with just sounded miserable. :sad2: The whole time he sounded like that was the last place on earth he wanted to be. I hate going to work too, but this man sounded like he DREADED talking to me. Up to this point everyone I have spoken with has been pleasant, and made me look forward to Disney. He didn't say anything mean or rude he just sounded depressed, it kind of reminded me of calling Eeyore and having him do my discount. Oh well if the only complaint I have is getting a CM that is sad then I think I did good.. and the money I saved made it worth it! :lovestruc

In other news.. I have going back and forth getting stuff ready for school. Tomorrow is my first day. I am kinda nervous, but not really. I think it will be fun, and it will make time go faster. :yay: (Is it December yet? :santa:)

Oh and as most of you know my Birthday was July 28th. Well Ryan bought me the CUTEST cake. :lovestruc I know you guys will appreciate it! Sorry for the quality.. I took it on my phone.

Thank you. It didn't actually come like that. The cake was hot pink with black spots and Ryan found the Mickey in the toy section and put him on it.

I didn't tell Ryan about the ketchup thing... he always asks for ketchup at restaurants anyway so I am hoping he asks, becaues I know I won't as I HATE ketchup with a passion. :rotfl: And I know if I tell him to ask for ketchup he will know something is up.

12/15 - Akershus Princess Story Book (Dinner)
12/16 - Chef Mickey's (Breakfast)
12/16 - 50's PTC (Dinner)
12/17- 1900 Park Faire (Dinner)
12/18 - Crystal Palace Breakfast (Breakfast)
12/19- WCC

So here is the plan.

12/15 - Get to Disney World around noon-ish. :yay:

Go to Epcot. Dinner at Akershus at 6:10 PM.

12/16 - Chef Mickeys at 8:00
Go to Hollywood Studios.
Take a break in the middle if we want.
Prime Time Cafe at 6:00.

Eat breakfast at foodcourt or CS.
Leave about 4.
1900 PF at 6:00 PM.
Probably go to DTD after dinner.

12/18- Magic Kingdom.
Crystal Palace 8:00.
MVMCP.

12/19- Magic Kingdom again.
We will probably take this day slower.
WCC at 6:35.

Epcot will have Christmas around the world so if you have time, I say go. It's pretty interesting to hear about the traditions of other countries.

Great trip report so far :thumbsup2 We're also going at Christmas, we'll be there when you guys are :cool1:

I like your ADR choices, DH wouldn't do PTC:confused: We're hoping to take our friends there next year if the plan comes together, I won't be telling them the theme tho. :lmao:

I hope you enjoy WCC too, love it there  When we went in 2006 we said we were getting married at WL the next year and they gave us champagne and made us get up and dance :woohoo: You'll certainly have fun :thumbsup2

I was just thinking of something for you to get/do for DBF - we did a carriage ride at POFQ for my birthday last year which was romantic, it's a lovely resort too. As for something to get him, that's a bit tricky for the men (unless they love Disney as much as us girls seem to:rotfl: ) not sure if there are any sporting stores there (at DTD), there might be in Dec if they transform it quickly. Have you checked out WWOS? Not sure what events if any they will have.

Our trip this year will be a mission to find characters - didn't get to do many last year so I want to make up for it :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear more, hope your first few days at school were ok? Ah the student life, no money at the time but all the freedom and spare time are missed when you have to work all the time (I'm sounding really old now :lmao: )

I haven't done TOO much these last couple of weeks. I did start school though! I am only taking 12 hours, but I have had tons of homework already. I don't know if I've mentioned it but I am majoring in Elementary Education and I want to teach 2nd or 3rd grade. I say this because I know a lot of you on the DIS are teachers.

I know a lot of you have been seeing the hurricane on the news. We have gotten a little bit of it, but nothing terrible. Saturday we went "Hurricane Shopping" as I call it. We went to Wal-mart. :scared1: Remind me to NEVER do that again. :rotfl: It looked worse than being there on Christmas eve. There were TONS of people there, and they were out of a lot of stuff. We managed to get water and some other necessities but it was a mad house in there. It was funny though, because I saw a bunch of people there who were completely oblivious. I even heard one Mom say "Why is it so busy today?" Well turn on the news or listen to the radio. :happytv: Last night at about 9:30 our power went out. It came back around midnight. I am curious to see how all of my family down in N.O. are doing and I hope everyone and their families on the DIS are safe.

Now it's time for the REAL reason I updated. We are officially DONE paying for the trip. :yay: :yay: It is finally starting to feel real to me, and I cannot wait! :woohoo: Only 104 days until I am here...

Oh wow, that second castle picture's gorgeous. Congrats on paying off the trip!!! You must be psyched to be leaving so soon! And I'm glad you're OK regarding the hurricane... it looked pretty scary on the news coverage here but thankfully it wasn't as bad as originally predicted.

You're right. This is beautiful! :lovestruc
I cannot WAIT to see it look like THAT in person.

I totally agree - those pictures are GORGEOUS!

Yay for having the trip completely paid off! That definately makes the trip seem completely REAL! :woohoo:
It does make it seem real.. you know what else does? I was on the computer today and Ryan asked to see all my Disney stuff. :yay:

that is one of hte best castle pics i have ever seen.

i was going to have mine paid off, but we up and bought a camper, now i am going to wait till next month to pay it off, i dont even remember the exact amount i have left.:rolleyes1 maybe i should look into that, but we do have the plane tickets paid for, and a good chunk of the hotel already.
:thumbsup2

I'm glad I have a big chunk of it paid for (besides gas, souviners, and what not) but until the vacation we are going to save save save.

Yeah we are ok. It wasn't that bad.. I have seen worse. I probably wouldn't have known it was a hurricane if it wasn't all over the TV. :lmao: I think the news made it out more than it was because I had friends (who don't live in LA) constantly texting me to make sure I was ok because it looked so bad on TV. :lovestruc

party: 99 DAYS LEFT party:

Wow when I started planning this trip it was more than 200 days away. It's getting closer and closer. They are starting to put Halloween stuff in the stores now. It is making me so excited because I know after Halloween it's CHRISTMAS!!! (Well after that little holiday called Thanksgiving :confused3) I have been so excited this week, because it is going by so fast for me! I thought I would make a list of my MUST do's to help me. (I will also include Ryan's)

Magic Kingdom
Splash Mountain (If It's open, I read that sometimes in Dec it's closed)
Space Mountain (Dad said the first time I went on it I barely made it through and tried to stand on my tip-toes. :rotfl: I was only 6)
Monster's INC Laugh Floor (I LOVE Monster's Inc.. it's my favorite Pixar movie .. tied with Toy Story)
Buzz Lightyear
POTC
BTMRR
HM

Hollywood Studios
Indiana Jones (Ryan didn't get to see it before and really wants to)
Star Tours
Beauty and The Beast
Rock N Roller Coaster
TOT
Little Mermaid (Again one of my favorites)
Lights, Motor, Action! Stunt Show (Ryan is so excited about this)
Toy Story Midway Mania

EPCOT
Misson Space (Orange Team!)
Test Track
Soarin'
Turtle Talk With Crush (Ryan really wants to see this and I have a funny story about Ryan coming up)
Club Cool (To let Ryan taste his soon to be favorite drink :rotfl: any guesses on what that could be??)

Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
Dinosaur
Primeval Whirl
Killimanjaro Safari
Kali River Rapids
Finding Nemo

I hope we get to do everything we want to, but if we can't that just means I have to come back right? :rolleyes1

When I was talking about Turtle Talk with Crush it reminded me of a funny story about Ryan. Ryan and I first met right after he graduated from highschool. One day I was at his house and found his junior year journal for his English class. Well the topic was "Who is my hero" (or something like that) and who do you think Ryan wrote about? :rotfl: That's right he wrote about Crush. :lmao: He wrote how Crush is the hero of the movie, because if it wasn't for him Marlin never would have found Nemo. Yes, this was moment I knew we were meant for eachother.

Hi Katie, I saw your post in Scott's PTR and followed you over. It looks like you and Ryan are going to have a magical trip. I am jealous of all the Disers going in December as I was supposed to go then too but then I had to delay the trip until May. I will now have to live vicariously though all of your TR's. :cutie:

Ok I dont know HOW I did this, but I some how missed your comment. I hope you don't think I was ignoring you.

Anywho, it's cool that we will both me going that the same time! I hope we like WCC I am really outgoing and Ryan is too for the most part so I'm sure we will have a great time. I love embarassing Ryan so I hope PTC makes him eat ALL of his veggies. :rotfl:

The carriage POFQ sounds awesome. Do you have to make reservations for this?

School is okay, these days I like to think of it more as "the place you go so time will go faster for vacation" :lmao:

Hey no worries - I get ignored a lot - kidding :rotfl:

Our partners have to be up for anything we Disers throw at them -DH is getting wise to this and doing his own research ;) Just be prepared for anything at WCC - in a good way :lovestruc - and don't expect a quiet meal :dance3:

I copied this info about the carriage ride - it's from wdwinfo.com so should be up to date. I'm sure we booked ours in advance (I'm thinking 30 days but not positive) and I think the number is WDW-PLAY ? May want to check that though.

A relaxing and cozy 25 -minute carriage ride through Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort

$35.00 for 25 minutes (includes tax)
Tickets are sold by the carriage drivers
Cash and Disney Resort guest room charge only. No credit cards are accepted
Large carriage holds 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children.
Reservations nightly (weather permitting)
Begins at 6:00 pm with the last ride departing at 9:30pm
Departs from in front of the Boatwright's Dining Hall
Beverages are permitted

I definately recommend it, the driver was awesome and it was just so nice to slow down and relax for a bit :cloud9:

I love how everyday life is just killing time til we get there :rotfl: I totally agree :thumbsup2

And that picture of the castle was just fabulous  I'm getting goose bumps - I can't wait to be stood in front of it watching Wishes

I love all your 'must do's ' I think if you plan it carefully you'll be able to do most things - firstly check the show times as they are set, then see what is closest (esp. to each other - we often find ourselves walking from one end of park to the other when we realise we've missed something  ) Also try to go with the EMH's (although I read on the Disunplugged forum today that they now don't give out wristbands but check your resort ID's - causing delays :headache: ). If you don't end up doing everything don't worry, as you said that's an added incentive to go again :cool1:

ETA: I just saw you're going to MVMCP on the 18th...that's when we're going too! :)

Top Ten Reasons Hurricane Season is Like Christmas

10. Decorating the house (boarding up windows).

9. Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last season (camping
gear, flashlights).

8. Last minute shopping in crowded stores.

7. Regular TV shows pre-empted for "specials".

6. Family coming to stay with you.

5. Family and friends from out-of-state calling.

4. Buying food you don't normally buy ... and in large quantities.

3. Days off from work.

2. Candles.

and . . . .

1. And the number one reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas . . .

At some point you know you're going to have a tree in your house!

I apologize for being so late to this. For whatever reason (slow, stupid) I didn't notice you had a report going.

Now that I'm here, I'll sit back and enjoy the trip plans, as well as the enthusiasm you have for becoming a teacher. I have third grade, and I recommend that if you're choosing between 2nd and 3rd, go with 2nd. Second in our district does not take the state testing, which is pressure-packed.
It adds a lot of stress to the job.
A lot!
The third grade curriculum is also known across the country for being one of the biggest jumps, thus most difficult for the kids. My team teacher and I asked to move down to second grade last year, because we're weary from the stress and pressure, but our principal and assistant principal said our scores are too good, so they can't afford for us to move down. We're going to make the request again this year. Even a one year break would be nice.

I will look forward to following all of your plans and seeing many great Christmas pictures to look at during my Christmas break!

Again, I am so sorry I didn't notice your report. Thanks for joining us on the Magic Camel!

Welcome MeMom! Don't apologize! You're here now and that is all that matters. :yay: Right now is the boring part anyway.. there is only so much I can talk about as far as planning. When I get to the TR that will be the fun part. :thumbsup2

I think the reason 3rd grade is so much harder is because that is when the introduce multiplication and cursive handwriting (I believe .. atleast it is here) I am not TOTALLY sure I might even consider first grade. Everyone I have talked to has told me whatever I do don't go try middle school. :rotfl:

A friend of mine from church just graduated and got a job at a local middle school. It is in a bad part of town and he HATES it. He said that he isn't even sure about finishing the rest of the year.

:cheer2: 92 to be exact. :rotfl: I agree with the dining. I am probably going to cancel my Tony's ADR because that is the same night as MVMCP and I think it will be a lot more laid back if we just eat counter service that night. We don't have kids so even if we eat something light at about 5 or 6 we will be good until the party is over.

How funny! As a middle school teacher, I would actually freak :scared1: at the thought of teaching elementary. Even though this is the start of my thirteenth year in education, I can still remember my substitute teaching days, and I hated teaching elementary. In fact, the younger the grade, the more I disliked it. :sad2: Weird, right? It reinforced the idea that teachers are called to the populations they teach. I couldn't imagine teaching any other grade level than middle. I feel bad for your friend. Maybe it's the area the school is in, or maybe it's the age group, but I hope he finds his niche and not give up on the profession. :teacher:

This morning I logged onto tourguidemike. I checked my messages and someone sent me a message about free dining for the dates December 14-20. I called Disney immediately and I got free dining! I originally was not going to use the dining plan because I just don't eat much but I am now. :lmao: The only thing is since I used the other code I couldn't use both so I had to take one off. So I have to pay $150 difference, but that is no big deal seeing that we would pay that for food anyways. I'm so excited. This is really happening!!

Oh wow that is fantastic news :thumbsup2 I'm guessing the airfair prices are putting some people off (I'm so glad we booked in March). At least you don't have to worry about paying for food now (just gratuity at TS) as you said $150 will be easy to make up. 12/16 - 50's PTC (Dinner)
12/17- 1900 Park Faire (Dinner)
12/18 - Crystal Palace Breakfast (Breakfast)
12/19- WCC

So here is the plan.

12/15 - Get to Disney World around noon-ish. :yay:
Relax a little. (very little we will be excited.)
Go to Epcot. Dinner at Akershus at 6:10 PM.

Good choice - start the trip with some Princesses!! I think the Christmas tree lighting is around 6:00 ...

12/16 - Chef Mickeys at 8:00
Go to Hollywood Studios.
Take a break in the middle if we want.
Prime Time Cafe at 6:00.

12/17 - Animal Kingdom Day.
Eat breakfast at foodcourt or CS.
Leave about 4.
1900 PF at 6:00 PM.
Probably go to DTD after dinner.

You may also want to consider touring the monorail resorts and checking out the decorations ...

12/18- Magic Kingdom.
Crystal Palace 8:00.
MVMCP.

Get there early so you can take your time walking - practically by yourselves!! - up Main Street!!

12/19- Magic Kingdom again.
We will probably take this day slower.
WCC at 6:35.

12/20-Last day :sad2:
We will go to one more park before we go
but we will play that by ear. Probably Epcot.

Sounds like our plan for our last day ... (now - if the airline will only stop changing the time of our return flight!!)

I finally have some time to check in ... looking good so far ...

Wow when I started planning this trip it was more than 200 days away. It's getting closer and closer. They are starting to put Halloween stuff in the stores now.

Halloween - that stuff is already on sale up here in NJ!! I was shopping Monday and they were putting out the Christas merchandise already!!

I have been so excited this week, because it is going by so fast for me!

:rotfl: I was only 6)
I won't be doing SM again - once was enough for me!! Splash Mtn - first time - this trip (at the end of the day ... )
Monster's INC Laugh Floor (I LOVE Monster's Inc.. it's my favorite Pixar movie .. tied with Toy Story)
Just be careful where you sit - my DW was one of their "victims" our last trip ... :lmao: ... (not that she didn't deserve it ... :rotfl2: )
Buzz Lightyear
Bet you can't do it just once ...
POTC pirate:
BTMRR
I'm not a coaster guy - but I like this one!!
HM
Boo!!
And don't forget Mickey's Philharmagic!!

Hollywood Studios
Indiana Jones (Ryan didn't get to see it before and really wants to)
Star Tours
Beauty and The Beast
Rock N Roller Coaster
TOT
Little Mermaid (Again one of my favorites)
Lights, Motor, Action! Stunt Show (Ryan is so excited about this)
Toy Story Midway Mania
Good luck!! I've heard the waits are loooooooooooong .....

... and watch out for those "street people" - especially the starlets ...

EPCOT
Misson Space (Orange Team!)
NOOOO WAAAAAY!!
Test Track
Soarin' Oh Yeaahh!!

Turtle Talk With Crush (Ryan really wants to see this and I have a funny story about Ryan coming up) ... and I have a sort-of-funny story about me and the DD and Crush ...
Club Cool (To let Ryan taste his soon to be favorite drink :rotfl: any guesses on what that could be??)

Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
... I don't think so ...
Dinosaur
Primeval Whirl
Killimanjaro Safari
Kali River Rapids
Finding Nemo
Lion King??

Still catching up ... :)

Guess what guys?!?!

:woohoo: Mickey Bars for everyone!!! :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

Unfortunately - no deals for when we'll be there (the prior week ...) And it looks like it may be unusually crowded ...

But who cares?!?

Cuz - it's Disney World!! :dance3:

OK - all caught up now ... and the DP has been waiting patiently to go to the park ...

Have a great weekend!!

Thanks for all of your suggestions! I forgot all about Philharmagic and Lion King. What's wrong with me.

Sorry about your lack of deals. For some reason I'm thinking that when I am going to be there it's going to be slow, because I've seen tons of deals that only apply from the week 14-20. Hopefully this is the case, but if not it's ok as you said IT'S DISNEY!!!

Oh btw. What is the story with your DD and crush? popcorn::

You wanted to know about my "adventure" with Crush ... here you go (from the TR from our May 07 trip ... I guess I should get around to posting it on DIS one of these days ... )

Vicki wanted to hang out with her folks and cousins in the World Showcase (they ended up doing a "musical tour" of the WS, including the British Invasion at the UK, Mo Rockin', and the B. J. Thomas Flower Power Concert) - so I took Danielle back to POFQ for a nap. The plan was meet back at Mexico around 6:00 pm and do the Gran Fiesta Tour.

But that's not what happened: once back at the hotel, Danielle decided she'd rather play with her dolls and toys than get some sleep - or rest while watching some TV - or lying down while her Daddy read her some stories – or... (well, you get the idea). Neither of us got a nap …

So around 4:30 I had a choice to make: stay at POFQ until Danielle fell asleep (which, based on experience would happen about 5:00-5:30) and then maybe make it back to Epcot by 8:00 pm (if I was lucky), or head back to Epcot now and hope she would get a short nap on the bus. I chose the latter option.

So I packed up her stroller, including her fan/spray bottle contraption-thingy (which I did not let her have on the bus!) and the videocamera. And of course Danielle did not fall asleep on the bus to Epcot. So I put her into the stroller and headed to the turnstiles, and once through the gates - looked down to see her out cold.

Now, the smart thing would have been to leave Danielle in the stroller napping, call Vicki, and meet up with the rest of the group in the World Showcase. But that's not what I did (and boy - would I pay for it!)

I was looking forward to a little solo "Daddy and Danielle" time and had planned to take her to the Living Seas with Nemo and Turtle Talk with Crush, before heading over to Mexico. And since she had just fallen asleep, I figured she could wake up easily and I wouldn't have any problems. So I parked the stroller, picked Danielle up, and got onto the Living Seas (no line). Danielle woke up about halfway through the Living Seas ride (not a must see - even for kids...) and was a little drowsy but in good spirits.

And I lucked out again - no line for Turtle Talk with Crush!

Danielle was fully awake by the time we entered Turtle Talk - and although in a good mood, she didn't seem too thrilled with seeing the show (she had seen it earlier in the day with her GFs) and did not want to sit on the floor with the other kids. So I sat down and held her in my lap. Then, right on cue when the doors closed, she says to me "Daddy, I have to go to the potty." Now, just the night before at Disney-MGM the very same thing happened, and she was fine for a good 45 minutes - so I figured we would be all right for the 10 minute Turtle Talk show.

Uh-uh - didn't happen … and about 30 seconds later: "I'm sorry, Daddy!"

So we scooted out of there …

Fortunately, I had a spare change of clothes for Danielle. Unfortunately, I didn't have extra clothes for me (remember, she was sitting on my lap!). Oh, well...

So we got cleaned up in the Men's Room and went outside into the warm sun, sat down on some benches by The Land, and I started to dry off . And Danielle, tired and upset with herself, switched into cranky mode ... and I, a little disappointed and not in the best of spirits, forgot about the bubbles (another mistake...)

I called Vicki, and the group came to my rescue. Vicki and I convinced Ed, Barbara, Jim, and Grace that they HAD to do Soarin' (Claire has motion sickness issues and passed) - and while they got in line (about 45 minutes at that point in the day), we headed over to Mexico (and I continued to dry off...)

:rotfl2:

So I'm hoping for a better "reception" this year ... :rotfl:

The TR is already in a 3-ring binder ... :thumbsup2 ... with pictures ...

... and I put together a photo album with hard copies of about 250 pictures ... and there's 2 1/2 hours of video and a total of about 700 photos on the computer ...

The DW on the other hand ... spent the entire week in WDW agonizing over finding the "right" scrapbook, pages, etc ... Guess how many pages she's done? :rotfl:

Now that she's started kindergarten - no more naps at school (but I still need them!!) ... which creates the "problem" that she's dead tired by 8:00 pm ...

So I don't know what's gonna happen this December ... :confused3 ...

WARNING:KATIE IS ABOUT TO VENT

Today I found out my computer has a VIRUS. I have been online for 6 hours today trying to get rid of and I spent $60 for anti-virus software. I am beyond ticked off at this whole thing. The ANTI-VIRUS software people keep telling me what to do to get rid of it and it isn't really helping. I asked them if there was anyway I could contact them on the phone becasue the chat thing isn't really helping. Please tell me why the representative tells me "THEY DON'T HAVE A PHONE." I know that is B.S. because I talked to someone on the phone today when I paid $60 for Anti-Virus software. The company is Mcafee and from what I know they are good company, but these people just keep jerking me around. My computer on the other hand isn't too SERIOUS, but there is a TROJAN on my computer and there are a lot of pop-ups coming on my screen.

My mom has a friend who works for Microsoft so I will call him tomorrow and see what he can do. The good news is I can still get online and everything, but it is just more annoying than anything. Sorry for all my venting I am just very mad, and I know I can come here when ever I get mad.

On a lighter note I'm going to disney in 77 days!!!:woohoo:

Well my computer is now fixed. :worship: I found out you can get more taken care of if you aren't grouchy. :rotfl:

Once again I decided I need to change my adr's :lmao: Hopefully this will be the last time, but I won't hold my breath. :lmao: I am still kind of wanting to change my Akershus ADR for Coral Reef because I am just not sure about the food. I called and could not get one for CR. If anyone has eaten there for dinner please let me know how the food is. I am really going there for the princesses but Ryan and I are both really picky. If anyone has pictures of the food feel free to post them.

Here are our new ADR's.

12/15: Akershus Princess Story Book 6:10 PM
12/16 Chef Mickey's 8:00 AM
12/16 50's Prime Time Cafe 4:50 (I changed the time here)
12/17 1900 Park Faire 6:00 PM
12/18 LTT 1:30 PM (I canceled CP and Tony's)
12/19 Whispering Canyon Cafe 6:35 PM

I am going to keep trying for Coral Reef and if I can get it I will probably eat dinner there on the 15th and eat breakfast at Akershus the morning we leave. I heard the breakfst is less adventurous than the dinner. :rotfl:

Also the CM told me there were not going to be any characters at LTT. I thought they were going to be there until the end of December? Does anyone have any details about this?

Just to add my 2 cents about the ADR sitch...
We didn't really like the food at Akershus.... (I am not a picky eater AT ALL but my fiance is for sure) but the princess interaction was GREAT! I would suggest switching it to the breakfast on the day you leave and maybe making room for another ADR that night. As we discovered on our trip this summer Breakfasts in Disney are GREAAAT!!! We will def schedule more of these in the future!

We are are HUGE fans of the World Showcase restaurants (San Angel Inn is a must do for us each trip and Les Chefs is also amazing!) If you want character dining in Epcot there is also the Garden Grill which had way better food than Norway. We've eaten at almost every country and I would probably say the top 3 for us are Mexico, France, and Canada... any questions feel free to ask!

Also remember you can VERY easily walk to the Boardwalk via a path by France in the World Showcase. We stayed at Boardwalk Inn a month and a half ago and were able to try quite a few of the restaurants in this area and Spoodles was also wonderful!

If you are going to 1900 PF you will get great character interaction and same with Chef Mickeys (LTT is only characters at Dinner I believe btw-- if you want a MK character meal we loved the food at Crystal Palace this summer!)

Hope I could help a little! ;)

i'm glad you changed your ADRs around so you don't have a dinner ADR the night of MVMCP. that's what i was gonna tell you to do, so good girl! it's just a waste of time to eat during the party, in my opinion. i saw you got LTT for lunch that day. i'm sure someone has already told you this, but the characters are only there for dinner. but i've heard the lunch food is really good so it'll be worth it!

I hope we get to do everything we want to, but if we can't that just means I have to come back right? :rolleyes1

EXACTLY!!!! i was just going to say this exact thing. i was in the same boat as you last year - going back to disney after a long hiatus and looking forward to it as much as you are! just remember it's impossible to do EVERYTHING in one trip unless you're there for like a month. i got stressed out at first because i felt disappointed that we weren't getting to do it ALL, but then i decided to stop obsessing and just let things happen and have fun and it turned out to be a great trip! so just remember - go with the flow! not everything is going to happen as planned. just smile and remember......YOU'RE IN DISNEY WORLD! ;)

one more tip - when you go to DHS, grab a times guide first thing and plan out your day. there are so many shows there that it's impossible to see everything you want to unless you sort of plan it out according to show times. i know when we were there last time they only showed the car stunt show twice that day. just a little tip!

We're eating at Liberty Tree Tavern the day before Thanksgiving. I think characters are supposed to be there until January 9th. I'm glad we're going to be able to experience this before it ends, too. They said people were asking for less character dining in Magic Kingdom. It seems like so many people are saying they're going to miss it, though. It would be nice if they could do some of each - have M-W-F non-character dining and T-Th-Sat. character dining and alternate Sundays, or something like that. That way everyone could have their opportunities to have the meal in the way they wanted it.

hey, memom! you probably know this, but the characters are only there at dinner. so i hope you guys got a dinner ressie! i told katie that - they have a lunch ressie. but i hear the food at lunch is really good to make up a little bit for the lack of character. ;)

Yep. I figured why pay $50 a ticket if I'm going to spend 1-2 hours eating?? It didn't make sense to me.

Thanks for all the tips. :goodvibes

Well, as many people informed me the characters won't be there. It's ok though I will have plenty of chances to eat with Mickey. I would have liked to experience it before it ended but it's not the end of the world. I think you have a GREAT idea about the alternate times though! It's weird that people are complaining about characters at the MAGIC KINGDOM. You'd think of all the parks this would be the one where people would want to eat with characters the most right??? Weird. I can see Epcot because that is triggered as more for adults (I'm not saying that kids don't like it too!) I just think it's kind of odd.

61 DAYS LEFT!

As of now we are all paid up on the Vacation. I've made all of my ADR's that I am mostly happy with. (Not saying I won't change my mind;) ) So now all that's left is playing the waiting game. That's no fun! :rotfl:

I've been doing some browsing. I've been looking for a camera since mine broke. I found one from bestbuy that is a pretty good deal. I'm going to post it on here so you guys can give me your input. (Especially you Tammy!) It has a 10x optical zoom and is a Canon. It is on sale for only $265 which sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z169/katiegates728/camera.jpg

We are probbably going to buy that one. We definitly need one by November 1. That is the day we are going to the LSU vs. Tulane game! I bought them for Ryan for our 3 year anniversary which was in August. I got a pretty good deal on the tickets. Since Disney was mostly my idea I thought he needed them. I will be posting pictures of the game when I get back.

I also bought this shirt for Disney. I LOVE Monsters Inc. It's my favorite Pixar movie. (Tied with Toy Story!) I will probably wear it when we go to DHS. I found a few more disney shirts that I like that I will probably be buying.

http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z169/katiegates728/monstersinc.jpg

Now I'm going to go watch Aladdin on the Disney Channel!

I forgot to mention another major (well not really) change! I figure out my plans for Saturday! Well Tammy (Onetreehilladdict) figured them out for me. :lmao: She is doing a grand gathering breakfast at Tony's that day and her sister and her boyfriend backed out. Since that puts them under 8 people she asked if Ryan and I would like to come along. Of course we said yes. Who knows the next time we are going to be there with 8 people? :confused3 So it works for both of us! So that will be around 9:00 so we will go to MK that morning and hang around there for a while and then go home. Maybe we can skip that last part. :rotfl2:

We're going to have a blast! I can't wait. Less than 2 months now. That camera looks fabulous to me! Point and shoots are all about that optical zoom and this one is pretty high and the price looks good too. My kids have a little camera that's 7 megapixel 3X optical and it's not too bad. It was less than $100...Sidney found it in the unclaimed junk at work. They love it. I was just going through the pics DD took at the Mtns and it was hilarious.

I love the Monsters Inc shirt...I never see stuff with them on it.

Tony's only does breakfast for Grand Gatherings...if you have a group of 8 or more. For the event there is characters and a special viewing of the PhilharMagic show. It sounds ike a lot of fun.

Finally everything is good to go with all that. :yay: We'll be dining with the gang in just a couple of months. I'm still trying to decide on a couple of extra ADR's. I don't want to repeat the entire vacation I just had. I think I'll drop Cape May and add on a dinner somewhere. I just want to make everyone happy.

Thank you! I love it. :lovestruc I bought it at hottopic.com(I usually don't buy their clothes, BUT they have a lot of cute disney shirts with characters you usually don't see on adults clothes.. like toystory, lion king, etc.)

Good! Yesterday when you called they need my address.. are they going to be sending me information on it? It's hard to make everyone happy... that's why I'm glad it's just me and Ryan he usually just goes with flow. The only thing he does that bugs me is i'll ask him when I make ADR's if he wants to go somewhere and he just tells me to do whatever. Then AFTER I make them he tells me somewhere he would like to go. Why didn't you just tell me when I asked?

That does sound good. I didn't realize they did that, but we'll try that in the future.

Do you know which characters are there?

I know for sure Mickey. I think probably more from the fab five? There is also supposed to be Stromboli (sp?) he is pretty rare.

There's also some more different Grandgatherings you can do. They have a Wishes cruise with Captain Hook and Peter Pan. There's also a cool safari one in Animal Kingdom that sounds fun. Those were all booked.. the Tony's one was the only one Tammy could get and she was lucky getting that one.

I was on the phone with them when I called you....that's why I was so rushed. They have to make sure we really know one another before they stick us in a gathering so they ask for names, phone #'s, addresses, ressie #'s...ugh! They don't send info out unless you ask for it. It may say something about it in the documents when you get them. Not sure...never did a GG before. I posted on the rest board last night asking if anyone had pics from the GMGG at Tony's. I hope someone replied. If not I'll bump it again. I hope to try out the other two GG things next year. I got that offer so late in the game that everything was booked. I was extremely lucky to get this one. I got the last available table. You'll have to wear your shirt to DHS and have your pic made w/ the Monster's over there.

Okay...I am about to start my PTR. Since you are oart of the GG I guess I should add you guys to my report as well so send me your favorite picture! You can email it or post in here somewhere...

I also have some news. I let it slip yesterday (while talking to my dad) that Ashley was probably planning a huge party in their house while we were gone to WDW! Evidently he started to think about this. Next thing I know...my mom is calling me...how much to add her back on!? And that they did. (It was only $230 more for her to go and that was with free dining and all) So now she has to go.... PARTY CANCELED! :rotfl2: I told her then she probably could not do the breakfast with us but surprisingly....tonight when I called the fella asked me if I would like to add her on. I was like, um. Okay. Whatever. That's fine. So now there will be 9 of us plus the baby. :yay:

I am very excited about this meal. I hear we get a pin too. And someone said you get to see Chip and Dale...this "singing" waiter from Lady and the Tramp, Mickey, and a couple of other people. I forget who they said now but it really sounds like a fun time! Sne dme a pic ASAP. K?

Hey guys! Wow I've been gone almost a month. Sorry about that. I've been lurking a little bit, but I have been extremely busy. I have had so much school work and I've been under the weather. I still am congested a little bit.

I promised everyone pictres of the LSU/Tulane game. We don't have to talk about the Alabama game though. :rolleyes1 (I'm jk Alabama is actually my 2nd favorite and my dad is the BIGGEST Alabama fan)

We only have 29 days left until we are in ORLANDO! :scared1: I can't believe how close it is. :woohoo: I made a countdown calendar I will put pics of that later. (I promise it won't be a month this time :rotfl2:)

BTW. Did anyone see Desperate Housewives tonight??? :scared1:

I thought the show was great tonight! I don't want to wait two weeks to see it again!!!

So you loving this new camera? Get used to it so you get the best pics at Disney! What did you end up doing with the flight? LMK

Yeah DH was really good. I don't want to wait 2 weeks either. I always watch it with my mom and when they said it isn't coming on next week she was like "Oh no your going to go through withdrawls" :rotfl2:

I do love my camera. I am getting the hang of it. It takes the pictures really fast so thats good because my hans are really shaky.

About the flight...

I called Disney that Saturday I called you and I talked to a guy and he told me there were no available rooms in Pop for the 21. :sad2: So I called back Monday and the CM told me again there were no rooms. So I told her I needed some place to stay for the 21st and she said "Well actually there are rooms at POP, but with the promotion (free dining) you have it isn't valid for that day" So I told her that's fine if I don't get it for that day I just need a room. So she booked me under a different reservtion. I knew the guy the first day was leaving something out. Why could he have just told me that in the beginning? :confused3

But anyway. We will be able to stay Saturday. I am so glad because now I don't have to worry about rushing around MVMCP trying to see EVERYTHING. :yay:

We've all got colds around here, too. Lots of sniffling, sneezing, and coughing going on. We could be in a cold medicine commercial and not have to fake it! I guess half the country goes through it at this time of year, huh?

I'm glad I'm having my cold this week instead of next, though, since I'd rather be sick at home than in Disney World.

That's a very sweet picture. Thanks for sharing it!

Yeah everyone here is sick. I am just glad I got it now and not when your trip is scheduled! Wow you only have a week left.

That picture is precious isn't it? The funny thing about it is I was trying to take a regular picture and Mason (my little cousin) tried to kiss Ryan's cheek and when I took the picture it came out like that. He is the sweetest boy. :lovestruc

Hey Katie just found your report and had to subscribe :wave2:. Firstly because my own trip is only about 5 months off now and I am just sooooo excited. I need to find something to keep me occupied and reading trippies always help. And secondly because I would absolutely love to go to WDW at christmas, it just looks so magical. But being from the UK it is not that simple so for now I will just have to live vicariously through other peoples christmas adventures whilst I sit here in cold and rainy England :sad1:

Anyway your plans look really good so far. I bet you are sooooo excited :)

:santa: Update:santa:

We bought our plane tickets the other day. We got a pretty good deal on them. We were originally going to drive (because ryan is scared of flying .. shh I didn't say that :rotfl:) Then we decided that 2 days there and 2 days drving back just didn't make sense and flying would acutally save money because we would have to pay for renting a car, gas, hotel, etc. We will be flying out of New Orleans though so we will have to drive there. That will only be about 4 or 5 hours though. Not bad.

We are also staying another night. Now we will be leaving on the 21st instead of the 20th!

Other than that I have been really busy, but not with Disney stuff unfortunately. :headache: Finals are next week so I have been studying and doing papers. I still need to pack and buy a few things.

By the way.. where the heck did everyone go. :rotfl2:

I didn't realize you were so close! I know you are very excited! You'll love all the Christmas decorations.

There are going to be many Disers there this week and next week, so be on the lookout for those lime green Mickey heads. Punkin413, scottny, Nicole786 - they're all going to be there. Maybe you'll run across them. You've got one chance in 47 square miles, right? But you never know. I saw a Diser (unplanned) on this past trip in Epcot, so it does happen. And our planned meets were nice. There are some very nice people who hang around here.

Anyway, meet or no meet, have a safe trip and a great time! We'll look forward to seeing your pictures upon your return.

ONLY THREE DAYS TO GO!

I can NOT believe it! It STILL seems like it's not happening, but I KNOW it is. :goodvibes

I have had one more little change. We are now leaving Sunday morning for New Orleans. My mom talked to my cousin and mentioned us leaving at midnight for the airport. He offered us to sleep at his house Sunday night and he would bring us to the airport Monday morning. I think that is great .. now we don't have to park our car in the airport.

We probably would have just left for New Orleans tonight, but Ryan's work Christmas party is tomorrow. He said a month ago that he would go and if you don't show up they make you pay $50 a person. :scared1:

Also I ordered Ryan the castle cheesecake for 1900 Park Faire. I though it was so cute, and we LOVE cheesecake.

I'm going to start packing tonight. :rolleyes1

Staying with the cousin seems like a good idea from many angles. You'll have some time to visit, you can get some rest, have a ride to the airport and a safe place for the car, and it'll probably seem like your vacation is starting even sooner, since you're leaving in the morning.

I think you will have a busy day today. Be safe and have fun! I know you will!
