HH is home resort but we thought we might try some place different this year. We are looking at Virginia & Carolina beaches but would consider any other East Coast location. We are 4 adults & 3 children ages 12, 8 & 7.
Where have you stayed?
How did the accomodations compare to HH?
How did the locality compare to HH?
What activities (either at resort or in town) would you recommend for 3 kids ages 12, 8 & 7?
What local restaurants did you enjoy?
Any other advice or suggestions?

Please don't hesistate to share any experience - good or bad. Thanks!

You could try trading to Williamsburg, VA. Marriott's Manor Club at Ford Colony is an II trade and I understand it is gorgeous there!!

Places that would come to mind would be Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, West Palm, Ft. Lauderdale and the Gulf Coast of FL, esp Sanibel/ Captiva. As far as specific resorts for EAST COAST BEACH TIME or similar inland areas, I'd place several of the Marriott's at the top of the list. Bascially all of the Captiva and Sanibel options through DVC are great as well. Lodge Alley Inn in Charleston and Marriott's Williamsburg are great places as are the West Palm and Miami area Marriott's. While there are some nice places in Myrtle Beach, nothing that quite compares to DVC, likewise for Virginia Beach. Do you have any specific questions?

Two resorts that are being considered are:

Shorecrest Vacation Villas in Myrtle Beach &
Turtle Cay Resort in Virginia Beach

Anyone had any experience with either of these?

I don't know either place personally but a quick review of TUG suggests that both would be a trade down from DVC but very nice places to stay overall. Personally, I'd join TUG and read the reviews. At $15 with a free add, I don't think you can beat the price.
