We will be arriving at WDW first thing in the morning on day 1 of our trip. We're taking in the MK. I know that you can't officially check-in to your hotel room until 3pm. Does that mean that we can't use our DDP until after 3 or can we go early in the morning and get our KTTW cards so that we can both use the DDP and get into the parks?

You are able to use the dining plan as soon as you get your Key to the World card from your resort. Just go to your resort, get your card, and you are set!

Well that makes me pretty happy. I thought I was going to have to change my dining plans yet again.

you can get the DDP and park tickets as soon as you arrive. You just call back later in the day and get your room number and the card will open that door.

I know they will hold our luggage for us but will they bring our luggage to our room or do we pick that up later in the day when we check-in?

They hold your luggage and bring it for you. (Not sure if you're aware, but it's customary to tip them $1/bag for bringing it to your room - I see you're from Canada and I wouldn't know the custom there)

You can check in as early in the day as you like. You will probably not get a room assignment until later in the afternoon. They can key your card remotely so that all you need to do is call and they'll tell you which room you're in so you don't need to stand in the check in line again. :thumbsup2

Yes, we do have pretty much the same tipping customs here.
So, when do they bring your bags to your room? When you call and ask for them or while you're at the parks. We don't plan to come back until after park close. Will this be a problem?

This is a great tip! Thanks. I would have thought that we had to return to the front desk after 3.

When staying at a standard resort they generally bring them when you call for them.
We stayed DVC in April 2007, I stopped at Bell Services and I left them a nice tip and asked them to bring the bags while we were out. They brought them when we were at the parks (1 bag and groceries from Garden Grocer - they even put our groceries away! :goodvibes )
I guess you could just check what the custom is for the hotel that you are staying at. You could probably call the front desk directly, just not sure how expensive it is for you to call from up North of the boarder.

Thanks to Tricia this got answered, we drove there about a dozen times either straight down from PA or aa rental car from the airport so we always kept our bags in the car. So I didn't know the answer to that one.
