Checking to see if there is enough interest to add this to the calendar.
Gift tags for Christmas presents
8 swappers per group
Make 2 med or large tags PP, 3 small tags PP
Tags must be embellished 2 ways, not including the hole
Sign up -- mid October, due mid Nov. These will be mailed before Thanksgiving -- probably that week.
Some things to consider:
Do we want the tag to have To/From on it, or just leave space for the giver to to address the tag?
Should we inlude options other than tags -- diecut shapes -- like stars, trees, presents. Or even journal boxes?
Here is the link to last year's swap -- no photos though.

This sounds fun and like something I would use. I would prefer not to have a to and from.
The time frame sounds good to me.

I would be interested in this one. I would not want "To/From" on them. I also like the idea of using shapes as tags, as long as there is some rough size guideline so that there aren't any teeny, there's-no-room-to-write-anything-on-them tags:).

I would prefer no "To/From" on the tags. I like the idea of other shapes but would prefer that there be minimum size requirements.
Are you planning specific groups such as Christmas or are you thinking something like a General Holiday group? I also badly need birthday gift tags so would potentially be interested in that group as well.
ETA: I was wondering if we could back the sign-ups to beginning of October? That would give a bit more turn-around time. I need to have them done by beginning of November and two weeks isn't quite enough time for that. Don't worry if it won't work. I just thought I would ask.

Yes. I like guidelines. I would definetly provide guideines. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
I am Catholic --so all Christmas here. When you say general holiday do you mean Christmas tags that don't say Christmas -- like Happy Holidays and no Madonna with child? Or did you mean an all purpose tag group?
Yes I can have a bday group.
Timing -- I get back from WDW on Sept 29 and would need a few days to unpack, do laundry and of course, check up on all of the threads (unless we bring the laptop). I could do signups on Oct 3. Would that work? I haven't checked the swap calendar yet.

How about a kids group? My kids made about 50 tags each last year and loved doing it. It was very easy for them.

It wasn't disney. I just gave them tags I had cut from the cricut -- white with either a red or green mat, Christmas stickers, ribbons, buttons brads, fibers, & glue dots, rubber stamps and let them decorate at will.

If we do a strictly Christmas group, would the tags be religious? I celebrate the Solstice but do give gifts so only use secular images during the holiday. I had assumed that the Christmas group would have secular images rather than religious themes.
By general holiday, I guess I meant more general. I was looking for Valentine's Day, Easter (again in a secular manner), baby gift, anniversary/wedding and maybe just some general all-purpose.
Sign-ups on October 3 would be wonderful. That would give a bit more time from sign-up to due date.

I was not thinking religious images, but what about the word "Christmas?" Is that okay? Or would you prefer a group that was more Happy holidays --no mention of any religious holiday? Please forgive my ignorance on this matter. I do not intend to make any insults here.
I do not mind at all including different groups.
So
Christmas
Happy Holidays ?
Birthday
General -- should this group have set topics?

These were the ones I did for the Disney themed group that to make 2 tags.

They were inked, heat embossed, one tag had flocked paper, the other multiple matting.
These were ones I couldn't bear to give away, but I don't know who made them.

All the tags I got were double sided so the to/from wasn't an issue.

I would be interested in this swap. Maybe there could be a Christmas group and a Happy Holidays type group that would be appropriate for all winter holidays? And I guess if enough people wanted to do it, there could be a religious Christmas group too.

While I tend to avoid using the word "Christmas", I would have absolutely no problems getting tags that say Christmas on them. We have very religious relatives and I do wrap their gifts in paper that says "Merry Christmas" on it. A tag with that wording would definitely not go to waste.
In my gift wrap and in the cards we send, we tend to stick with winter themes of snowmen, snowflakes and use the term Happy Holidays. I have no objection to any other secular images of the season either such as Christmas trees, Santa, reindeer, gifts, ornaments, candy canes, etc. I know some of these have religious connotations but they are generally considered more neutral.
I do hope I'm not offending anyone with my statements. I have just found that I need to make sure I understand the ground rules of holiday exchanges/swaps to make sure the items are something I can use. I'll never forget the "Holiday" ornament exchange I was in at which I received a porcelain cross with the Christmas story painted on it. The ornament was lovely but was completely inappropriate for me. DH's aunt and uncle really enjoyed it as their gift that year, though!

I'm up for this swap - I too like the idea of no "to" and "from" and we use the term happy holidays to be inclusive of everyone - but as always I am very flexible:goodvibes

Nope not offensive. I think it will be pretty easy to stick to the secular images. Not every tag will have the word Christmas -- I know mine didn't. I'd rather have this all worked out before hand.
Do want a Disney Happy holidays group too?

I think I might join in on this one - but I am leaving for Disney Nov 5 returning 15th so I'd need to be sure I can make it work. I think a month is enough since I can drop it off to you.
So do we choose a theme within a group?
quick answers to the already posted:
I like NO to/from (how did you write info on them though - just marker?
Shauna you are not offending - I am Greek Orthodox among a whole lot of Catholics and I find that I have to explain or ask questions all the time! Better to just ask or state your preference I say!
I love the idea of other shapes
I'd love a disney christmas tag group (I like a little Disney in every facet of my life).

I think I might be interested in this swap. I don't care if they are religious or secular.
