Any word yet on NY State purchase for BCV? My guide has been annoyingly quiet...

I called my guide yesterday--she reported that NY needed more info from Disney, so they sent it to them. She said they hope to have sales to NY before the price goes up... :(

Spoke to my guide too. She said that she thought that NYers would get retroactive pricing for BCV points. She might be right as they did that with VWL. We'll see

Rm, I have 3 friends interested in buying, so do they have to call to say they want to buy to keep the discount? They were already sent the packages, and are waiting for NY to be approved, (like us).

During one of my calls to my guide she wanted to know how many points I was planning on buying so that all the paper work would be ready. I think even for new members they should tell them of their intentions. Someone posted about the same thing happening with WLV - they kept hearing any day now and it took months - please post again so we know how many months should we wait. Thanks

I don't know Peter but it would probably be a good idea.
Do they have their paperwork and just have to send it in? or did they just get info?
Also as an FYI to everyone out there, you can book a quick trip to Orlando for one of you and pick up the paperwork. Everything else can be done from NY unless you are financing, in which case the mortgage paperwork would have to be notarized in FL. I was giving that option serious consideration until I found out that they had some August left for me. :D

Just talked with my Guide Today. DVC was told by Albany way back when they would give approval in March or April. They do call Albany on a regular basis. Albany is all backed up since 911. DVC will honer incentives to NY owners after the incentives are removed for a reasonable time, Unless the Approval takes much longer at which time they might give a one week warning to us to fly down and sign on location. Everything right now is speculation. BVC is about 30 % soldout. It is breaking sales records every day. They have had several meetings trying to figure out why BVC is so successful.

Hi. We had talked to a guide way back during the close-out of WLV. We really wanted BCV so she told us that she would put us on a call back list when NY was ready. Do you think they will really call back or should I call again soon? If you are financing through them you still have to go down and sign papers? Do you have to supply your own transport from airport, etc?

BCV Incentives will be over April 30. NY not approved yet. Was told if i want points to fly down.
George
my guide told me that the incentive are going to end on April 30th. the only way for purchasers from non-approved states to take advantage of them is to fly to WDW (well, there are other ways around it, but then who wants to go through those hassles?).
if anyone is flying into MCO on the 30th, maybe we can share transportation to the DVC at Boardwalk?

I don't know maybe it's sour milk but I do not think it is fair for the members in the unapproved states to get the "Fly down or forget it attitude" . New York is always the last state to give its approval, but this time it's because of 911, even DVC admits to this. Anyone who deals with the State or New York City Goverment knows how screwed up things are up here still.
The rest of the Country and World had the Incentives for almost 3 Months would it be too much to ask for a 2 week period after New York or any other state gives it Approval ? . New York does have the most members Per state. Am I the only one who Feels this way ?

George, I agree. I have three friends along with myself who would like to add on with the incentive. If they don't give it to us after the date, I guess we'll just have to go check out a resale. Never done it, but heard it's pretty easy.

This really stinks. I have my husband 99% convinced in buying in BCV but I doubt we could make the trip down there. We should really get people from NY to call DVC to try to convince them to add on the incentive time for us. Maybe with enough phone calls something can be done.

I called this morning and spoke with Betty (my regular guide, Michelle is on vacation). I have to admit that Betty was pretty rude telling me she had less than 5 minutes to speak with me. She told me she could not send me any info on BCV or even talk to me about it because NY is not registered yet. Exactly what is the harm about getting info for our own preparation? It's not like NY is not going to approve it. If I didn't want to buy in so bad I would scrap the whole thing. I wonder if there is a # in Albany we can call to see what their statement is on when there will be approval.

CA is not resgistered either.. I flew down for 3 days just to buy... Told my guide to have all the paperwork ready... Well it was and I was in and out of there in 40 minutes.... Of course I didn't really read anything, just signed away (it was my 3rd add on so nothing new) and left with backpack and litho...... Had enough time to walk around 3 parks for alittle while and left the next day......

I checked into flying down overnight to do the same thing but the cheapest airfare I could get was from Jet Blue and that was 833! That would not be worth it. Guess it just isn't enough time. I wish I knew earlier about the incentives so I could maybe have made earlier arrangements. I'm going to keep on checking though.

Gads!!! Which airport would that be flying out of?

The airlines "forbid it" I guess, but some people do the following:
Buy a round-trip ticket for say $200, leaving Syracuse for Orlando on 4/27 and returning 5/4. Then buy another round-trip ticket for $200 leaving Orlando for Syracuse on 4/28 and "returning" to Orlando on 5/5. Use only the 4/27 (Syr.-Orl) and 4/28 (Orl.-Syr.) tickets. Total cost of $400. But...as I said, I guess its frowned upon and if they figure out you're doing it they can cancel your reservation. Not sure how they would know if you did two airlines (assuming you could get those low rates on two). A lot of work (and $)...wouldn't be worth it for me unless I was buying 200+ points and I knew for sure even $75/point wasn't going to be available to me.

I forgot to mention that fare was for 2 adults. But still - 400+ for each is a lot to consider. We don't plan on buying more than 200 points. It seems we will just have to take our chances and see what comes about. Does anyone know why you can buy if you go down to FL in person? Why is that the exception?

$400 is the best round trip from Syracuse? I didn't realize that things had gotten that bad in airfares... Wow...

I think the airfare is that high because I didn't make res earlier. With only 1+ week left I'm SOL. Usually we can get fares under 200 or so RT.
JetBlue has gotten successful waaay tooo fast! It used to be that the fares were all the same price whether you booked 40 days in advance or one hour prior to the flight. Not true anymore. I'm assuming you are flying out of SYR, correct? If so, I just looked up same day R/T flights on orbitz and they run about $265; i.e USAirways on 04/30, depart SYR at 7:30a, stopover/change somewhere be at MCO by around noon time and depart from MCO at 7p to arrive back in SYR by around 11:30p. Post-9/11 most airlines no longer have Saturday night stay or same day round-trip restrictions. I booked my husband to go down and sign (he's self-employed, no sense in me using up a personal day), and Disney just needs to OK my power of attorney. I think the only trouble my husband will have is airline security -- solo male traveler, with no luggage, etc.
The reason why a NYer can go down there and purchase is because then you are completing the transaction in the state of FL where Disney is approved to sell timeshare periods. Obviously, NY and a few other states have not approved this offering to be solicited in their state. Additionally, if you are obtaining financing through Disney, there are also not licensed to originate and close mortgage loans in those states. So even if you were there and started the paperwork, as a NY resident the loan papers cannot be notarized by a New York notary.
Hope the info helps. The $144 (plus transportation $ to and from MCO) spent is offset by the $$$ from gained from the incentives. Plus my DH should have at least 2-3 hrs to spend at WDW by himself before his return flight.

I'll look into that info. I am restricted on when I can go because I am a full-time mom (work at home PT) and there is no one to watch my 2 DS except on my DH days off (Sun or Wed - crummy I know).

Have you thought of using Priceline for the airline tickets?? You can pick the dates but not the times. I've heard of people getting great deals on airline tickets through Priceline, especially last minute. Good luck! :)
