I didn't think so but I was told on the resort board that they are. The size would be about the same so I guess it's possible but they don't look like it to me :confused3

Yup. They are single-wide trailers. We LOVE the Ft. Wilderness cabins!

Well, they did a good job of covering up the trailer part! I'd never thought of it before but they are the right size.
We love the cabins too!

The cabins are mobile homes especially designed for WDW & sided to look like log cabins. The old "Wilderness Homes" actually did look like mobile homes plunked in the woods. I know the original "cabins" were manufactured by Fleetwood. I don't know who made the current cabins.
The "politically correct" phrase is "manufactured housing"!!:thumbsup2

Yep...they're on wheels.::yes:: We have some similar in design in our camping resort in upstate NY. They're not meant to be towed all over..but they can be moved from one area to another. I think the idea of them being "trailers" gave the wrong impression to guests who equate a trailer with being a less than desirable accomodation. Apparently "cabins" is more appropriate to the Disney bottom line! If guests feel better calling them that..why not? They're still damn nice trailers! :thumbsup2

They are nice, they've been done so well that it doesn't really look like a trailer, or manufactured housing, it looks like a log cabin! We're DVC members now but DH still always wants to stay in the cabins - so we'll often do a split stay. My family loves Ft. Wilderness :thumbsup2

I remember there was a reason that I read once why Disney went with trailers instead of actual buildings, but I have no idea why.
Yea, it's impossible to even tell it's a trailer, like most things Disney the outside covers up what's inside ;)

Not to me, I just didn't realize it. Some people on the resort board (see above link) seem to think so though.

there are people on the resort board that snub their noses at the Fort in general, so I would just let it roll off your (or anyone else's) back...we like to ruff them up and get their threads locked every once in a while:lmao:

We stayed there in 95 before I had kids of my own. I took my nieces and went along with my little sister and mom and dad. We loved it. I have to say that it was probably the best place we have stayed there. We usually always save a day to just do nothing basically. No parks allowed. Its our day to just see what else is around the "world" and get out and do some discount shopping in florida. We had a morning of horse back riding planned however my one niece was only 3 so her and I rented the golf carts and just cruised on down to the petting zoo and pony rides. We also went to Discovery Island. I would love to stay there again, but the price just doesnt work in my budget now a days. If there were more people to share the expense I would book it in a heartbeat. The cabins are a great size and you get the kitchen and grill outside which is a definate budget help as far as the food. You just need to know where to shop out in the real world for the best deals on food.

Yeah, I'm seeing what you mean. I'd rather keep the cabins and Ft Wilderness to ourselves anyway :rotfl: I'm not sure I like Disney marketing them with the moderates to get more exposure.

I don't know why some on that thread are concerned with PrincessTiffany's comments - sounds like the type we don't want hanging around the fort anyway, so if she's happy at All Stars, why try to convince her to stay elsewhere?

Yea, if people look down at the Fort, it's they're stupid loss. Honestly though, don't worry about stuff like that, it's not worth anyone's time.
Just enjoy what you like, who cares what they like ;)

I agree! I guess some people want to convince her how wonderful they are but really if she doesn't want to be there - more room for us!
My family loves having time to just unwind at the Fort too, get on the bikes and ride around it. The movies and campfire are a favorite too.

If you've never had any points, you need to change your name now. How can you be called "TheFlame" and never received any points!!!
Heck, I've gotten points 3 or 4 times! lol

As I have said many times, the name is from my childhood nickname... (note the hair...not so much the face;) )
NOW my husband says it is more for my attitude since I am all grown up now and can't blame my personality on my hair...but I beg to differ(unsuccessfully)!:thumbsup2

BTW-still no points...and Chris, you can't have had any points, you are too nice!?!?!

Way to verbalize what a lot of us think. I really don't know why people feel that in order to elevate themselves they have to put down someone else. I'm just as glad the Princess doesn't ever want to go to FW again.

Besides, I know I don't need another princess around...I have a 13 year old who thinks she is one step away from being the freakin QUEEN!:scared1:

Heh, yea, but I can still get my feathers riled up like everyone else. I only actually got points once, but I've been warned a few times ;) The points weren't from this forum, it was from some political discussion on the Community Board (blah).
For the warnings, let's just say I don't appreciate when anyone labels anyone or assumes anything about anyone at the Fort, rich, poor, smart, dumb, whatever. I posted a lot more back then, and I got way too caught up in the argument...lol.

Since this has gotten WAY off track, and the OP's question has been answered, I'll lock it up now. :)
