View Full Version : Who will be calling to check their old ressies when the new system is up in August?
If you make your meal reservations for TS before the new dining reservation system kicks in, how do you know the old reservations (pre-August) converted properly to the new system? I'm panicked that some or all of the old reservations will be lost when this occurs. Does anyone feel the same way?
Unfortunately, the only way I'm going to feel safe about this is to call again and verify every TS reservation. I don't want to start a panic here, but I don't see a choice about this. I don't want to find out the hard way once we are there that something screwed up; because, there's a glitch between the old and new systems for meal reservations.
Vote in the poll and we shall see how many feel the same way about this change.

I always call to check my ADR about a month after I make them and then a again a couple of months before the trip...I want to make sure the ADR are there...But more important, I want to make sure the dates and times are correct...I have had two bad experiences with the CM putting the wrong dates into the system and we lost our reservation because of that...
Once it was the Hoop Dee Doo which I paid for 6 months in advance for 7 people...I paid for the Tier 1 seating (came to hundreds of $$$)...Told to pick up my tickets for the resort when we arrived...When I went to get the tickets, CM told me the date for our show was for two days before....It was clearly a mistake because we were not even Disney for the date on the reservation...They gave us a refund...She also attempted to get us a new reservation there or any where else we wanted but of course everything was booked...We were going to the HDD for my dad's 60th birthday...We were very uspet by this mistake and will never let that happen again...
So I always call...I will call again after the system change just because it is around the time I would be checking anyway.

Not only will I be calling to check if my ADR's are ok, but I will also be checking to see if they can get me the times I wanted in the 1st place. Hopefully, the new system will have eliminated those who have double booked, and maybe more slots will become available.

My thinking is that the more you call to check, the more chance to create a problem. I don't think in my case (first wk. of free dining) I would have a chance of fixing anything major anyway as everything is already booked.
If trip was further out, I would probably give in and call for reassurance.
Once on a previous trip, a CM at the podium at H&V could not find our ADR on her screen, having conf. number with us avoided problem. She blamed it on a gliche downloading from res. system. I noticed there were others w/ same last name as ours on her screen. Could also have been that they mistook another party w/ same last name and somehow taken us out of system.

I am not booked, but I would anyhow, just to be sure.
However, I would not do it too much. I feel the more hands you have in your reservation, the more oppty there is for somebody at CRO to screw it up.

Disney is changing back to 90 days out instead of 180 days out, on or about August 1st.

I have had reservations made through the concierge desk, and approach the restaurant and they say that I have no ADRs, even with my printout from the concierge desk in hand and they have told me they can't find me in the list. I have always been seated (without making a scene), but with this conversion I will definitely be checking.

This is a temporary change though and will be only for a few months.

We'll be in WDW July 27 - Aug. 6th.
I am going to have concierge print out our ADRs for Thanksgiving week before we leave on August 6th. That way I'll have it in my hand when we arrive in Nov.

I am all booked for Jan7-14, 2009 and the thought never crossed my mind to check the reservations. This has me a little scared.

So, where is the info on this new reservation system? I keep reading about this from DISers but have not seen it anywhere.

One more thing to worry about!
Sometimes I wonder if all the information I learn from this forum is worth the stress! LOL!
I wasn't planning on checking, but now I think it might be the prudent thing to do given that we are going at Christmas and its such a busy time of year. However, I'm going to give Disney a little while to get things situated first, I don't want to be calling on Aug 1 as I'm sure they will be busier than normal! I'm guessing it will take a little while before people realize they can't make their ressies 180 days out.
hmmmm, wasn't the 180 + 10 just recently enacted? I feel like things are changing so fast lately!

No, it's been around for about 3 years because I made my June 2006 ADR's in December 2005.
The 90 days is just temporary while the new system gets up and running.
I don't have any worries. I'm sure Disney backs up their reservation system before they convert to a new one.

You are probally right Allison, I am sure Disney backs things up or they will have a mess on their hands ;) I found this on Jennifer & Dave's passporter might be a help to some.(see below) I talked to Dining last night to change a ADR for Sept & I asked her. She said 90 days starting around July 16th or 17th. She did say one major change was the lunch at Garden Grille in the Land at Epcot was going to stop September 27th not in January as i have heard on other boards. She said not to worry about up coming ADRs as they have them on an external hard drive.
Here are a few items of relevant news:
As of July 16, 2008, no reservations will be taken for dates later than January 15, 2009. Reservations for January 16, 2009 and beyond can be made beginning on October 15, 2008. The exceptions to this are Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table and Victoria & Albert's which will continue to accept reservations at the 180 day mark. Word is that this move may foreshadow a permanent return to the 90 day ADR booking window...

The official date now appears to be July 31 according to the information the Disney Moms Panel got from Disney.

I hope so:scared1:!
I'm totally tech-unsavvy, so this may be a way off base thought, but is it possible that they will have two systems in place for a while (vs. rolling everything from the old system over to the new system)? Then once January rolls around they would phase out the old system (once all the ADRs in that system have been used). :confused3

I believe you can have the ADR list emailed to you correct? I think I read about this elsewhere on the DIS. I'm guessing you would just call and request the list be emailed to you. I'm thinking about calling to request this prior to the change over just to make sure that I have the info. I'll also continue to call as we're trying to add a person to our party.

Sure you can. When we were there last summer, I asked them to print out all my Christmas week ADRs....no problem! :thumbsup2
I brought that list home with me & brought it right back when we returned in December.
